The MMP People Finder (MMP)

wow, Taters, how sad! :frowning: Hugs to you and your son…

Oh, taters, how horrendous! A friend of mine committed suicide but it was after high school when he was a freshman in college. Still. Agreed about the weed use. Perhaps he was doing that to dull whatever demons were inside. Give that boy of yours lots of hugs.

Taters this hits very close to home for me…in 9th grade one of my friends committed suicide…it’s so hard…just be there for your son and let him cry on you. I remember sitting on the couch at home, holding onto mom and crying and crying. Give your son an extra hug from me.

I have been giving him lots of hugs, and he did have a big crying jag while I sat there and held him. He’s quiet now, just cruising the net, but I’m sitting here in the room with him.

I called his Dad at work to let him know what was going on. He was going to call his dispatcher to see if he could come in.

It hit close to home for me as well. I’ve known two people who committed suicide. Both of their suicides left me feeling overwhelmed with pain.

It’s such a sad thing, but somehow it just seems worse when a young person does it.

That’s so sad. Give him a hug for me.

Taters - Hold on to your boy, he needs it right now. Two kids in one of our high schools died that way last year and it was devastating around here.

My day:

3:15, drive car in whiteout conditions on country roads, followed by sliding around on city streets until the superintendent rightly decides to call a snow day.

5:15 - Make phone calls to my people to start the phone tree.

6:45 - Go to have nice waitress bring me eggs and bacon

7:30 - Home, commence nap

9:15 - Answer phone so that boss can call me IN TO WORK because the superintendent decides to hold the principal’s meeting despite it being a snow day, and I was on the agenda for a couple things.

1:00 pm - Home to spend 90 minutes behind a snowblower clearing 10 inches of snow.

3:00 Resume nap.

It sounds a lot less imposing now that I see it like that. Anyway, off to meet friends for din din and beerverages.

I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE T-mobile! HATE! THEY ARE EVIL!!!

ETA - oh God, I’m so sorry about your son’s friend,** Taters**.

I’m outtie!

TMobile charged a bogus deposit to my account in DECEMBER. I’ve talked to them at least 3-4 times now and then today I got a message saying my account has been SUSPENDED because I didn’t pay a deposit that I wasn’t supposed to be charged with in the first place. ARGH there are not enough words to express the aggravation I’m feeling right now. AAARHGDSKNFSIDH#&%*$

Um,…that’s not a real word is it?

No, but it’s an aggravated sound I tend to make instead of the slew of filth that my mind is churning that would make a sailor bashful.

Taters, I’m so sorry for your son’s loss. It’s so hard to understand when you’re in the right frame of mind.

I just got back from WM, there was a family reunion by the tampons. I started the day testy as it was. So at that point I just kinda yelled about getting my Goddamned tampons and having to wade through discussions of baby mommas and clubbing. I hate the first of the month. And I no longer work retail.
Going to have frozen pizza and take a shower now.

ETA: I’m cooking the pizza, not eating it frozen. Though I’m so hot it might cook in my mouth.

I’m so sorry, Taters. More hugs for your son and for you. One of the kids my brother and I went to school with (kindergarten through high school) committed suicide about a year after high school. It’s so sad to think of all that potential gone. :frowning: :frowning: I agree with Puggy that there was probably something else that he was dulling with the weed.

I still can’t figure out why they closed schools this morning. Someone at work said it was because sidewalks were icy, but based on both my sidewalks and sidewalks downtown I can’t imagine that they were very bad in most places.

Here’s another vote for the eleanorigby Mideast Kumbaya Tour.

As far as I can tell, all cell phone carriers are evil. I’ve been lucky with AT&T so far, but I fully trust that they have the capacity to drive me nuts at some point.

Airport? Why did you head for the airport, beebs?

That lumberjack story filled me with:    I don’t think there’s a really good word for a combination of all three.

Thanks for the heads up on the ugly building thread, BioTigs. I’m making this and the Valentine’s thread my only stop until I have the Valentine’s lists updated.

Back after I’ve updated stuff…

I’m so sorry, Taters. {{Taters and Young Taters}} Weed itself isn’t enough to cause a suicidal depression, but if someone is already depressed, it definitely can add to it. Here’s hoping that, painful as it is, your son takes away some valuable lessons from this awful experience. :frowning:

Sounds like TMobile is playing games with you, Haze. Hang in there, you’ll make them straighten it out, I have confidence in you!

I have been working this afternoon, but probably not as hard as I should. Oh well, there is absolutely nothing on TV this evening – how can we have 850 channels of absolutely nothing to watch? – so I have no excuse not to work. Except that wonderfully comfy new mattress calling me, of course. I guess I’d better have a cup of coffee and tell it to be quiet for now; I have far too much work to get done by Monday afternoon to give in to the siren song of a comfy new mattress.

There was an awful fire near here yesterday – some creep started a fire inside a PetsMart! Fortunately, customers and employees were able to get all the animals out safely – there were like 35 cats and dogs, which people were sheltering in their cars, plus who knows what other critters – and nobody was harmed. But who would set a fire inside a building with so many animals in it? :frowning:

Papa Tigs is so weird. He went for that update sleep study last night, and they had what to most normal humans would sound like a comfy bed. But him? He likes a hard mattress, a cold room, and nearly no covers. So he complained about the beds being too cushiony. He is so weird. :dubious:

Off to get that coffee. The pot should have stopped dripping by now.

I got a mystery collections notice today. I’m going to contest it. Unfortunately the other one is totally legit and I’ll have to pay it.

I hate those things. Moving really threw my bills out of whack.

An hour and forty minutes…I can do it…AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

I went down for a nap when I got home, but I didn’t get it. Two semis hit head on over by Pixley, and I went to work it. A hell of a mess with both tractors destroyed, but oddly enough neither driver was appreciably hurt.

As I post this, it’s 3 hours later, and the highway was just now reopened.

{{{Taters and Tot}}}. You’re a good mom. I’m sure he knows that, heck, we all know that, but I think it needs sayin’ anyways.

BBBobbio glad no one was hurt. Just this week on the local “expressway” (really just a bypass around Albeeeny) two people have been killed. One, who for reasons yet unknown, just wandered out into the road (four lane divided highway) and another when the driver of a pick’emup ran into the back end of a tractor trailer parked in the emergency lane. In the last one, one passenger in the pick’emup was killed, one injured and the driver was unharmed. Says he has no idea what happened and does not recall running into the tractor trailer. I got a feelin’ there’s more of this story to come.

Speakin’ of which… remember the church arson? Charges of arson against the Pastor and the person he allegedly paid to start the fire will be presented to the grand jury next week. This is becoming a source of much local entertainment. What? Small place…we get our entertainment whenever and wherever we can.

Did everybody get sausage for tomorrow?

ETA: Swampus, can you retell the church arson story for those of us with Oldtimer’s Disease? I love those kinds of tales…

We went out to grab some supper, and it was disappointing. I wanted to go to Arizona Pizza to have one of their yummerrific chef salads, but the wait was 20 minutes. Not our idea of fun. So we went to the buffalo wings-n-beer place since we’d talked about trying it. **FCD ** said the wings were good. I got the crab cake, and it was obscene of them to call that deep fried smooshed patty a lump crab cake. Very unsatisfying.

The rain has stopped. I’m in sweats and slippers. Another day bites the dust.

I need to check the freezer and see if I’ve got a ring of Polish sausage in there. That would be yum.

BBBobbio I’ll try and dig up the details on the church arsonist. Right now I just had to share this “politically correct” version of “I’m A Little Teapot”.
