Taters, still thinking of you and your kid. So sad.
I found the story detailing the arson story but of course, the dope decided then and there to time out before I could use the edit window to include it in my last post, as per usual. :mad:
Anywho, BBBobbio and others, for your entertainment, the Pastor and the Arsonist. As a little background… this story first started around New Year’s when the church burned. The pastor tried to paint it as a hate crime claiming problems with neighbors around the church but investigators thought otherwise. Like I said, it should be quite the juicy piece of local news over the next few months.
Why do we need sausage for tomorrow? Is it National Kielbasa Day or something?
I’m feeling very whiny this evening. Papa Tigs fixed yummy salmon with fresh mushrooms from the Amish market (they sell these heavenly lightly battered fried mushrooms), but I started getting indigestion halfway through. And now that I’m all the way through, I’ve definitely got indigestion. Stoopid stomach. So I’m going to whine about having to work this evening. Not that I have anything better to do, mind you, but I’m whining anyway. Whine whine whine! (And no, I don’t want any cheese with it, thank you!)
Speaking of cheese, I managed to seriously aggravate Papa Tigs when he got home work after a stop at the market for our weekly supply of yummy Amish stuff. I’d asked him to get me some cheese, but when he was unloading the bags, he couldn’t find it. He said, “It must have fallen out in the trunk.”
And yes, I’m a bad, bad person, but considering all the management crapola he has to put up with, I could not resist replying, “Who Moved My Cheese?” If looks could kill…especially since one of his bosses gave him that stupid book a couple years ago! Heehee!
Hazel–babysitted? Babysat, baby!
I am so sorry to hear your sad news, Tater. Keep him close (w/o suffocating him–good luck with that. It isn’t easy). I assume you’re going to the funeral? If not you, make sure some other trusted adult is there for your son and friends. A few years ago we had a rash of suicides, all kids on the Varsity Water Polo team. Horrible.
I am home from work. I had to tell another nurse to essentially do her job today. What is up with people? You don’t send down a 22 year old with a BP of 165/110. Sure, she has a history of hypertension and now has renal failure (yes, at 22), but 1. you didn’t assess her pain at all and 2. she took her 3 BP meds prior to surgery–she should not be that high. I made this nurse call the MD and inform him; he ordered meds and lo and behold–BP came down to 150/90. Duh. I hate stupid and lazy people.
Am off to bed soon.
I think the kumbaya song is known to all, no matter their country of origin. Google it and feel the love… I have no interest in traveling to the Middle East where I would either be killed because I’m American or killed because I’m Christian (but I’m really not…) Slight hyperbole there, but no planned trips to that region. Sorry.
Tigs I think its in the air. Peeving off the SO seemed to be a theme today.
Well, I’m out of the shower, hair rolled up. I feel way better now. I could start my day all over again if only I felt this way this morning! Alas, it can’t be.
Rigs I have kumbaya and Michael Rowed the Boat Ashore in my head now.
I’m off to finish off the scarf I’m having serious envy for now. I need to find an excuse to get more bamboo yarn. I’m in love! (And if it weren’t so expensive, I’d have to crochet a throw to languish in.)
{hugs for Taterson}
Complicated Roommate’s being confusing. :mad:
WOWCrack Roommate busted my chops for boiling water in a teakettle for my tea. :rolleyes:
I’m having an antisocial evening locked in my room. I need to do some yoga, but that’s gonna wait for the morrow.
Good note: I found Robin McKinley’s blog and added it to my LJ. http://robinmckinley.livejournal.com/
Silly, it’s Ground Hog Day.
Think about it…
:smack:
Snerk
I totally didn’t get that until the headsmack.
Taters I am so sorry. Your son needs a lot of support right now {{{Tatertot }}}
I am finally home at 7.45 after a really long week. Some friends were going out for a quick beer but I just wanted to come home and chill out and get some kitty love from Libby the crazy kitty. I am also working my way through a LARGE raspberry vodka and Sprite and I am about to take the eggplant parmesan out of the oven for dinner.
I’s tahred and I have no real plans this weekend. I will have to post the inventory count we did today at work but I don’t plan on much else. I will hopefully get my closets sorted out
Ground Hog Day. Oy gevalt. Just what we need, another comedian around here. :rolleyes: So what do we think ol’ Phil’s verdict will be? Me, I’m opting for six more weeks of winter. Which we haven’t exactly had much of thus far this year (although I realize that’s not the case for many of you), so even if it stays like this for another six weeks, who cares?
