The little synopses in the paper say on tonight’s episode two players form a coalition against the others. Any guesses on who the coalition members might be? (My guess is Dorothy & Heather, kind of a gals against guys thing!)
From the previews last week, it certainly looked like Dorothy and Heather. Once again, I’m changing my finger pointing of the mole, and leaning toward Bill. I think the producers are trying to make it look like Dorothy, and I will be very disappointed if she is the mole. So, for this week, I think Bill is the mole.
I’m guessing that Al will be the next to go, Bill is the mole. I don’t know…just a thought.
Spoiler!
Bribs is gone. I still maintain Bill is the Mole.
I wanted Heather to get that exemption so badly. I don’t usually pull for her, but MAN.
Other random thoughts:
- Al the Watcher was smart to force the tower watchers to rotate, but Al the Tracker totally ignored Bill’s signal to run.
- I’m sort of glad to see Bribs go. I was hoping it would be Al, but maybe he’ll get his next week.
- I am slowly being pulled into the Bill is the Mole camp.
- Dorothy is HARSH. I don’t want to like her- I don’t!!
I’m not too surprised about the events. Dorothy is harsh, Sapphire- despite her coalition, she didn’t hesitate to vote down Heather. Heather didn’t call her on it- at least not on camera. Dorothy definitely knows what she’s doing. Al was smart to rotate- looks like he’s getting more mistrustful as the game goes on. I really wanted Heather to get that exemption. She was sooo close, too. I cannot wait until next week!
Hey - explain this:
At the end, they said that there were 4 contestants left, and three episodes still to go. That doesn’t add up. After two more episodes, assuming they boot someone off both times, there will only be two contestants left. Well, one contestant and the Mole. At that point, they’ll know who the Mole is. We wouldn’t, but they would, so there wouldn’t be much point in games, would there?
So how do they do this? I assume I’d understand if I’d seen the original show, but I didn’t. So if someone could explain, I’d appreciate it.
I saw the last few last season. They’ll do one episode with the four of them (Al, Bill, Dorothy, and Heather). Then someone gets executed, and we continue on with the remaining three. We do two more episodes with the remaining three contestants. And the end of the second ep, there is no execution. But at the end of the third, we finally see who won, who lost, and of course…who the mole is.
“Bill is the mole”
This guy seems to be a favorite, maybe its his tone of voice, which I can’t hear?
Two things here. First, Bill has done quite a few Mole-like things during the show, starting all the way back in the very first episode. A few of the high points:
-
In the first episode, he and Darwin had to assign players to one of three games, one of which was fairly strenuous. (Riding a mountain bicycle up a hill then hitting a bulls-eye with a crossbow.) Rob specifically tells Bill that he is not very athletic but Bill puts him in the most strenuous game and wagers the most money on that game.
-
One game involved players having to tread water. Bill, who is an ex-Navy Admiral, insisted he would do well but was only able to tread water for 7 minutes.
-
Another game required the players to solve several puzzles. Bill insisted he was very good at mathmatical puzzles but got a math puzzle very wrong.
There are quite a few others, but these give you an idea.
Then, there are the hidden clues. The two most significant are:
-
In one episode the players received a telegram from “The Mole”. There was a telephone number on the telegram. If you look at the letters on a telephone dial corresponding to the numbers in the phone number you will find that they spell out “THE MOLE IS BILL”.
-
The opening credits show pictures of all of the remaining players. After the last player is shown the screen dissolves to a swirling display of letters and numbers which fade out and are replaced by the title.
In the 7/9 episode, at one point during the swirling letters the word “AdMiRaL” appears. It is quite clear. Bill, of course, is an ex-Navy admiral.
So, it looks pretty clear that Bill is our Mole.
I assume the final two episodes will be on the same day. Last time, they were on back to back days.
Man, that will be some day.
Don’t forget Bill hiding behind his navy background. Always trying to do the right thing- even turning down an exemption from Al. Not even Bribs would go that far…IMHO. He comes off as so paternal and so honorable, he’s just the perfect choice to be mole.
Here’s a screen capture for those who want to see it.
Didn’t the Les Nessman wannabe eagerly grab that telegram and got booted right after (same episode)? That would tell me it’s a red herring. Remember, they have a hidden clue on every episode.
Treading water for 7 minutes can be hard for a lot of people, and Bill is older than the other two treaders. Being a Navy admiral does not mean he is able to tread water longer at his age.
I must admit, the way that Bill fell on the greasy gnome was suspicious. It looked like he tried to push his bike on top of the gnome to ensure breakage. (at least to me) Also, Bill’s pointing out of the odometer numbers seemed suspicious.
However, the fact that he was woken up and groggy meant he had no knowledge of the early morning “bat-the-ball” game.
I think the latest hidden clue is Dorothy’s behavior on the watch tower. She let Heather snag several thumbprints on her watch, until finally Al had enough of it and made them switch.
I’m still going for Heather.
Patrick? Some people think he didn’t figure the telegram out, despite the fact that he spent a lot of time with it. So Bill being the mole is still a possibility. I thought the gnome thing looked a bit suspicious too- he didn’t seem to fall naturally, but slower than normal. As for the early morning game, maybe he fell asleep and lost track of time. It would look better for him to be asleep rather than setting an alarm. I’m still gunning for him. Dorothy is a strong possibility. The only one I’m sure it’s not is Al. If it is Al…then yes, they will have pulled the wool over my eyes because I haven’t seen him do anything vaguely suspicous, other than taking charge a lot.
On some level, I’ll be let down now if the Mole isn’t Bill. Two hidden clues(very similar to the first seasons) that point right to him. If it’s not him, why are there clues like that? Are they leading us astray? They tell us there are hidden clues, so it’d be pointless to have lots of hidden ones for different charachters.
Me, too.
The Controvert said:
Er, that’s not a hidden clue, that’s a behavior. Hidden clues are the ones like other people have discussed – the telegram, the way letters line up onscreen, things like that.
It was hard to say if Dorothy was actually letting Heather grab the items or not. But even if she was, remember that she and Heather had just made a deal to try to throw people off! This is what the two finalists last year did – the pretended to be Mole-like to cast suspicion on themselves.
But Bill is the Mole.
