The MMP That Drives Like an Idiot

Triceps exercises, ask a monitor about them.

Hie thee to a medical professional ASAP!!!
With what you had put yourself thru during January and February, you may have screwed up your internal chemistry. Don’t mess around with your health - especially not now that things are on the upswing (I assume they still are?)

I plan to call the doctor on Monday if the swelling doesn’t recede.

Oh, and things are still on the upswing…

Nava, I think the Madrid flat is fabulous in a gaudy over-the-top European kind of way (I think we’ve established that I have very very strange taste when it comes to decorating, though).

And yes, the shoes are muy Sevillana.

Thanks for the offer, Haze. I don’t really want to risk ordering them online, though, since with my luck they won’t fit right and an exchange would be an exercise in insanity. I can still ship you all the nanaimo bars you like, though, and even in different flavours just for fun (mint nanaimo = Teh Sex).

Taters, it’s pretty hard to eliminate problem areas by spot-training - bodies are kind of stubborn that way. All the sit-ups in the world won’t give you a six-pack, for example, though you will get nice strong abs under the layer of fat. You can look into tricep pushups if you want to tone up the muscle - they’re similar to a regular push-up, except you place your hands beside your rib-cage instead of the usual spot and keep your elbows tucked against the body.

{{{Hugs for Lili and Mork.}}}

Other than that I haven’t really bothered to catch up. It’s been a lousy, lousy day with such fun as a lunch for 35 people being delivered 1/2 hour late due to car problems and another lunch for $100 being refunded due to my error of placing the chicken in the hotter of the two oven and it ending up inedible.

So… Now I’m heading off to [del]get drunk[/del] take a nap.

That Madrid flat looks, er, interesting, Nava. I’m not sure what decorating style I’d call it. Florid, perhaps. Gaudy, definitely. Ghastly, for sure!

Taters, as someone who has chronic problems with fluid retention in my legs, let me offer my best nonmedical advice: Lie down and elevate your feet at least six inches above the level of your heart. Up on 2-3 pillows works well. Stay there and take a nap for an hour or so. If it’s just fluid, it should go down almost immediately. I used to come home from work when I was pregnant with Young Tiger with just insanely swollen lower legs and ankles and feet, but I could get them down to normal-sized rapidly that way. If that doesn’t work? Then you definitely need to see a doctor, sooner rather than later!

Now I want some rubber boots. I think I’ll go check out Target and see if they have them in the store, though, to make sure I can try them on. They certainly do have some cute ones! I might check Payless, too, but the only one around here is in the maul, which is under construction and is usually if not always a traffic nightmare. We shall see.

True to my predictions, thus far today I truly have done just about zero, zip, nada, zilch. It’s been lovely. I did take the Idiots out in the yard and throw the Kong for Isaac, but that’s more a necessity than anything else since an antsy dog is no fun, and he’s got such a strong retrieving drive. Silly doggie.

I am also very pleased that my desk sits facing a front window so I can see who’s approaching the house. Between that and the dogs, I was able to pretend I wasn’t here when the Jehovah’s Witnesses came by this morning. They left me a lovely pamphlet, needless to say.

But it’s nearly 60°, the sun is shining, the windows are open, and it’s just an altogether lovely springlike day. I’m going to enjoy it until it starts raining tonight. Just in time for the weekend. Papa Tigs is less than thrilled, cooped up as he is in a huge building all day. We’re praying for decent weather tomorrow so we can go to the Shamrockfest and see a couple of terrific bands, Carbon Leaf and Great Big Sea. We’ll probably go rain or shine, but it’s much more fun going to an outdoor festival if it’s not raining!

I realize spot training isn’t the way to go. I try to do a well rounded workout that involves some weight training and some cardio. I start with the weights and end with the cardio.

I was just hoping that some of the training I was doing would help to reduce the bat wings. Oh and push-ups? It is to to laugh. I don’t have a lot of upper body strength yet. Maybe eventually…

I won the hat!
I’m going to look fabulous in it!
Now off to find a coat to match…heeheehee.

