Because you wanted to say hi to me. Very sweet of you. Hi rosie!
Morning.
Drive by. Busy!
{{{Rigs}}}
{{{Cutie}}}
**Rosie **-- OK, I’ll come over, and then we can share the white stuff.
Brownie* – another (cultural/ethnic) Jew?
- Hope you like the nickname; let’s see if it sticks
Hehe. I do. I love brownies!
My father is Jewish (Eastern European ancestry). I’m not, but I’m quite fond of the food. My family was so relaxed about so many things, but food was both taken seriously and celebrated. My aunt made the best latkes I’ve ever had (and I take every opportunity to try them when I find them on the menu). My dad was very particular about what we added to our borscht. Matzo balls, knishes, and blintzes…mmmm! Rugelach was such a treat when I was a kid! Take me to a decent kosher deli or bakery if you really want to impress me. Ashkenazic cuisine is comfort food for me.
Except gefilte fish. Never could get into that. shrug
Guess it’s sticking, then.
… I’ll try to remember to add more shortening next time :smack:
OK… That’s it… you really aren’t Jewish!
Oh, one more question – ***why ***are you up at 5 AM on Sunday morning?
Yeah, I know. That’s when I turned in my card. Typical family reaction when I’d pass on the fish: “Oh well, more for me!”
Good question. I should be in bed! Nighters…
There’s a card!?
Hey, I wasn’t complaining or anything… What with time-zone craziness, I’ll take any company I can get during the morning and noon times!
How can you possible eat something that looks like albino turds? Especially if you are unfortunate enough to have to buy it commercially prepared. Then it looks like it’s floating in formaldehyde.
We’ve got some totally rockin’ rugelach around here. I try to stay away from it, though.
ETA: P.S. What kind of company are you looking for Noonie?
Yes. But the deli-made kind is Teh Yum; especially with good, spicy, home- or deli-made horse-radish (the white kind, not the ground beets that they try to pass as the real thing.)
Well, I’m pretty sure **Brownie **is married…
Then again, so am I, so I guess that makes us even!
On the third hand, she’s offline now, and you’re here…
You have THREE hands? I’m not sure if that makes me more interested, or less…
Right now, I’m just trying to figure out why the email account that I run through Microsoft Outlook will receive mail, but not send. Very frustrating.
Check your outgoing mail definitions – these are separate from your incoming mail definitions. You probably haven’t changed yours, so your best bet may be to go to your ISP’s home page an see if they’ve changes the way they expect you to connect to them in order to send mail through them.
If this is all Hebrew to you, PM me and I’ll try to walk you through.
Thanks. I’ve tried what you’re suggesting and it hasn’t worked. So they’ve got a live chat help feature and I’m talking to someone there now.
They stopped the shells-on-the-floor at the TR we visited in Florida. I’m guessing someone slipped and sued, so they provided shell buckets for each table. Which suited me fine - while I don’t think I’d sue, I do occasionally trip over perfectly flat, even floors.
I’ll observe a moment of silence for poor Dave. Honestly, the only thing I miss from FL is the BBQ. We had a place about a mile from where we lived that did the bestest smoked turkey!! And their other stuff was good, too. I’ve only found one place around here that does the smoked turkey, tho, and it’s in Fredericksburg, VA - over an hour drive from home. Gotta really be in the mood to make that trek.
Oh yeah, and **FCD ** watches a lot of them woodworking shows, too. He’s got a nice workshop in the basement (ManLand) and his latest favorite show is about routers. Guys - they’re so cute!!!
Speaking of cute, our latest critter was perched on the armoire when I went in to check on him this morning. We had about half an hour of skritching and quality time. I could see that he’d eaten and used the litter box, so yay for that! I also found it interesting that when he climbed to the top platform of the tower, he sniffed all over it - Brandy used to lie there for hours and it’s still full of her hair and scent. Anyway, Dog hissed a few times while sniffing. Weird. I opened the front window curtain so he’s got 2 places to look outside. Still, I’ll be glad when we can give him the run of the house. It’s a fairly small room (barely over 10X12) and I know from reading that Bengals are very active and curious cats. He’s gonna be bored outta his little cat brain!
Can’t recall if I welcomed you last night, but welcome, brownie! You did a heck of a job!
Yeah, I know, cheap shot and all. But I amuse myself so…
Happy Sunday, all!
Greetings!
I have no idea why I’m awake at 7:30 in the morning. I’m not a morning person. Ah well, that’s the way it goes sometimes.
Clearly, you are up in order to keep the weirdo morning people and the un-American furriners company!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. Soon I’ll begin purtification for churchification. It’s brunch Sunday so that means good eats. YUM! For those of you who have forgotten that hanging onto the minutiae of my life is the most important thing you can do, brunch Sunday is the first Sunday of the month at my church. It’s a big ol’ covered dish feast and it’s always good. My contribution this month is ‘nanner puddin’. Speakin’ of which, the one I made for ol’ y’all know who was muchly “appreciated” last night. Oh, and I have to ush today too, so I gotta get there a little early to make sure stuff is where it should be and assorted other ushin’ stuff.
This afternoon I am meetin’ some people to talk about some inshurnce. Interestingly enough, they asked me if I could come talk to them.
My life is so fascinatin’ I can hardly stand it!
It does seem that is my only purpose this morning…not that I’m complainin’ or anything. I could be getting some housework done, but no, I’m chattin’ on the dope.
While I’m thinking about Isreal…my former roommate is on his way there on a Birthright (sp?, one word or two?) today. He was talking to my boyfriend about it last night, so now SO’s thinking about going on one at some point in the next year. (Not being Jewish, I would not be eligible for such a trip.) Anyway, I started thinking about these trips being free to Jewish youth and wondering where the financing comes from. Do wealthy Jews donate money for it? Also, you have to be Jewish to go, but what do you use to prove that? Temple membership? Eh…with things like this I usually end up with more questions than answers.
Hi there! Apparently, I’m Soapy- which I actually like! My mom used to make it from scratch- buying the fish, grinding it in a meat grinder, seasoning, making the little patties and slowly poaching it. Phenomenal. The stuff outta the jars cannot compare, but I simmer them with some carrots and onions in there sauce and it tastes pretty good!
We had our friends over last night and it was fun- it’s been a long time since we had company over. We just finished teh basement, so we had somewhere for the kids to play!
Since the house was clean- we invited folks back for superbowl tonight!!!
Go Giants!!! (Don’t ask why… since I live in New England)
See? Hanging around us has already made you smarter
No idea, actually… I’ve never needed to pay to get here. And I’m always expected to pay the return leg when I fly abroad, too! American Jews get all the breaks!!
I saw you have a BF – so I’ll leave it at “don’t get me started…”
Up. Already collected various newspapers for recycling, put some clean dishes away, boiled an egg and made toast. Accomplishments!
Off to get churchified. Back later with pronouns.
GT
Actually I have a BF too.
All purtified for churchification here. The weather is warmin’ up. Gonna be near 80 degrees Amurrkin by Tuesday. Yesterday Sheldon the gopher tortoise didn’t see his shadow. Sheldon is our local weather predictor. He lives at the local zoo. He’s been our “groundhog” for seven years and so far has been right each year. Yep, I do live in a weird place, why do you ask?
Oh and we had pancakes and sausage in honor of ground hog day yesterday.
