I’m about 25% likely to attend. On the one hand, I haven’t been to a fest since Gettysdope. On the other hand, I really don’t fancy all that solo driving. However, on the third hand, I have absolutely no clue what I’ll be doing then, so I don’t know what sort of schedule-type stuff needs clearing.
The last weekend in July is the 30th, which is a “I’d rather not” for me, as is the weekend after that.
The two Saturdays currently in play are July 23rd and August 13th. Anyone who has a definite conflict with either of them, state it now, so we can start pinning down a date. (Since those weeks are three weeks apart, Antares, with her every-other-Satuday sked, should be able to make one of them.)
And Misnomer (eek! She is stalking me!) – it was definitely only A Look.
I’m thinking that August is best for us. I’ll be heading home for ~a month as usual, but I’m not exactly sure when.
I don’t know how my work schedule will be, but I’m sure I can clear a day and try to drag PocketGoth with me (hey, she was a Doper for one day last year…)
Hmmm. The local science fiction convention is July 15-17th (Here’s a link. That buddy of mine who’s a writer’s one of the featured speakers.) The Columbus Mensa RG is July 29-31st. I do believe you’ve picked the one weekend I’ve got open! I’m in! Once again, I’ll see if I can bring both gentlemen, including the writer, aka HJay, aka Polycarp’s brother-in-spirit. I’ll also throw in various games including Fluxx and, if I can borrow it from the gentleman, Nuclear War.
August 13th works as well for me, as far as I know.
On the drive back from the last GettysDope, the three of us were talking about making a seperate visit and touring the battlefields properly. Both gentlemen are history buffs, and HJay’s written a few short stories based on the Civil War including a very good one set at Gettysburg (OK, probably more than one, but that’s the one I can attest to from personal experience. It’s in Civil War Fantastic, an anthology editted by Martin H. Greenberg.) Would anyone else be interested in doing some touring, perhaps the day after the Dopefest?

I might be able to swing over that way. Once the date is nailed down, I’ll be able to tell for sure.
I’ll be in Montana the weekends of August 13 and 20, but anytime in July works for me (including July 23), as does the first week of August.
So if the choices are down to July 23 and August 13, I’m rooting for July 23. I keep missing GettysDopes, and would like to attend this one.
HJay is in and would be happy to do a tour of the battlefields on Sunday. He also asked if Polycarp would be willing to join us.

Any chance you can scoot your trip a little on the early side so that you’ll be back by July 23rd? I know schools let out later and later each year but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

July 23rd I can do. August 13th I cannot. So it’s a good thing we’re leaning towards the 23rd! Would hate to miss it. Did I mention I had a marvelous freakin time last year?
’punha - Even assuming the boy and I are still together by then, I don’t know if he could handle this lot. He’s… eh, not quite the type. He might freak and flee. We’ll see.
July 23rd looks OK so far.
I think i might be able to make this get-together. I have a couple of research trips to do this summer, but they should be done by the end of July.
