Don’t worry if you begin to feel lost in the wave of updates, I usually do. It’s like white water rafting. Don’t even attempt to work your way up the river, just jump in and start paddling to stay afloat!
Hmmm…something tells me someone didn’t read the MMP carefully.
Just wait till the kidlet is old enough to start needing stitches. My son had a positive gift for needing stitches 1/2 hour after the doctor’s office closed on Friday, or the urgent care closed on Saturday. We spent many, many hours in the emergency room; we learned to staunch the bleeding and have something to eat before we went!
Aww, why would you rename him? That’s a wonderful name for a cat! And I can’t wait to meet him. He’ll definitely be an adventure! And by the way, just FYI, we learned with Cloud that a Bengal’s scratches can be far more irritating than most cats’ scratches. I don’t know why, but a Cloud scratch would itch like mad for about 1/2 an hour. Weird. But we need pictures!!!
Dinner is et (steak, potatoes, and corn, followed by dessert of 1/2 of a Harry & David’s pear plus a side of eggnog ice cream – what can I say, Papa Tigs found the last of the Christmas special on sale), critters are fed and sleeping the sleep of the well-exercised after a thrilling and exciting time at the dog beach, and I’m all set for a nice quiet evening. I had a long shower earlier, and currently have PJs in the laundry and clean sheets on the bed, so now the trick is just to keep myself up till bedtime. Wish me luck!
Just missed the edit window – I just told Papa Tigs about Dog, Mooom, and how much he looks like Cloud, and his reaction was, “If he acts like Cloud, too, that’s a very good name!” Cloud was a very doglike cat in a lot of ways – it’s hard to explain, but I think he was the cat who first housebroke Papa Tigs (who’d grown up with outside pets only) simply because he did act so much like a dog. You’re going to enjoy him!
We’ll enjoy him more when he comes out from under the guest bed! And we’ll have pics then also. But I don’t think a camera flash would go over big just now.
Picky, picky. I mean, I realize we’ve seen photos of him, but not at his new Forever Home <gag>!
That’s his FUREVER Home.
Even more <gag>!!
And I’m across the country from him. Shoot! I want to meet him too!
Apparently I didn’t read carefully this morning, but hey, it was morning. A lack of caffeine, ya know.
The Google Ads think Dog is constipated – no, really, there’s an ad for a kitty constipation med of some kind. If anything, I had the opposite problem with Cloud; he had a touchy system! Ewwwww.
I feel all productive. Pantry is sorted and re-organised. All out of date products are in the trash.
When I moved from WY to Cali I apparently moved some popcorn that was out of date in March last year.
Tomorrow I will tackle my closets. I have the butternut squash peeled and ready for roasting but I am going to lay on the couch for a while and have a late dinner I think.
I got an appointment to get my hair cut and colored. I really like the color, not so sure about the cut yet. Of course, I haven’t done my hair myself yet. You women know what I’m talking about…no one can curl or iron your hair “the right way”.
At any rate, they’ve raised their rates, so I’m not sure if I’ll be back there. The girl definitely took her time and I appreciated it. However, just for the cut and color I paid $87.00. I know that’s pretty cheap for some places, but I’m used to paying around $70.00.
My son is off at a candlelight vigil for the boy who died the other night. He was gone when I got home. I asked Mr. Taters where my son was, and he told me. If I had known he was going, I would have taken him myself.
Hmm, I guess I should scout out the dinner situation. I never did eat anything today, so I’m definitely hungry. In fact, all I have today is three cups of coffee.
I better figure out the dinner thing.
I’m not sure. If not now, it looks like they might be expanding. They used to be crummy, dirty places for a supermarket, but not anymore. All the Biggs seem to be renovating and they even have baggers in some lanes now. I guess that means the prices will be going up, but they are still a heckuva lot cheaper than Kroger. Our Biggs has a very large kosher section as well (several aisles), so I can find a lot of the obscure groceries I grew up with. Their kosher rugelach (sp?) is disappointing, though, and I was so looking forward to it.
Having moved several times over the course of my handful of years here, I can say I’ve had many grocery shopping experiences and I’d rate Biggs 2.0 at the top, if only because I can’t afford to shop solely at Fresh Market. The worst was Aldi’s, but Biggs 1.0 was definitely down there on the bottom too. Oh, and Meijer’s has gone downhill steadily for the past few years and I can’t even go there anymore. Shame, really, as I had really liked it several years ago.
