Sapphire,

Yeah, I miss Rob’s blonde locks. On the brighter side, Bob didn’t get a really big speaking part, so I was glad.
I agree, scott- I think we looked too hard for those clues. Or rather…we looked up websites that had hidden clues. Or whatever. Maybe next season (anyone know if there will be one?) I’ll make myself stop clicking on all the Mole threads. Some of the clues were kind of dumb- the apple thing? And how were we supposed to know B’s last name was McDaniel. Some of them were all right, though. I loved how Al inadvertantly said “I dunno, maybe someone at home’s shouting Bill is the mole!” and Bob saying Darwin thought Bill was a little bit dry and slow for his taste, in terms of coalitions.
And I cannot believe Dorothy would have been eliminated that night had Elavia not split!!
Ooh, I miss it already. So does the mole get paid by ABC to do the job, or are they just in it for the “satisfaction” as Anderson said?
What I don’t understand is how the executed contestants didn’t all know Bill was the Mole. Surely, having been on the show, they could (should) have been interested enough to spent 5 minutes reading about the hidden clues on the internet, which make the answer quite obvious. All I can guess is that they were expressly forbidden to do that (impossible to enforce) or they all knew, but just made stuff up when asked who they thought the Mole was in tonight’s show for the sake of increased drama.
I won’t spoil it here as if you want it spoiled you can just look at the other posts.
I suspected they would be the Mole, so it wasn’t that much of a surprise. It was interesting to see all the clues, though. The dollar one I thought was going to relate to who is on the dollar–Washington–and the Mole’s home state. (Of course, if that were the case, then every single dollar they showed there would be a clue.)
The shots of the Mole sabotaging the games were cool. The part about Bill being ‘slow’ was hilarious but I hardly recognized any of the earlier-executed players. Bob was just a dim memory. 'Course, that happens in most long-running reality shows.
Was it just me or did the shots of the executed players grouped together seem rather blurry? And the coloring was off in the eyes when they showed the older interviews. There was that weird rainbow color that flickers sometimes.
It was very interesting to see how the coalitions affected gameplay–up till then I’d thought they were rather ineffective, as they didn’t show much of how they were affected. However, it appears they did have some bearing on the game after all.
Darn, where am I going to see Anderson now? CNN?
Also, next year I’m probably not going to be checking any threads or anything like that…it was kind of spoiled for me. Next time I will just watch it and theorize with the people I see it with, and everyone I meet who has even an inkling of what the show’s about.
Ummm ataraxy22?
I am going to assume by your post above that you didn’t know this was taped one month after the end of the game, which happened long before the show was actually aired on TV. Heck this was the 2nd time they showed this run of The Mole. The first 3 episodes of this iteration were shown last year and then the show was put on hiatus and not brought back until now.
OK. I give up. I held out until yesterday’s show actually started that HEATHER was The Mole. WRONG!
It makes perfect sense that Bill was The Mole, but my gut was telling me No.
I enjoyed last night’s show. And I really enjoyed this season of The Mole because most of it was done in Italy, my idea of heaven on earth.
I’m just concerned that this is the end of the line. That there won’t be a Mole III because its ratings during the regular season were so miserable. And I don’t think it improved much during the summer season. (Being opposite AMERICAN IDOL didn’t help it much!) Has anyone heard any rumblings about a new version of THE MOLE???
Anderson Cooper works for CNN now. There will(sadly) not be a Mole 3.
But, hey! There is a Survivor 5!(sigh).
According to several articles on www.sirlinksalot.net, Mole 3 is being considered, and Anderson would be back to host, since Stone Stanley Entertainment has him under contract.
Yes he is still contracted as someone said, but besides, even if we didn’t know that, how would his departure ensure that the show would not come back?
Man, another Mole would freakin’ RULE!
I thought that might be the reason too, Mullinator, except I specifically remember Anderson saying to the executed contestants, something to the effect of, “now that you’ve seen all the episodes, who do you think is the mole”. How would the contestants have seen all the episodes, if they hadn’t aired yet? Even getting them all edited in 1 month would be a push.
Also, I remember reading that no money was to be awarded until the shows actually aired, and I remember recent(ish) (this past spring) interviews of some of the players who were in the dark about the outcome of the show. They wouldn’t have been in the dark if the “reunion” episode had been taped 1 month after the end of the game!
All I can say was the Coop’s snarkyness and feigned disdain for the players was the best part of this installment.
If there is a God in heaven, there will be another Mole with my Anderson as host. MINE MINE MINE.
And thanks, NotWithoutRage- she looked great. I’m glad she didn’t cry!
I remember reading a thread back when this series ended the first time after three episodes - someone said that the contestants would not know who won or who was the Mole until/unless the final episode aired. Also, Andersen said that it had been “many months” since they’d filmed.
As for the finale…bah. I was really rooting for Heather, despite the increasingly obvious truth. My only reason for doing so was that I thought I had spotted her sabotaging a game without anyone noticing, and I wanted to feel smart. During the gnome game, Andersen specifically said that they couldn’t grease each others’ gnome. Heather greased Bill’s. It was never mentioned, but I thought for sure I was on to something. Ah, well. Mole III! Mole III!!
Ahem. He bats for my team.
The finale was taped in October. This is straight from the mouths of several of the contestants to a writer for my site. They obviously screened all the episodes long before we saw them.
And to everybody who still thought, going into this, that it wasn’t Bill: What the hell were you thinking?!
David,
I thought it was Bill. I knew it was Bill.
But, deep down inside, I hoped it was Elavia Heee
I enjoyed watching the clips of the mole-ish stuff that Bill did.
I really liked that he was the mastermind behind that Bribs/Ali at the bar thing. Y’know, keeping them there with the promise of more beer and planting the seed of an exemption. You have to love that no one even realized it was him throwing the apple of discord.
It was also so funny that he nearly gave it away to Heather- saying he always sat in the same place…
If the contestants had gone to the Straight Dope after they left, they would have known it was Bill, but maybe they took a vow not to. Or they were just coached. I wish I had been surprised- I really like being taken by storm.
I saw on abc.com that they had details about auditioning for the Mole 3, so I hope that that is in the works. Anyone here 21 or over going to try out? Must have committed no felonies/misdeamonurs, so I’m sure a lot of you are out- kidding, kidding!!
Agreed. That is the kind of sabotage I really love.
I read in our local newspaper this morning that VARIETY is reporting that THE MOLE may NOT be dead, that ABC was happy with the audience that THE MOLE II brought to their channel. So let’s keep fingers crossed! And it’s got to be Anderson Cooper running the show! Nobody else could do it as well. He is a honey!
