The MMP That Drives Like an Idiot

kai - as it happens, I just now made it with frozen peaches. I expect it’ll be fine. Usually I use canned, packed in juice peaches, and I mix some of the juice in with the butter and brown sugar, so this one may not be as syrupy. So it’ll be less drippy to eat, right?

Since there are just 2 of us, I halve the recipe, but I use 4 eggs instead of 3. When you come right down to it, I did a lot of tweaking to the original recipe, but it’s not like it’s hard to modify, right? Num.

I’m back. Trying to maintain my cool after TVMan’s conversation with CedarPointEx. Really, I guess it was no big deal and I’m overreacting. I guess I do that now everytime that she calls.

Hopefully we’re going out tonight unless I pick a fight about what the parts of the conversation were about that I couldn’t hear.

I would have soooo kicked ass at that.

I once made a fort

and it had a drawbridge

and a catapult

and it had some treeeees

and I had some gray blocks

and an astronaut

and I used some dinosaur toys cuz mom said the lego horses were too much.
So there.

I’m stewing… brb in the morning.

Pssst…here’s a different approach. Go out to dinner and flirt with him; tell him you love him and then go home and have great sex.

Am watching Harry Potter #5-no idea why, really. I watched some Fry and Laurie online for a bit, now I’ve got clean hair, jammies and am planning to absolutely nothing tonight. Library tomorrow–where I hope to get 2/3s done with this men’s fic thing, except that I just remembered I am to shadow the Youth Librarian tomorrow–something different at least.

Should I paint my toes? I’ve been giving them a break from nailpolish, but I think I want to purtify meself a bit.

These dementors are not nearly as scary as the old dementors. These look like fashion mummies…

Aww, but drippy/syrup-y is so good! I still have to send someone to the store for something for supper, so I’ll have them get some canned peaches, too.

Speaking of peaches, anyone hear from swampy since the big storm down his way?

Wasn’t today swampy’s St. Pat’s day thing at church?? If I recall, he was gonna be cooking and all. So no doubt he’s being all churchy.

**kai ** - good idea - frozen and canned!

I remember he was gonna be busy cooking, I guess I just had church/Sunday/cooking all together in my head.

Aw, pie, I always hated when my ex used to talk/get together with his ex. rigs is giving you good advice. After all, she may have spoken with him, but you are there with him.

I know what you mean about the dementors rigs, but then my mind movies as I read are always better than what makes it to the screen. I had a couple of new movies arrive today, Dragon Wars and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang*. The latter is on the schedule for tonight!

btw, skiffman is driving me crazy, he is having one of those days when he is feeling like he’s all that and a bag of chips and being silly. It’s like having another kid sometimes! :stuck_out_tongue:

And he is the reason my coding sucked and I missed the edit window…silly man needs to go catch some fish! :stuck_out_tongue:

I got nothin’

I slept til 2pm, looked at the cat, said screw it and went back to sleep for another two hours.

I am such a slug.

jngl, my hats off to you for your fabulous choice in listening material. Most excellent album.

Wish I could say the same for those of you who are singing the praises of Great Big Sea… but ew. Their music gives me flashbacks of that summer I spent working in the tourist district of Halifax. My boss felt that the best way to get people to buy crappy souvenirs of the maritimes was to blast GBS and Natalie McMaster and Ashley McIsaac aaaaaaall day long. Tis’ the stuff that nightmares are made of - drunken sailors fresh on shore leave and seniors fresh off the cruise ship, fighting over the last Canadian flag beanie baby to the strains of “Lukey”. shudder

Today was a gorgeous day. I got to pull out the spring jacket, even. YAY! We spent the morning being lazy, then popped out to run some errands in the neighbourhood. I’m just itching for warm weather, because that means that the farmer’s market will start up again in the park down the street, and that’s my favourite part of Saturday errands.

We also went to see Be Kind, Rewind after dinner tonight. Verdict: cute movie, but somewhat empty, which seems to be typical of Michel Gondry’s films. He’s a brilliant director, but someone needs to tell him to get a proper scriptwriter, or just stick to music videos if he insists on doing his own thing. Also, Mos Def mumbles too much, and Jack Black is a little too spastic when he’s allowed to do his own thing.

Home, tired, hurting. Made a LOL[del]cat[/del] dog for St. Patrick’s Day.

kai, hit skiffman upside the head with a fish, just for the halibut.

