The MMP That Drives Like an Idiot

I wanna banya now, too. Getting mildly whipped with alder strips sounds nice–and not in THAT way, people.

I don’t wear dresses. I thereby deign to decree that Hazel shall have all my dresses. This essentially doubles her dress budget, yet the number of dresses does not increase. See, it’s green to boot!

I need to fold laundry.

I’d offer her mine as well (I haven’t worn a dress, other than for a wedding or two) in almost 10 years. Thing is, we could fit 4 Haze’s in one of my dresses.

Here it is.

Remember that blue dress I showed you guys in the last MMP? The bidding ends in 20 minutes. Some sneaky bi-yotch, after making a half-hearted bid a few days ago, JUST snuck in a second bid.

Nice try, but no dice. That dress is mine. Even if I have to pay five more dollars than I thought I would. :smack: Ah well.

Damnit. That girl really wanted that dress! She seriously waited until like 10 seconds before the bidding ended before raising the stakes.

Ah well. It was my first time actually engaging in a bidding war for anything, so I made the mistake of being complacent. I should have raised my maximum bid near the end, just to be safe.

Hopefully I’ll do better on the Marc Jacobs dress.

It must be an eBay kind of night, I just did two BIN for three jasmine plants and three mexican feather grass clumps. Jim bought me a star jasmine for our anniversary last year, and I’ve been drooling for more since. He just wanted me to wait to see if I could handle the care over the winter. Duh! With the net at my fingertips, I was able to check on the care for all of these, and my thumb is greener all the time.
So now I’ll be anxiously awaiting for these to come in the mail, then waiting for blooms/fruition.
Over at the new house the old owner was a proper lady who grew things. I just have no idea what yet. I saw some green plants sticking their heads up this week, and the blooms were white and bell like. After a bit of research I’ve found them to be snowbells. I’m anxious to see what else will come up. And trying to figure out where to transplant the bulbs and roots from here, I don’t want to disturb her beds, and wreck anything I might later regret.

On another random note, Cartoon Network is playing Voltron. I don’t remember it being as cheesey as I see it now, but Jimmy seems to love it.

Pugs , just wanted to let you know how sorry I am that you lost the old lady cat.

{{{hugs}}}

It’s tough when you’ve had them that long.

Home. Only a 9 hour day tomorrow.

You enjoy tormenting me, don’t you?

Oh yes, there will be beer.

Sorry about the oven, rigs.

I’m all sore thanks to work today. Only I really am thankful…

A guy called in sick so I had to run and gun: visit several factories to inspect and calibrate the equipment my employer deals in: scales. I had to lift 50lb grab weights literally (counts) 100 times that I can think of. I used to do this all the time but I’ve been promoted to housemouse and don’t do many pallet scales by hand anymore. It feels good to get out there, visit a roachcoach, bluff my way through a conversation with truckers and shipping/receiving guys about sports and bang some weights around.

I made the tuna tonight. It smelled really fresh so I went with a simple prepration: rinse and pat dry tuna steak, brush with olive&sesame oil, dredge in salt, pepper and sesame seeds. Sear on redhot ridged side of grill pan. Finish with plenty of lime juice. It turned out simply delicious. Next time, I’m going to try a lime juice based sauce with palm sugar and a touch of filtered fish sauce.

I have two pics to share today:
Bottled giardiniera
This made me laugh. Christmas was two and a half months ago…sheesh.

I live in Idaho Falls. Yeah, yeah, there’s a reason I don’t advertise that! I’m playing; IF has diversified a teeny-tiny bit and doesn’t seem quite as confining as it did during my teenage years. 'course, that could very well be a change in my attitude, too. Who knows (or cares)? It is what it is.

Yayyyy! Boomtown Rats - Bob Geldof’s old band! Yeah, the song was written about a true story of a young girl who shot up her school (or something like that). When the police asked her why she did it, she said “I don’t like Mondays!” snopes link

I must introduce you to Bidnapper and sniping - it gets your bid in at the last possible second so other bidders won’t have any chance to react.

As a side benefit, you don’t have to worry about missing an auction if you’ve set up a snipe with Bidnapper.

DH is back in Sacramento and once again the dog is moping around waiting for him to get back home. Strange how she knows “Leaving to go away overnight” from “Leaving to go to the grocery store.” As soon as the truck was out of sight, she plopped down in her “lookout” spot in the dining room. DH said she barely budged from that spot when I was away for training a couple weeks ago. I don’t know waht I’ll do if he’s accepted to the academy - he’ll be gone for sixteen weeks and only home for about 36 hours on the weekends. Heck, what will I do?

