The MMP That Drives Like an Idiot

Mostly down, actually

I don’t think you’re the target of that e-mail you got – more of an innocent bystander. If I had to guess, I’d say Chinese Girl probably said “no,” or – more likely – “goodbye” to somebody, who is **not quite intelligent enough to forge a letter from her – and get her in trouble – successfully.

Oh, and he had her e-mail because they probably were together for a while. Ditto her name in Chinese (which she probably signed her mails with)

Or I’m building up a whole conspiracy theory here… :stuck_out_tongue:

OP for tomorrow is written and ready; I’ll be posting it around noon IST (or about 6 AM EDT), so that it’s Monday for everybody – including Kai

Tigs – I’m drooling here right along with your darling daughter! Jumbo Jumbo shrimp… mmmmm… I’m a sucker for sea-food of almost all kinds (except, interestingly, crab  )

Good afternoon one and all.

It’s been a pretty quiet morning and afternoon. I’m embarrassed to write that we slept until 10:00 am, but we stayed up late last night, so I guess we were making up our sleep.

In just a short while, I am going to take my daughter out job hunting. The girl needs a job and a car!

There’s not a lot else going on, I guess. We spent the day hanging out yesterday and did some cleaning up together. Then, I was roped into going to my friend’s “Purse Party” . Nothing there appealed to me, but I did buy a wallet because I needed a new one and felt somewhat obligated to buy something. Besides, I’m not paying nearly a hundred bucks for “knock-off” purses. If I want the name brand, I’ll pay for the real thing. Additionally, I really like the nice purse I already have.

Afterwards, we tried to go bowling, but there weren’t any open lanes because it was League Night everywhere. So, we went and got ice cream at Dairy Queen instead. I really regretted that too, dammit. I have to be EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA good now. I also had quite the tummy ache from eating it.

Well, I should finish getting myself ready to go. Blech…I really wish my daughter already had a job. This is not going to be fun. She’s in a pretty cranky mood today anyway.

The board already denies me access randomly. I’ve know that for years. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ummmmm… Drop Kick Me Jesus Through The Goal Post Of Life?

We churched, lunched and napped. That sums up life at da cave today. ‘Tis warm outside and bees are buzzin’ all around my Bradford Pear trees, which bloomed out in all their glory yesterday. The trees that is. I don’t think bees bloom but I’m not an entomologist, so what do I know.

Nothings up.
It’s down.

Seriously, WHAT THE HELL?

The servers have been loopy for most of today. It’s really irritating. Why do none of the other forums I visit have this problem? Grrr.

No kidding. TPTB need to change their brand of hamster chow. I don’t think this one agrees with our little server runners.

I’m hungry. Somebody wanna come make me a sammich? No? Fine then I’ll do it myself.

We’ve returned from job hunting for my daughter. The first place she applied at was out of applications. This is the second time she’s applied there and they didn’t have any.

Next she asked for and received an application from Bed, Bath and Beyond. Borders requires one to apply on-line, so that’s what she’s doing. PetCo also requires you to apply on-line, so she’s going to do that too. She received an actual hard copy application from Aaron Brothers Framing, so she’ll fill it out and take it back. Michael’s requires an on-line application and she’s going back to Pier One because they have an in-store application, but didn’t have some of her referral info with her. She’s also going to re-apply at Safeway (also on-line).

I wanted to take her to the mall too, but she figured she had plenty of places to start. Also, I think the whole process intimidates her a little. Let’s face it, we all know it’s nervewracking to go in and ask for job applications.

I was finally successful in obtaining a USB turntable for my husband. As it turns out, I got the last one. We’re currently setting it up, but I don’t think he has the whole scale weight/counterweight thing done right on the stylus arm.
He doesn’t want to listen to me, so I’ll him figure it out.

I should check on my daughter’s job application process.

Heh, on edit I’m telling you to make me a sammich, **Swampy. ** I’m hungry too.