Hmm…not sure how I got off on a grocery store analysis. Nothing better to do, I guess. The news from kiddo upon returning from the sampling trip was that D’Anjou pears rock! Cheese Guy, sadly, was not in attendance. Further, Sampling Hosts ought to rethink micromanaging each other in front of customers. If SO didn’t have good manners, I’m guessing one of them would have gotten chewed out for being so rude to a newbie Host.
I am still in my robe, had a nice nap on the couch while watching I, Robot and woke up to COPS. It’s odd because I remember watching that show before my first was born and he’s about to turn 18. Who knew it would last this long?
We’re back from dinner with my dad and step mom. We went to Texas Roadhouse. My dad thinks its so crazy to eat the peanuts and throw the shells on the floor. But he does it with gusto. I think a part of him has always wanted to be bad in that way. My Bro in law kept his shells on his little plate, and my dad reached over and threw them on the floor, I thought Bro in law was going to pass out.
The steak was good, they cooked it correctly. I managed to squick everyone out with my medium rare steak. Yum! I like my steak like my men, warm and mooing!
Step mom loved her scarf and dish cloth. I told her she was going to have to hide her scarf though, I wanted it that bad. She raved about it, and showed everyone who came to the table.
My hair went over good! Even my step mom (who, God bless her kind heart) knew I was going for a 40’s style look. I got several compliments on it, so I must be doing something right. I thought the rolls were too low in the back, but apparently not.
Our Famous Dave’s burnt down this past week, so don’t be taunting me with your barbeque-y goodness. I’m such a sucker for barbeque, and Jim’s not a big fan, I could eat it all week. He swears I should have been a southern girl.
Congratulations Mooom, I can’t wait to see the pictures!
I hope our fellow MMPer’s are having a great time at their Fest!
I know what you’re saying about styling the cut yourself taters, I had my hair cut a few weeks ago, and she had my hair parted on the side, something I’ve not done in years, and it kept falling in my face! It looked good, but it wasn’t very comfortable.
Way to go ems, I’ll cheer you on for your closets tomorrow!
Welcome new ones! This is my second week, and everyone welcomed me right into the fold, beebs is right, just go with the flow!
Now to get Jim off watching woodworking shows, I swear they’re just as bad as hunting and fishing shows…yawn.
Butternut squash is roasting
Steak is grilling
Risotto is …erm…risottoing?
Yummy yummy dinner tonight - See I can and love to cook but it doesn’t happen that often
Sleepy. Off to bed.
::Waves goodnight and blows kisses::
Am back from dinner out with Dopers. It was nice. I don’t remember anyone’s name or user name (sorry). The women were all funny and quick and witty; the men were nice as well. I know this sounds tepid, but Other Things are going on so take it as given that it was a good dinner (the food was excellent, btw). Have to go now. I’m tired.
I’m sorry you had a bad day rigs, I hope you get a good nights sleep, dream of something wonderful, and wake up refreshed.
I’m glad you had a nice time.
Uncle’s wake/funeral service was about as fun as those things can be. He was 83, and was the second to last of my dad’s family left. His twin brother flew in from LA for today, it was good to see him. He was the kind of guy you always wanted to remember the fun you had with rather than mourn his loss.
There was a shooting at a strip mall in a far south suburb this morning, it’s all that’s been on the news today. Just when I got home, I caught something on the news about one of the victims - she was a counselor at the high school that I’m about 95% sure is the one that **Rigsy’s **daughter goes to.
Dinner is eaten. It was yummy as expected.
I am having a glass of wine and watching Greys’ Anatomy that I had DVR’d
Will be going ot bed soon so - Night Night. Don’t let the bed bugs bite!
It’s sure been quiet around here this evening. Where is everybody? Of course, I haven’t exactly been wildly social myself, so I guess I shouldn’t complain too much.
I’m glad you enjoyed the Dopefest, Rigs, but I’m sorry things haven’t been going well otherwise.
And it sounds like your uncle’s funeral was just the right kind, MBG. It’s always nicer to go to funerals of people who lived a full life and who have left you with lots of wonderful memories, isn’t it?
My biggest problem tonight is that I’ve had a case of the Don’t Wannas most of the day, but I’ve got this huge job due Monday so i simply can’t take the time to indulge my Don’t Wannas. I usually time it better than this; I manage to slack off on days when it won’t cause me to miss a deadline. Today, alas, is not one of those times. So I guess I’ll try to put in another hour before giving up for the night. (I usually do my best work between 11 pm and 2 am so this isn’t particularly late for me, confirmed night owl that I am.)
Back to the salt mines. Which are very, er, salty.
why am I awake??? :(:(