And speaking of weather, it’s supposed to warm up considerably and be sunny all weekend – we’re talking 50°F warm. So it looks like the Idiots will get to go for a swim at the Bestest Dog Beach in the Universe. (Which is any dog beach – they’re not picky!) Life is good when you can go swimming in icy cold water!!!
It’s looking like we’re getting more winter – but I think that would happen no matter what Phil (mmmmm…Phil…oh, wait, wrong Phil) comes up with. We’re supposed to get the third snowstorm (as in maybe eight inches of the stuff, quite possibly more) in a week tomorrow night. Apparently the Snow Gods have decided to let us have it, finally! This makes the skiiers very happy. It also makes me very happy, except when I have to drive before they’ve cleared up the roads properly. Oh well. After that fire in August, the more moisture we get now the better! And have I mentioned that the snow here so far has all been light and dry and fluffy? Now I know what they mean when they talk about powder.
I forgot that this was everybody else’s Friday as well and stopped at the store on the way home. Yikes! But I got some goodies and whatnot, since I finally had the money to. They have these little potted daffodils right now. I love daffodils, and seeing them in the winter like this is even better, but I didn’t get any, because I would kill them. I’m not good with plants. Cut flowers I can handle, though.
I wish I’d seen his face, MamaTigs. How often does one get the chance to be so perfectly snarky?
Hmm. I should have gotten some sausage. I could do something yummy with it. Maybe I’ll go back tomorrow!
I’ve hung out with my son all day, but he decided he wanted to go to a movie with some friends of his from school and we let him go. Thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts and internet hugs.
I just found out from my daughter that my son knew about this morning, but he didn’t tell me. I guess all the emotional fallout at school is what set him off, because my daughter said he seemed alright in the morning, just a little quiet. This afternoon was a whole different ball of wax. I haven’t seen him cry like that in years. He’s not usually into the whole comforting hug thing, but he sure accepted it this afternoon. It was all I had to offer him.
I don’t know if he’ll want to go to the funeral, assuming the funeral will be open to more than just family. If my son decides to go, I’ll certainly go along with him. I’m not going to make him go if he doesn’t want to go. Funerals are tough, and they’re even tougher when it’s someone as young as this.
As I said earlier, my son and this boy weren’t as friendly this year as they had been in the past. I didn’t see anything in our local paper, but perhaps the obituary will appear in tomorrow’s paper.
I guess I’ll watch some television, or maybe read. I’m a little bushed.
It’s cold again here! :eek: Nothing more.
So I am now playing Risk with other Dopers and was so delighted to find such a site - I got into a few other games as well. Now, I’ll never sleep…
I wonder if there’s such a set up for Monopoly…
(((((Taters and Tatertot))))
I’m so sorry. That’s so young to lose a friend.
We had adventures in pizza ordering tonight. Dricing Husband came over, kidlet went to sleep on his lap, we ordered pizza. We phoned two hours later to find out where the hell our pizza was. Turns out the order was compiled but not sent to the nearest location. We finally got our food three hours after ordering. We paid for it, because, well, it wasn’t the driver’s fault, or the second person we talked to, and there’s no tracking down and chewing out the idiot who made the mistake, not on a huge call-centre type place.
Anyway, baby just woke up, snacked, and is sleeping, so I should go sleep as well.
I finally got my hair done tonight. My stylist wouldn’t let me dye it blue.
She wanted to brighten my hair up, but I wanted to go darker. We compromised, and I really like the color I ended up with, a coppery brown. It’s different enough that I’m sure I’ll get some double takes on Monday. (But I still think the blue would have been pretty.)

Drive by… {{{Taters/Taterson/Taters Family}}}
pics? c’mon.

I’m very tired this morning. TVMan couldn’t sleep last night so he kept wanting to chat all night long. :rolleyes: Now that he’s finally sleeping, my back couldn’t take laying in bed anymore. Wonder if I can fall asleep sitting up. In about 4 hours we’re headed off to Medina to pick up my new (to me) slicer. And then we’re stopping at the HUGE antique mall nearby. It’s something like 52,000 sq feet!
Mom is not doing so hot. She’s still kind of out of it. And, she can’t go to the rehab facility because her insurance will only pay $25 per day and she would be responsible for the remaining $250 per day. Also, and I imagine this is because of the bankruptcy, they are not allowed to make payments and are requiring a $5000 deposit. So she’ll be coming home, ready or not.