ETA: Suddenly being sick all week isn’t that bad. He feels bad for not being able to take the time off, and I get a hat.

And thus ends tit-squishin’ day! My tech cracked me up, offering such observations as “Be thankful you only have 2!” Yeah, with more than 2, it wouldn’t be nearly as much fun… :stuck_out_tongue: Anyway, I’m good to go for another year. yay.

It’s gorgeous here - almost 70 out there! It’s not gonna last, but the windows are open while it does. I think rain is on the horizon for tomorrow, so I expect to spend some quality time in my studio. It beats doing chores.

Lessee - there was something important I wanted to share, but I forgot. It sucks getting old and forgetful. But when it comes back to me, it’ll seem all fresh and new, right?

I had a dream last night that included swampy. It started with 2 of my coworkers helping me to inflate some air mattresses - and I was especially impressed that Tom was able to blow them up as well as he did, considering he’s a smoker. Anyway, at one point, Dave was driving swampy’s car and he had an accident. So, really, swampy’s only involvement in the dream was limited to whining about his car being crunched. I don’t see what the big deal was - it was a crappy old white sedan…

Happy Firday, all!

Heh.

Congrats on the hat!

Mahna, I know what you mean about the shoes. Buying shoes online has never ended well for me.

I went for a walk, bought some strawberries on my way back for a “healthy” snack, then drowned them in half-and-half and covered them with sugar and crushes Thin Mints. :smack:

Wow, Nava that is one frilly flat! Muy…checks new dictionary …florido as well.
hugs new dictionary

I hit up the used bookstore with a bag of books that didn’t sell on Amazon within six months and walked out with The Heptameron, Chronicles of Avonlea, Further Chronicles of Avonlea, and The Barbed Coil. As I was leaving Barnes & Starbucks, volume one of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen jumped in my bag to keep the dictionary company. :o

I am weak. Keep me out of the bookstores.

Now to figure out where Complicated Roommate is hiding himself to see if he wants to celebrate Pi Day with a Pi-zza.

Drive by! Can’t catch up. Headed home! Have a good weekend!

Hugs for LiLi and Mork.

Wow, that’s some apartment, Nava! (Isn’t that tactful?)

Little brother turned up unscathed; they had no cell reception and internet connectivity for two days and yesterday he taught a workshop all day. Apparently they had no landlines, either… This was a major IT conference, so the lack of available technology made me giggle.

Little brother, niece and nephew will be here in about an hour. I think I’ll get ready for their arrival…

So, be glad you’re not a cow!

My tax lady is awesome!

The state of CA now owes ME $210 instead of me owing $3300

**gotti ** - I was thinking about dogs rather than cows, but that works too.

Yay for mmmmmmmm’s tax lady!! Drinks are on you!

Just back from El Cerro Grande. I have now found 3 dishes that I like there, much to FCD’s pleasure. Today, it was mushroom quesadillas. Muy yum!! And dinner for the 2 of us, plus his tea, came to $21 - yummy and cheap - yay!

I just remembered what I wanted to say earlier - this Sunday is the giveaway of the hideous HGTV dream house in the Keys. So I may be inviting you all to a massive house-warming-MMP-fest. Or not. It’s a real lady-or-the-tiger situation, yanno. Hideously ugly house in a beautiful tropical location…

**FCM ** I will fight you for the hideous house

Google is still hung up on rain boots.

Minister’s Lad called - apparently he wants to go bowling tonight. Bowling? :dubious: I told him to call me back if he convinced enough people. I suck at bowling though.

I gave up on napping after the 5th text message and 3rd phone call. :frowning:

Hey, LJers - did they change their format? All of my friends’ entries are right-justified. They’re almost impossible to read, and I can’t figure our if I changed something that I shouldn’t have changed. Help!
