The MMP People Finder (MMP)

Champagne Truffles? You trying to get me drunk or something? :eyes mousie suspiciously:

Because you’ll probably succeed, you know… but be careful with what you wish for; it may come true!

Transplanted Bostonian here… Ex-pat for 43 of my 44 years, but when I think of myself as an American, I still consider myself from Boston.

And while I’m at it… GO PATS!!!

ETA: Rosie, if I didn’t have my own (and weren’t a bit tipsy already! :)), you’d sooooo be in trouble for absconding with the White Chocolate!

Morning all. Yesterday night I ended up watching No Country for Old Men with New England Gentleman and another friend of ours, then I joined That Guy, Victorian Heroine, and Minister’s Lad for drinks. We went to some German pub that served its beer in mugs the size of obese children. I suppose we’re watching the Superbowl at Minister’s Lad’s house this Sunday. I asked the guys who we’re cheering for and they said “Well, we hate the Patriots, but we don’t want the Giants to win either.” :dubious:

Guess I should kinda clean my house today if I’m having guests over.

Thanks mmouse for the offerings, and double thanks for remembering dark chocolate. Dark chocolate is the food of the gods.

I’m up, but no one else in the house seems to be. Wait, someone is in shower, but I’m not sure if it’s my son or daughter. My son takes long showers and whoever has been in the shower has been there for quite some time, but, on the other hand, he likes to sleep late on weekends. Hmmmm, I guess it’ll all be revealed when whoever it is walks downstairs.

I am hoping that I will be able to get my hair done today, since I had to cancel yesterday.

I don’t think I have any other plans, exciting or otherwise. This is a good thing.

:dubious: is right… this is no company suitable for a lady…! “hate the patriots,” indeed! :frowning:

Why do they hate America?

I’m awake. Sleeping with rollers on is always an experience, you half wake up when you roll over to reposition your head. Here’s hoping the result will be worth it. I want fab hair dangit!
I need to weave the ends of the scarf I finished a week ago for my step mother. It took two days to make, and now it’s a week later and the day I’m going to see her, and it’s still not done. I have a dish cloth I’m giving her as well. Yes, I have to weave that too. I’ll crochet all day long, as long as I don’t have to finish. I’m a sad creature.
If I have enough time, I’m going to start on the Swiffer cloths. It’ll be great to use it without the guilt I had before!
Have a great day everyone!

Morning Mumpers. I might get tomorrow off.

{{{{Taters and Tatersson}}}}

Lunch, I’m a Packers fan, so I’d be happy if both of them lose. :stuck_out_tongue:

rigs, don’t forget you’re going out tonight.

Mousie, thanks for the chocolate!

FCM, Dog looks exactly like snowbunny’s former kitty Cloud! I’m looking at a photo of Cloud right now (not scanned in or I’d post it) and they could be twins, honest! Dog definitely gets our vote!

TVman definitely needs a few smacks with a clue-by-four, Pie. Among other things, tell him what I tell Papa Tigs when I need sleep: Don’t disturb me unless the house is on fire, or you’ll wish you were on the other side of the universe! There’s no excuse for keeping you awake, or waking you up, considering how much difficulty you have with sleep already. That’s just plain rude and insensitive on his part, and you need to tell him that in words of one syllable. Thus endeth today’s lesson. [/Mom Mode]

I’ll take the hazelnut and mint truffles, since Rosie already hogged the white mmouse – yummy! Also, I found some of the peanut butter truffles last month, and I am here to testify to their absolutely insane deliciousness. :: drool ::

I got lots of work done last night, but am still contemplating and caffeinating today. It’ll happen, I’m sure. And as hoped, the first chunk went as speedily as I could hope. I only wish these folks held their board meetings more often than 4 or 5 times a year; it’s my favorite easy money job.

Papa Tigs and the Idiots are off to the Bestest Place Ever shortly. It’s only up to about 45°, but the Idiots don’t care if it’s cold. Swimming is WONDERFUL! Swimming is THRILLING! Swimming is FUN! FUN FUN FUN! Yeah, it’s rough being a dog, isn’t it?

Off to do…something. I haven’t decided what yet.

(((((Taters and Tatertot))))) - losing a friend is bad enough, but losing one to suicide is so much worse. I hope he manages to find a way to deal with this.

(((((PieKid))))) - sounds like TVMan needs a wallop round the chops with a wet fish. A big wet fish. Or maybe one that’s still frozen. If you don’t want to do it, send him over here and I’ll do it for you. What an eejit!

(((((Doggio)))))…just 'cos.

FCM - Dog is adorable, he looks like a lovely cat. I think you should bring him home immediately and take lots of pics.

This last week has been insanely busy at work, Tin Knickers hasn’t exactly helped with her constant whining about the sainted project. Still, I’m on target for finishing my chunk of the work in time so she can shove that in her pipe and smoke it.

Been shopping today in town, the highlight of which was the purchase of a saucepan to replace the one we lost when the handle fell off. I always had visions of growing old disgracefully but when the most excitement I get from a shopping trip is a new pan, will somebody tell me where it all went wrong?

I’m home again, it’s getting dark. The only thing to do now is have a long soak in a hot bath.

So I am up I had a nice lie it it was great. The load of towels has just finished in the washer. Coffee is dripping, kitty is fed and was also attacked with the anti-flea stuff this morning so she is pouting.

I have plans on being a slug today. I may run to the post office to post a card to a friend at home in the UK. But we shall see when I get my butt off the couch and into the shower.

Making a grocery list anyone need anything?

Yes, please, mmms, gushy food and cat litter (pine pellet only), please. Oh, and Coke products are on sale; would you get me some Diet Coke?

bb2k sent me here. I kinda figured I’d get lost in the shuffle of people who’ve been around a lot longer than me, but already fisha, kaylasdad99, and bb2k have made me feel welcome. Thanks you guys.