Hello from Telluride, Colorado. Rocky Mountain High, etc. While the beer is more expensive here, the altitude means I don’t need as many. Unfortunately, I’ll be here for St Pats instead of home in Chicago where I belong.

Last year, I got to Chief O’Neill’s around 11am. Many beers were downed and I ended up walking 5 miles home. Great night. Subgreat morning.

The place I’m staying in here is way out of my league. Very, very nice, great location, new appliances, furninshed with antiques and tasteful appointments. Maximum boost to my hosts.

Yea, that’s a good Friday record. I really like the “Hey Joyce. You’re my choice” sample.

Morning all. Working from home (well, kinda working … okay, not really working at all!).

I knew you guys would like to see those pics. If I was looking at buying that place, my first task would be to find out whether the living room columns are structural; the second, where to hire a sandblaster. The actual floorplan is good, but Og the decor…
An ugly house at the Keys? Location, location, location! I’ll sandblast as needed! So long as the bathroom isn’t on the third floor I’m fine.
Mom is threatening hell and damnation because Lilbro is a pampered, selfish moron. Don’t look at me, I was forbidden from asking him for help when we were growing up. There was even one day when Middlebro and myself protested for this and Lilbro said “well, they’re right,” and my parent’s response was to laugh it off. The two eldest couldn’t do anything right, the youngest couldn’t do anything wrong… which is the one who eats up all of Mom’s yoghurts (including the varieties he normally wouldn’t touch) while she’s out at the Gramps’, and doesn’t buy fresh ones? Which is the one who cleaned out the cookies (again, including Mom’s sugarfree) and again didn’t replace? Which is the one who only phoned her once, to ask whether there was any frozen salmon… and didn’t find it even though there was? She’s now threatening with divorcing the whole family and I’m wondering whether that would be a bad thing, while doing my best to ahum at the right spots.

Good Sunday morning folks! I’m already up and caffeinating here; I’m going to put my corned beef and cabbage on early - not using the crock pot this year, going to do it on top of the stove, so it’ll cook most of the day. I hope Swampy’s church St. Patrick’s Day feast went okay and that the Swampster himself is okay, with all that terrible weather down in GA!

Wish that I’d been able to join kaiwik in that banya. And kai, you must share pics with us when the pups arrive!!

Yesterday was so nice here - it got quite warm for March (high 60s/low 70s) and now many of the cherry trees are beginning to blossom. It was also our usual SHARE day, but when my daughter went to the distribution part, the person never showed up! SHARE, btw, is a Catholic-run charity that buys food at wholesale, bulk prices then packages it up for distribution to the buyers at $18/pkg. once a month. You’re supposed to do a few hours of volunteer service each month as well (like helping on packaging Saturday). They often have a special package as well each month, usually it’s mostly more meats; each monthly package has meats, veggies, fruits and sometimes even “dessert” items. It’s not much but it costs about half of what you’d have to pay in the grocery store and it’s usually good stuff (although once we got some fish fillets which must have been bad … yech! :().

Anyway, after several calls to the warehouse, it turns out the distributor never turned in a list for March (damn!), but they were going to refund our money anyway. We normally pay for the next month when we pick up the monthly package, which this month included a special of a whole spiral sliced ham ($20 for that). As I was wondering what to do about Easter Dinner next Sunday (heh), the distributor showed up at our door, with a spiral ham and a couple of other items; she also refunded the $18 for the regular food package. I don’t know what happened exactly; she’s not going to be doing the distribution at our center any more (wonder why?!) so now we have to find some place else. Believe it or not, I still want to participate in the program; it’s good and I like it and I like being part of something that actually helps people without being a hand-out, but it does make me sad that things like this are why donations to charitable organizations are down.

And now I’ll get off my soapbox! :stuck_out_tongue: Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday.

tarra, I’m pretty sure **swampy ** lives quite a few miles from Atlanta - like maybe half a state away - so his absence probably has more to do with green beer than funnel clouds. On the other hand, he might have been abducted by aliens, and boy would I pity them. Can you just see Mr. Swampington Bear redecorating their flying saucer?!? “And those silver jumpsuits - that is soooooooo not working for you!!”

Yep, they’d bring him back and take Earth off their GPS, or whatever flying saucers have.

I’ve been up since a bit after 5. I watched the news for a while, then decided to drag my sad old self outta the sack. Critters have been tended to, including a certain big, black sack of hair who decided to go walkabout. In the rain. I don’t think she left the yard, but she refused to come when I called her, FOUR different times. Idiot dog. But she’s back, panting behind me right now.

