Despite what I’ve read about flight attendants urging parents to give their kids baby Benadryl, yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s wrong!
As for the bath thing, HRH has always loved her bath. I have pics of her when she was only a few days old in the baby bath (I need to upload them!), lying back with a look of absolute bliss on her face! HRH thinks water is the best thing in the world. I have never seen anyone get so excited about washing their hands before - she splashes and giggles and gets upset when I turn the tap off!
Just for the record, I hate Metrocast Communications, my cable and internet provider. For the longest time, they were the only bill I couldn’t pay on line. Then they finally made that option available to us - yay.
Well, not really.
I have set up my account TWICE, sent an email questioning it and getting the late fee removed, and once again, it didn’t work, and I have an overdue account.
THIS IS MY INTERNET PROVIDER!!! How is it they can’t handle internet billing?!?!?!?
grrrrrrrrrr
I just talked to their customer service dept, and I was informed that they needed to mail me a paper which I need to fill out and mail back. Because apparently the nice little windows on their website where I input my information won’t work. Even tho it is a link that says “Set up recurring payments” - may I repeat - this is my internet provider!!!
And I just saw that the one-time payment that I just submitted could not be processed, so I need to try again later. But it worked when I gave my bank account #, so at least it’s paid.
I swear, if I had a high-speed alternative, I’d take it. But DSL isn’t even close to cable speed.
Mm the porridge was goood… I used that Alton Brown recipe given in the Irish Oatmeal thread, because we have some steel cut oats that Mom flew back from Nova Scotia with her (with the intention of making oatcakes… which I still need to do).
But now my tummy is full, I’m caffeinated and I’m clean… so it’s time to go to the library (Velociraptor has been bugging me since we woke up, and we need to anyway to return his books).
Nice lazy Saturday, and tomorrow will probably be the same with some cleaning and laundry tossed in.
Don’t you hate when things don’t work as they should FCM? I had to send an email off to Airmiles because I couldn’t set up my pin online… they then sent an email back asking for more info, which I gave, then another couple days later they send me an email telling me I can’t do it online because they are mucking with hings and it won’t be up for awhile so I have to phone in to do it.
Why couldn’t they have just put that on the website, so I could’ve called and had my pin WEEKS ago?
It’s official. When classes start back up next week, I’m going to swing by Decent Linguistics Professor’s office and have a chat with her. Then I’m going to the Department Goddess and dropping my TESOL class. I hope I can take it again in the fall. I have HAD IT with the slack-ass crazy bitch teaching it. She needs to TAKE A SEMESTER OFF and deal with her chemotherapy. The university will pay for a semester’s leave. Especially if you have cancer, which she does.
headdeskheaddeskheaddeskheaddesk
Vile profanities, I want to teach ESL but how can I if I can only get classes with this crazy bitch who only gives a week’s notice that a major fucking assignment is coming due? Dammit bitch, I have comps and thesis to work on!
Other than that, the day’s been pretty good. Cleaned the pinecones out of the front yard, burned them in the back, and WOWCrack Roommate’s kids aren’t fighting today. I have a Guinness (Official Elixir of the Gods) chillin’ in the fridge waiting for tonight’s festivities which will be drinking the Guinness (OEOTG). I was going to go to the pub for Irish Car Bombs, but with the hostility I’m keeping bottled up right now they might turn into literal bombs. Best to stay home and sweep up the remnants of the Thesis Book Pile.
We’re back from the library. One thing I love about where we live is it is just a couple minute walk away, and the best part was there was a whole pile of new books out! (They put the new paperback arrivals on a cart by the counter… be they new new or newly donated… I love scrounging over them for books I haven’t read or want to read and it keeps me from spending far too much money on paperbacks I’ll only read once).
Now I’m going to make some mincemeat tarts and scrub the hand prints from walls while Velociraptor has some quiet time with the new read along book he borrowed.
I miss my sunglasses. I was browsing for sunglasses on eBay but I couldn’t find the exact pair that I used to have (the ones I had in my purse when I was mugged last year). Damn, damn, damn. It takes forever for me to find sunglasses I like. And those glasses cost me a small fortune, even with the duty-free discount.
New England Gentleman just called and asked what was going on for St Patrick’s Day festivities. If he joins us later I hope he doesn’t bring his new girl. I really don’t want to watch other people making out all night. Last time we went to a bar they ate their entire meal HOLDING HANDS. Seriously, people, we’re not thirteen.
There probably won’t be any St. Paddy’s day partying here either. We’re not Irish, so it doesn’t matter anyway. Besides, it’s on a Monday.
We may go bowling tonight, just for something different. I pretty much suck at bowling because I only go once every few years, but it should still be fun.
I have to work tomorrow and then while I’m off Monday I have to work Tuesday, so even if I had been planning to party it’s not going to happen. But I’m not really a partier anyway.
yawn I could use a nap. I don’t think they’d like it if I went and borrowed a room down the hall for awhile, though.
