That’s what I get for posting uncaffienated! But at least I know how to say it. Heck, in October, I went through there!
kai, that sounds heavenly!
Not much happening here. I was told a realtor would be coming over to look at the place today. She did, for all of one minute; she came in, said hello, ran up the stairs, and ran back out saying she had a ton to look at today. I’m not sure what she could have seen in ten seconds, but whatever. I don’t sell overpriced condos!
The guys at work still think I should have a party. I’m still thinking about it.
ems – yikes! You aren’t allowed to be stressed out, do you hear me??? I’m glad you found out what was going on, now behave yourself and keep your pressure down.
Flutterby, if I can remember to take my camera with me sometime in the next day or so I’ll take pictures of my tires so you can see what studded snow tires look like. They’re filthy – you can tell who the people from out of town are because their cars aren’t – but they have these itty bitty studs in them. I don’t think too many people up here get them, but since this was my first winter and I have a lightweight little car, I wanted them!
yawn I should head up and move some clothes from the dryer. But that involves moving, and I’m feeling lazy. But I don’t want my roommate having to move a load that includes my underwear, so I suppose I should go do it.
okay - I am now caught up. I avoid driving snowy, icy roads if I can help it. Fortunately, here on Lawn Guylandt, that’s not a problem. We get maybe one or two significant snows a season, and within a day or two the roads I need to travel are completely clear (I usually use the excuse that I cannot get out of my driveway, even if my landscaper (who shovels) has come and gone - they (work) believe me - they know I cannot shovel out on my own.) What we have gotten, on more than one occassion, is torrential rain complete with road flooding.
When I go away to NJ or Philly, I frequently use the Belt Parkway and the Verrazano Bridge (coming back, the reverse). One especially rainy March Sunday a few years ago, I was on my way back from NJ. Lots of traffic, lots of rain and sloshy roads. I can deal. But it was scary just the same. It was extremely windy and The Verrazano Narrows* (which the bridge crosses) was very choppy and up well beyond high tide - to the point that waves crested over the wall onto to parkway  I could not tell where the little strip of beach was, there was so much water. And if that weren’t bad enough, the SUVs zipping past in the left and right lanes (I was trying to stay in the center one, but not being able to see the painted lines on the road made it difficult) kept splashing up my windshield blind! Naturally, by the time I got home, the sun started to come out. I thnk it knew.
Google Earth it - you’ll see what I mean about the water, beach, and parkway.
I’m caught up, too. I just finished boxing up the ugly dress to send it back from whence it came. I’ll drop it off at the post office on the way home tomorrow. Earlier, I took the van to get its tires balanced - the tire guy told me the pressure wasn’t up to snuff either, so he took care of it. It seems to ride better, so I’m thinking I’ll drive it to Orlando instead of my mom’s megatruck. Hers is a diesel (actually, it was my dad’s truck) that gets about 17MPG on the highway. My Aerostar gets 22-24 MPG on the highway, a little less when towing, plus the van isn’t near as noisy or uncomfortable as the truck.
But when we go down for the wedding, we have to take the truck because we’ll be towing new SiL’s car back with us. Oh well.
Today was rough - I was exhausted all day. Stoopit time change! It’s gonna be a melatonin night. My big excitement this week will be my Friday afternoon tit-squishin’ - woo and hoo. I’ll probably take the van for an oil change, too, since it hasn’t been done since May. Because we’ve only put on about 3000 miles since May.
I applied for 13 different vacancies at Pax River. It’s a slightly longer drive, but I don’t think it’ll be as aggravating as my current job. Plus it’ll be more convenient since my commute will bring me past various stores so I can shop enroute if necessary. Fingers crossed!
Sniff I talked to my sis a little bit ago. Her daughter (my youngest niece and baby, who is seventeen) is going to work part-time for Wally*World starting Wednesday. Sniff They grow up so fast! Niece’s take on it all? She’s excited cause she gets the employee discount. Ahhh the priorities of youth!
I don’t like Mondays!
Tell me why
old 80s song. I actually don’t hate Mondays more than the rest of you. I actually hate all the days of the week more than the rest of you. I don’t believe in showing favoritism.
wasn’t it written about the answer some girl gave when they asked her why she shot up her school or something like that? I seem to recall the dj saying something like that one time
eta - it just came up on iTunes! - I like the beginning - it sounds like a thunderstorm
and more

I did not know that. but the lyrics go on to say that he wants to shoot the whole day down. Gah.
I did not want to get up today. I hate the time change.
Nice OP. I’ve had my share of winter driving experiences and can handle my vehicle and myself pretty well. I really remember only one time that turned into a true white-knuckle ride. I was being a good employee and driving on I-5 to head into work. Unfortunately, the night before we had quite a freeze and I-5 was a literal sheet of ice. I was doing very well until less than a mile before my exit ramp. Somehow I hit a big patch of ice and did a complete, but very slow series of 360s. Fortunately, traffic was light due to the weather and I was able to completely avoid any other cars and the freeway barrier.
The few other cars that were out there with me managed to hit the same patch of ice and did the same thing as me. It was like watching a car ballet.
After my car righted itself, I went on my merry way to work.
Swampy, I posted that recipe for the garlic/chili rub steak in the other MMP. Did you see it?
I guess I should get cracking on dinner. Not that I really feel like it, but it needs to be done.
Someone stop me from browsing eBay! I found a Marc by Marc Jacobs dress that I really really like. Dresses are so impractical though. Must stop buying dresses! :smack:
Tell you what, Haze… take the money you were going to spend on the dress and mail it to me. Step away from the eBay!
I can put it to good use, honest!
See, our furnace just kicked the bucket. Again. A wee bit over 2 months since it last kicked the bucket. And it’s a NEW goddamn furnace that was installed just before we bought the house (or so they told us).
AAARRRGH.
Keep renting, kids. Home ownership ain’t what it’s cracked up to be.
(and okay… I might use any leftover cash to buy shoes, because I’m going to need some serious shopping therapy tomorrow)
The Marc Jacobs dress had a reserve price, but I entered the absolute maximum amount I was willing to pay, and whaddya know, I hit the reserve. Now I’m just praying no one else takes an interest, because I can’t afford to spend a dollar more on clothes this month. Grumble.
Now, if only the stupid weather would cooperate so I could actually WEAR these dresses once I get them.
I’m a bit worried because there were people bidding before me - I’m just hoping they won’t bother with the dress now, since their initial maximum bids were lower than mine.
Olive keeps trying to eat my students’ papers. And my textbooks. Hm.
Students: Ms. HazelNutCoffee, when will we get back our papers?
Me: Oh, sorry. My cat ate 'em. Y’all were probably going to get Cs anyway.
