The MMP People Finder (MMP)

Morning all! :drives by, waving and throwing confetti for no good reason:

Another day of Tin Knickers and her pointless bonkers requests looms large. I have a cup of tea and a banana. Sanity will return shortly.

Nooner - I caught part of a programme on TV the other night about city breaks, they were saying that the next big destination for UK travellers should be Tel Aviv 'cos it’s only four hours away from us! Watch out, the Brits are coming…

No school, its back to bed for an hour or so for me.
Funny, no snow now, but when I went to bed? Holy cow! It was coming down sideways!

beebs, I snerked at Jesus horses. Thats so wrong at six in the morning.

They Lie! It’s more like 4.5 hours :stuck_out_tongue:
More than made up for however by the fact that you can actually be downtown from the airport in 20 minutes (if it’s not exactly during rush-hour)…

Also they forget to warn you about all the scary (scarey?) people here. Like me

But yes, I really think it’s a place you could enjoy… nice weather, the beach, an accessibly small but still interestingly cosmopolitan city (think Edinburgh), and 2-3 hours’ drives from a huge number of enormously interesting historical and (Christian) religious sites. E.g., 1 hour from here to Church of the Holy Sepulchre - Wikipedia and Vis Dolorosa and all of the rest Jerusalem has to offer…

And it’s truly a lot safer here than people think. Haven’t had a serious “security incident” (other than the constant war going on near Gaza) in the country since the 2006 war in Lebanon. In Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem, for even longer. Couple that with lower violent crime and accident rates, and you’re almost certainly safer in Tel-Aviv than in any major city (NY, Paris, London…)

Roo, no you don’t get to choose **all **of the above. It’s just me, and me alone! :stuck_out_tongue:

CuteyPie prayers and good thoughts headed out to your mom.

Nava Appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed. Good luck!

Beebs I think I’m now hangin’ out at the water works. I don’t actually live in da 'burg. I actually live down in the southeast part of Lee County but since my mailing address is Leesburg I use that as my location. Somehow I don’t think “Redbone” (for real that’s the precinct name for my little slice of Lee County, Jawja!) would be found. Perhaps Philema would, cause I believe that’s what shows up on GPS tracking systems. Yep, I live in a weird place.

Up and caffienatin’ here. It’s supposed to get rainy here today. I hope so. Hey, if I gotta be at work, rainy is good, right?

::whee! driving by on my way to work::

The Post says today’s high is going to be 44, but as of 6:30 AM my thermometer says its 52 out. Not sure who to believe anymore.

Beebs you can show me at:

38.959 -76.943

Hope your mom’s surgery goes well, Cutie.

::waves on her way to work::

off To work.

There are NO people in the middle of the USA. The ones you see on TV and such are all actors and planted so as to make you think that the US has an all people population. Those in the middle are pod people–aliens who have killed off the indigenous humans. They have strange customs. Best avoid them at all costs.

Baby, it’s cold outside! It’s a balmy 58 in our bedroom right now (we have some insulation problems stemming from [del]the fecking contractors who did a shite job[/del] the distance the room is from the furnace (does that sound plausible enough?)).
The rest of the house is 68 like God intended. It’s garbage day–I don’t envy those poor guys today.

I had to make #1 son take gloves. Teenage men!

Hi all!

Yesterday it was humid 70°, this morning it’s dry and 35°! Brr. They say if you don’t like the weather in Texas, just wait a minute…

I hope all goes well for your mom, Pie.

Good luck, Nava!

:: reluctantly goes back to work ::

pie, good wishes for mums.

beebs, that film is creepy but I admire the animation.

I am currently reading Great Expectations. For such a ravenous reader I have surprisingly large gaps in my portfolio so decided to do something about it. Recommendations on some classic works are warmly welcomed.

We’re due to hit the mid 70s today and continue to warm up the rest of the week. Read and weep.

I’ve been researching hotel accommodations for Italy and have come up with a pretty good Selection for everyplace but Rome. Pretty feckin expensive wherever you decide to stay and we’ll be there for 3 nights.

As for everything else, it’s business as usual.

Tupug

Best wishes for Piemom’s surgery.

I have a raging case of “no motivation, wanna sleep” today. I’m avoiding two boxes of government documents like the plague because I really don’t want to have to search for them in the library catalog and WorldCat. I just looked up a bunch of marine science reports and that was bad enough.

Other than that, I got a generic nametag. My name is now Student Assistant. But you can still call me Spaz.

Off to shuffle more dusty papers.

Oh my God. I went all the way to Des Plaines only to find out that the school is CLOSED UNTIL NOON. #$%&*@!!!

Then I get home and find an email saying, “Oh, btw, we’ve decided to close the school this morning.” Sent at 6:45am.

Look people, some of us have 8am classes. Which means we need to get to school by 7:30, which means we usually leave the house before 6:30. The weather forecast has been predicting doom and gloom ever since yesterday afternoon. Couldn’t you have made these decisions a bit EARLIER and saved me a useless 3-hour-round-trip? Gah. I hate you school.

Heh, I just realized that Israel is quite well mapped if you choose the “Satellite” option instead of “Map”.

My Location - Google My Maps is my (almost – I’m not pin-pointing the building) actual location; it’s about 5.5 km NE of where you originally put me, so not a bad shot

As you can see, there’s a friggin’ airport between me and the beach – makes it more like a 20-minute walk if I want to do it on foot…

Sigh I wished I lived that close to the beach Special1. I’m so sick of this cold weather, I want to move elsewhere. Someplace where it’s not freaking cold like it is today.

:waves hello:

busy

:waves g’bye:

 nooney, get out of the street!!!

Done

Good shooting, beebs. Right on target.

And because I just can’t resist …

[QUOTE=LurkMeister]
I was born in Chicago and lived there all my life. I remember blizzards with over two feet of snow, one winter when the El stopped running between Wilson and Howard and I had to walk several miles to get home. [?QUOTE]Up hill both ways, right ?

Yep.