This is completely irrelevant to anything else being discussed, but I would just like to say that Whatsit Jr. (age 6) took part in a school district-wide Lego competition today, and unfortunately the kid right next to him was trash-talking him, and Whatsit Jr. got spooked and quit halfway through. My first maternal instinct was to go find the other kid and knock some sense into him while yelling, “How do you like THAT, ya bully?” but went for the more mature and less emotionally satisfying route of talking with Whatsit Jr. about how he’ll have another chance next year, and discussing strategies for handling trash-talking in competitive situations.
What a bunch of jerks, MsWhatsit! Screw 'em–you’ll get 'em next year.
I am home from work where I have found out that people are crazy, pretty much. I already knew this, but it was reaffirmed today. Then I come home to find The Husband with a frozen block of some kind of soup in the crockpot, but the lid will not go on. His solution was to turn the crockpot on high. :smack: I don’t like barley anything soup, so it’s not my stomach… While he was gone, I stuck the ice block o’ soup into the microwave for a bit. Now it fits into the crockpot.
Lemme ask you all this: if you knew you were going for ear surgery, would you get your ears pierced the week prior to the surgery? (body part changed to protect the guilty moron).
I should do library work. One thing-my group project looks really good and I’m done with it, AFAIAC. I do need to start on the big paper. Ha!
It is, but she doesn’t bother mentioning these projects are due until the last minute. Most of us in that class are either teaching full time or in our last semester so a little reminder every now and then would not go amiss. She’s famous for having very vague assignments that she wants done a certain way. What that certain way is you find out when she returns your graded assignment back to you.
I just realized it’s the Ides of March today. TIME TO GET HISTORICALLY STABBY!
Mrs. W, Lego competition? That sounds unspeakably cool.
Now I’m curious WHAT body part it was if it wasn’t the ear? (boobs? stomach? ahem?)
Ahh, okay Spaz. My college teachers gave us the dates stuff was due the first day (written on the syllabus) and at least gave us an idea of things and a heads up in advance of the date so we weren’t caught totally flat footed.
OK, I’ve mellowed a bit. I went to pick up our package of fambly portraits, only to discover that they neglected to include the pic of my darling daughter and me. So all I’ve got is the 3 of us, one of me and my sweetie, and one of my sweetie and his baby. Which means I’ll have to go back there again. Oh well.
I also grabbed some groceries, including some burger patties, which was supper. I also got the makin’s for a peach french toast casserole for tomorrow’s breakfast. Yum. I’ll be building that soon.
After I got back, **FCD ** and I put the rest of the furniture out in the garage. No one has bought it yet. Don’t they realize what a great deal it is??? Sheesh, people! I’ll probably list it in the Pennysaver, too. And see if there’s a Craig’s list for my area.
I still need to organize the remaining stuff in the green room, especially the stuff that’s piled on our bed - later. I’ll get to it.
Other than my dealings with the stoopit internet people, it was a good day. I just closed up the house, as it’s getting cooler out. Dishwasher is running, and we’re in chill mode. Going to visit my mom tomorrow - combination of socializing, checking out my van on a long drive, and getting some of our crap that’s in her attic. **FCD ** will be staying home, trying to finish his design drawings. I’m thinking about taking the dogs with me, but I’m not sure…
Mr Cheerio thinks we should get drunk at his place and play with his Wii (huh huh, his “Wii,” huh huh). I’m trying to decide whether I feel arsed to make a dessert to take along or not.
This is the recipe, except I use peaches instead of apples and raisins, and I use half cinnamon, half nutmeg. I also think I use more fruit than the recipe calls for. It’s pretty flexible and forgiving.
That looks like a yummy recipe. I’ll have to try it.
My friend passed her driving test. Yay! Now she wants to go out, so I might be going out again after supper. Definitely staying in tomorrow night though, I need an evening in… too much going on lately it seems.
It’s been a long week, and the weather has been…well, it’s March, so I guess I shouldn’t expect much. Today it has snowed, rained, right now the sun is shining, and the temp is up to 39F from 24F this am. Banya again tonight, and it looks like we have a full waiting list to get in! I am gonna wash early tonight, instead of waiting until the end.
FCM I have meant to make that recipe but haven’t gotten around to it. I think I will make the effort to put it together tonight. Will frozen sliced peaches do?
It’s pretty cool, notwithstanding the whole “My kid freaking out and leaving early” thing. You bring your own Legos, nothing can be preassembled, you can’t bring instruction sheets, and you have one hour to build whatever you want. It has to fit inside a 4’ by 4’ square.
They had a middle school gymnasium packed with kids doing this earlier and it really was a hoot. We’ll go again next year and hopefully have a better time.
And as a consolation I think I will make Whatsit Jr. that french toast casserole dealie that FCM linked to.