It’s almost 1pm and I’m still in my robe. I hate cold weather. SO and daughter are on an unusual father-daughter bonding exercise. They went to Bigg’s to sample. Apparently, all the Bigg’s around here are having a huge sampling day in which they are giving away samples of “almost everything in the store!” Daughter was thrilled about this and is hoping the Cheese Guy is there, because he’s really nice and very cheese knowledgeable.

I have a weird family.

Oh! ETA: <--------- Cincinnati, Ohio here. Home of the…um…oh, forget it. I’m not from here, so I have no pride.

Evening all. Mousie, if they’re still available, I’ll take the peanut butter ones - thanx!

Before I forget again ( :smack: ), {{{Taters and TaterTot}}}

and {{{Cutie}}}. Men, can’t live with 'em, can’t shoot 'em (says she who had a big fight with her husband today over me forgetting to pack HRH’s lunch! God forbid MIL might have to get the maid to boil some potatoes and carrots and mix them with something else!!! It wasn’t the forgetting the lunch that got me mad - it was hubby calling me and shouting down the phone at me like I was some kind of halfwit - “You’re a mother! Why would you not pack lunch for her???” Duh! Every other time you’ve taken her there, your mother has ignored what I packed for Noor’s lunch and fed her whatever she wanted! Anyway, I got the lunch out of the fridge and delivered it (all of 500 metres down the road to MIL’s house) and then (because I stormed in and out of MIL’s house like a whirling dervish) we had another shouting match on the telephone! Gah!!!). Sorry, where was I …

Hey, BrownEyes! Welcome - just ignore my rant! We are all completely normal, sane people here. Nothing to see, move along, move along …

mmmmmmms, can you get me some low-fat milk (do they call that 2% in the US of A?). I would call hubby and ask him to bring some home (if he comes home  ), but we’re kind of not talking right now!

The only good part of my day was lunch with my friends and getting my eyebrows done and hair washed and blow-dried for the hell of it (during my usual guilt-ridden 3 hours off on a Saturday afternoon! Don’t ask …)

Will do Mama Tigs!

Tonights dinner will be grilled sirloin steak with butternut squash risotto.

I am heading to the shower then to the post office and possibly swing by Trader Joes on the way back.

I need milk as well Dotty so I will pick up an extra one!

MamaT, I think (if Eben and Snooch are to be believed) that it is correctly spelled “gooshy”!

I use FCM’s spelling, Dotty. Who am I to disagree with Mooom?

Having friends over tonight. This requires hours of cleaning. We only seem to deep clean or finish projects when the threat of company looms. Why is it OK for us to live in clutter, but not ok for our friends???

Resolve: must invite friends over every week.

Balmy weather today- 40s. Where did my winter go???

I had weird dreams last night, the cat kept yowling at closed doors for three hours straight, and I’ve had vertigo for the last couple of days. The last time I had vertigo this bad was last year when I accidentally OD’ed on the sanity meds I no longer take (guess why). This will probably sound weird, but I feel like my mom’s trying to get hold of me for some reason. And I need to call my dad.

I did, however, take the dog for a walk this morning. This needs to become a regular thing in the Further Reduction of Spaz’s Size Quest.

Ooh, Dog looks a lot like my former owner Cloud, who I unfortunately don’t have a picture of to show off. Bengals are interesting kittehs. I love the name!

I’m not a big chocolate person, but those Lindor truffles are the best! Yummo! Or any chocolate with nuts. mmmm

My first MMP contribution. First off, tag me for Milwaukee, WI.

Second, since I’m were talking about weekends, here’s my story of last weekend.

It’s about 8:00 on Thursday night. Baby P (2 years old) is running around like a nut case, just enjoying life. After about 75 hours worth of running around the house (which she condensed into the span of about 1.5 hours) she disappeard. Mrs P found her half asleep on the kitchen floor. Like someone snuck up behind her and flipped a switch. We figured she was just tuckered out. 30 minutes later she was very listless, and I noticed she was HOT to the touch. I checked her temprature…103.9  . We giver her some tylenol and try waiting it out. About an hour later, the temp was still up in the high 103 range, so we pack up and head to the ER, this doesn’t seem right. We get checked in right away, thay take her temp (103.7), give her some Motrin and we wait, and wait, and wait, and wait. Mind you, we arn’t in the waiting area, we are actually in one of the rooms. After about 2 hours, I go out and ask if someone is going to see her soon. The person at the desk tells me No ( ), no one has signed up for her yet. I should mention here, that they were not busy, from our room, I could see all the nurses standing around talking about non-work related stuff. So I told them that maybe I should just leave and go to [names off about 6 other hospitals]. Someone saw us about 5 minutes later. Her temp had dropped back to normal she was active and seemed to be feeling fine. Strep test came back negative and they sent us on our way. The next morning, the fever spiked again, my wife got tylenol into her and took her to the doctor. The doctor said it was probably a generic virus (or at least something not worth pursuing based on the symptoms). So we kept her on a tylenol/motrin regimen for about three days during which her fever would spike and break and she would go from normal to listless and back and forth. She’s all better now, but it was kind of a sucky few days. Don’t get me wrong, three or four days of a listless baby was a nice break from a baby that normally seems to be driven by a nascar engine, but sucky none the less.
In the end, all said and done, at the end of the day, it looks like we got a $600 dose of motrin. I’m hoping we get a survery from the hospital, I’ll be filling it out. According to my father in law (who works for an affiliated hospital) they really do take those seriously. There was no reason for us to have been there for 2 hours.