I tried to post earlier this afternoon, but I guess the servers were having none of it.

Anyways … thanks Kaiwik for making the distinction between me and the Pom Tara! That did make me giggle!! Glad to hear that the banya was nice too - I’ve never been in a steam bath before, so I’m very jealous.

Glad to hear too that **Swampy ** is okay, although I did later recall that he’s in south GA. Sorry for those poor folks in the Atlanta area though. :frowning:

I had a whole post complaining about the SHARE program, which wasn’t really about the program itself but that my March package didn’t get put in. I did write about it in my LJ account (tarragon918 there too), if you’re -really- interested. It’s actually more that I’m disappointed.

Hope this post goes through …

ETA: thankfully it did!

**Swampy ** didn’t make me a sammich, so I had to settle for string cheese. I just thought I’d share that. I was really looking forward to a sammich too, something like a nice BLT. How could you deny me that, Swampy  ?

Making a sandwich would involve me standing up, dumping Olive onto the floor, and walking all the way to the kitchen. Bah.

I SHOULD be at a friend’s right now, but I’m not. I’m way behind in my work. And I can’t be bothered to put on my face and change my clothes. And walk out the door, for that matter.

Mr Cheerio said something yesterday about That Guy’s reaction to my imminent departure that’s thrown me into a turmoil all over again. Plus I’ve been hanging out at the ESL forums and become really depressed at the idea of hanging out with those people again. It’s so hard to find sane and interesting people among ESL teachers in Korea. So many of them are just full of self-pity and anger. Granted, living as a foreigner in Korea sucks. Hell, I hated living there, and I AM Korean. But I just got into this heated exchange with some douche who accused me of being “a spoiled Korean with no college degree, who gets by on the little bit of English they know” - seriously, what? I’d like nothing better than to bitchslap him into next week. The sad thing is that is the general tone of those boards and of many ESL teachers in Korea in general.

:: repeats to self: it’s only one year, it’s only one year . . . ::

I can’t tell you how much I literally get depressed everytime I hear this. I’m not trying to guilt you, but it just seems like so much suck.

Can’t I just hide you in my apartment for a year, while things work out? I have internet access, and a futon. I live next to Tufts University, there are plenty of kids there who need help.

I don’t want you to go.

:frowning:

I should add that I have a bed AND a futon. I wasn’t trying to insinuate anything.

And mmouse lives practically next door. You two can eat ice cream in Davis Square then see a movie!

I got stuck at work, missed hockey, cut my arm on the dumpster.

Beebs, #2! :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t want to to go, either Haze!!

Why does it have to be an entire year? And you can find those jerks here at the Dope! (seriously–I love it here, but we do get several cross sections of humanity).

I didn’t understand earlier that it was the Dope that was being cranky–I thought that several people were only starting threads with no actual post content. Then I went to work at the library and forgot all about it.

I need to go do MORE library work now. Ugh, but I have to get it done.

Online retail job application sucks big time. I wish her luck!

Minor work ARRRRRRGH. People, if you call me and I listen to whatever you’re asking about, waiting for you to pause, please don’t get impatient with me if I don’t say something the absolute instant you stop talking. I don’t know if you’re done yet, and I don’t want to interrupt you, which is equally likely to annoy you!

Yo, everyone. Just got home last night, and damn is it cold!

I was mostly absent the last few days because I was too busy vacationing and such.

I ate a big dinner. Full. Nap.

Well, most likely the student visa I get will become valid sometime next summer, which would make it about a year. Maybe a year and few months.

Awww, beebs, doggie. I don’t want to go either. But apparently life is full of stuff nobody wants to do. Sigh.

Off to grade papers. So . . . many . . . papers . . .

And you have a problem with that?!

Cheeseincrust, I’ve done my best to stop myself from starting a couple of craptactular threads this year, but even still, they’re by far my favorite!

Almost time for pizza. More later.