I’ll start heating up the oven in about half an hour, and the casserole should be ready before 9. That’ll give me time to eat before heading to Mom’s.

I may have sold the bedroom set already - one woman said she’d come by this morning to see it (if it wasn’t raining, which it is) and another is going to call back this afternoon to see if the morning lady showed up. So, fingers crossed…

Beyond that, not much. So a happy good Sunday morning to all!

Mornin’ Mumpers!!

:: waves to the night shift, if they’re still around ::

I’ve finally caught up on the pages of the MMP that I missed yesterday. HawkeyeOP was on the computer for 9.5 hours yesterday drafting his fantasy baseball team with his equally dorky 11 friends. Obviously these guys have nothing better to do…

I went shopping to get out of the house. I hate shopping. I think it’s because I’m so picky. There are certain criteria that I look for when buying almost anything. Like clothes need to fit. <rant> I tried on a pair of pants at Target yesterday that said, “Sits below the waist.” So, knowing that most pants that say that should sit at the waist actually sit in the vicinity of my chest, I figured I’d try these on. Where do they sit? Oh, three inches above my waist. I hate pants that do that!! I need my low-rise pants, then I have a chance of them actually sitting at my waist. I’m just built funny, I guess. I just hate that it’s so hard to find good plus size pants that fit well. Urg! </rant> I also picked up some Cadbury Creme and Caramel eggs there. Not that those will help with the pants issue. :smack: While I was at the mall, I popped into the Apple store and got my first ipod. Welcome to the digital age to me. It’s a small nano, I figure it’s a good starter. So, one of my projects today is too load my CD’s onto the laptop and buy a song or two from itunes.

Other projects include grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning the kitchen and bathroom, and buying a vacuum. I’m sure I’ll add more to this list later, but this may be a day where I have way more planned than can be done. :frowning: It happens. A lot of it depends on how HawkeyeOP is feeling. He wasn’t feeling well last night, but we’ll see. I don’t really look forward to carting a vacuum around on the bus, but that’s why there is Zipcar.

Swampy we’re thinkin’ about ya. I hope everything is OK and you’re not too drunk to post or anything…On second thought, can someone be too drunk to post?

Nava that decor is interesting.

FCM recipe looks tasty, but it could use some chocolate.

What, do I sound like I have PMS or something?

Chocolate! :smack: Of course!!!

'morning you guys. We just got in from the banya, as we had a lot of company, and a couple of folks stayed rather late. Banya was good, not as hot as I like it, but it took the knots out of my shoulders and neck and knocked the ache out of my joints. Holy cow is it raining out! The ground is still frozen, so all the rain/melted snow/ice is sitting on the suface of the ground, brr. I was going to take pictures of the banya inside, but it got too hot too fast, I will do it soon and share.

Nava, your current nest is not completely bad, or else I have horrid taste, which may very well be the case. I kinda like the columns… Oh, and the dynamics of my family sound remarkably similar to yours, my youngest brother always got away with everything, while my middle brother and I were always blamed/made to do chores and run errands. At least my mom has come to her senses late in life, and now I am considered the good child.

herbs I hear you on the donations to charitable organizations being cut, and a lack of stewardship by those handling said donations. I used to help bag up food for the Salvation Army food bank, and suddenly Safeway (the main grocer here) decided that it would no longer donate food, choosing to put it in the dumpster instead. There are a lot of transients and low income families here who depended on that food to help get through the month, and it is being eaten by feral cats and wildlife. Such a shame.

And of course I will share puppy photos when they get here, and as they grow until they go to their homes. I have five people on my waiting list, and this girl (Tara) has, in the past, had two litters of four puppies each, so at least one person is going to be disappointed. This will be my last litter, and I am looking forward to spring puppies. Unless a black and tan female shows up in this litter, (it could happen, but I am not holding my breath) in which case I would keep her for the future. Otherwise Mojo’s Pomeranians (The Truly Interactive Toys!) will simply be a haven for my babies.

Upon proofing the last paragraph I noticed that I am responding to Tarra and my female pom is called Tara!

Urgh, it’s 3:12 am, I need to drag myself into bed. I will try to stick my head in here tomorrow while my own corned beef dinner is simmering on the stove top. I. need. sleep.

(again on proofreading I see that the rest of the country is waking up. Goodnight to you guys too!)