Invisible Tenant is well, invisible. I saw him tonight for about 20 minutes at dinnertime, then he went to bed at 7:30. Starting to wonder if he caught African Sleeping Sickness from a tse-tse fly or if he’s clinically depressed. When he’s active, he is useful - two weeks ago, he cleaned and tuned up the furnace and put in a fancy programmable thermostat. (He’s an HVAC tech) But normally, I don’t see enough of him in a day to exchange more than a dozen or so words.

Am I making sense? I’m a bit gorked on percocet and benadryl now. The percocet is for my back nd the benadryl is to combat the itching because I’m allergic to nearly all pain meds. The ones I’m not allergic to do nothing for me and the ones I am allergic to don’t do much. About all that really works for me is trigger point injections. When they’re in the right place, they’re magic, but they only last for about a week.

Nice!

I hope linky works for Wallflower, but in any case it’s a recent thread from IMHO, right now on second page. Apparently LOOOOOOTS of Dopers met their SOs online.

I has the GRRRRRs. This week and for the next unknow-time I’m staying at a flat my agency recently bought in Madrid. The décor is… La Granja de San Ildefonso meets a Chinese Restaurant. I don’t have my camera here and am off work next week, but I promise I’ll take pics two weeks from now and upload them so y’all can see them. There’s moldings everywhere, including on the doors; engravings and small oil paintings in very-heavy frames, surrounded by molding; corinthian columns; a set of three lightable (but not electrified atm) “pictures” of birds (in shiny relief) in my bedroom. The wallpaper can’t be vintage but sure looks it. At least on the upper part of the walls they went and subscribed to one of the current schools of Spanish decorating, the one where walls get painted in bright colors. My bedroom’s upper walls are turquoise; the living room, mustard. That has nothing to do with the GRRRRRs, though.

What gives me the GRRRRRs is that we have no internet. In a flat with a programmer and three computer consultants, all below the age of 40 (at least for a few days), no intawebs! I saw it when I arrived but figured I’d wait until the guy taking me there had left; I don’t believe in arguing with the sergeant when a captain’s handy, plus I was already starting to dislike him intensely. His dirs would have been fine if I’d been from Madrid, but if I’d been from Madrid I wouldn’t be using that flat; from some remarks he made I think he only leaves Madrid to go to his beach apartment in Alicante, he couldn’t comprehend the idea of someone not reading the Madrid newspapers. The guys told me they’ve asked about it and this guy, Pepe, told them if they want it they can get it themselves. Now, this wouldn’t be a problem if being at the flat was a stable situation; the reason they haven’t gotten it isn’t lack of money or excess of stinginess: it’s that none of us knows how long we’ll stay! And if the person who’s signed the internet contract leaves, the name on the contract has to be changed. That’s assuming the ISP accepts this, many would make us end the contract (which may carry a final “extra” payment) and then get a new one (with, gee, a fee for new contract!).

So when the agency’s owner asks how’s the flat, I’ll tell him it’s got one big defect and one small defect. The small defect I’ll solve myself - there’s no microwave, but I have one that’s just collecting dust so I’ll bring it over, I don’t mind leaving it behind when I go. But the big defect, d’uh…

Thanks Taters! I’ll go back and get the recipe.

Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. That’s about all I can say for my activity level at the moment.

Have a good day Y’all!

Up and caffeinating! Happy Tuesday, Mumpers.

Wow, Nava, I didn’t know they allowed flats without internets any more. That’s really shortsighted of them. I’ll look forward to the pictures, though. The decor sounds memorable.

Glad you linked to that thread. I thought about doing that yesterday and then forgot again.

Cute dress, Hank. I think I like it better than the first one.

I think I missed what DH’s training is for, gotti. Poor lonely puppy.

I’m still sleepy, but I’m up, trying to get used to DST. Ick.

I’ve had two hot-cross buns and am contemplating something additional.

Is it Firday yet?

Lovely sig, beebs. I’m honored.

Up and off to work.

My baby turned 10 today!

I’m not quite sure sure how it happened  , but she’s a double digits ten-year old now.

We weren’t even sure she would make it through the pregnancy and here she is, ten and perfect (at least to us…).

What a weird year- I turned 40, my son turned 13 (teenager!), my daughter 10 (double digits) and my step son will turn 20 in two weeks.

It’s a funny mix between being happy and yet wanting to crawl into bed and sleep for a week.

Happy Birthday, my little bug.

I hate being at work with stuff to do but waiting on the detailed instructions. Laaa, la laaaaa… twiddle

Maybe I should start playing the lottery :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Birthday Soapybaby!

I do not want to go to work. That bein’ said, I am goin’ to work but I don’t wanna!

Ok, I’m through whinin’ now.
