Been so busy the last couple weeks I don’t know if I’m a comin or a goin’
**
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAA!!!**
ROSIE’S SIG to all!
Well irking isn’t as bad as I thought it would be, hour and a half in and murder hasn’t crossed my mind. We shall see how I feel in three and a half more.
Jim
(pout) I’m feeling really grim about job-hunting. Even fast-food places don’t seem interested in an adult with work history and a clean record, with nearly wide-open availability (sole exception is Sunday afternoons).
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 48 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 68. After today high 70s and 80s comin’ my way. YAY!!!
Nettie you’ll find a job soonest. I just know it!
You happy with the move Pearl? Sorry about the car.
flytrap that was bad! Funny, but bad!
Jim here’s hopin’ you don’t post from the county jail this mornin’.
Feel better mmmmmms!
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence. Gonna attempt to make this an early day. We shall see.
Happy Firday Y’all!
Happy Firday!
It’s 5 degrees above freezing, still dark and it’s wet outside.
Sah-dog woke me at sometime last night, whining piteously to go out.
He barely got his head out the door when he noticed it was raining and changed his mind about going out.
So when I woke up at 6 I handed him off to Sah-kid to put him out and he refused again, so I had to put him out.
Went right out for me.
The dog ain’t right in the head.
He sure looks cute right now, he pulled my dirty clothes out of the laundry basket, piled them up on his blanket and is snuggled right in them.
It’s a soggy Firday here in southern Merrylande. sari, my idiot dog wouldn’t go out either at first, but after she ate, it was out, squat, back, so yay. Then out again a little later, so she’s fulfilled her morning obligation.
The rain should end in an hour or so and getting her out the rest of the day will be easy.
My plans for today include finishing all of my pottery and loading the kiln. I’ll start it with a long, slow warm-up to ensure everything is totally dry, and let it fire overnight. Then on Sunday, I can unload it, add the beads and such to the appropriate pots, and get it ready for delivery to the store. The tough part will be pricing it. I have to guess what it would sell for, because if I used time and materials, no one would ever buy any of it. When you include clay, glaze, and electricity for the kiln, pieces in this batch average $4-5 each. Add my time to throw, trim, decorate, and glaze, to say nothing of prep and cleanup, on a simple piece, I *might *make $3-4 per hour. Good thing I’m not doing this to support us. As far as I’m concerned, if my hobby pays for itself, then it’s a win. Not that it ever will, if you factor in the cost of the wheel, the kiln, the slab roller, and the other equipment in my studio. Knitting is a lot cheaper hobby.
Breakfast has been ingested - PB&J with peach preserves - I’m almost out - peach season better get here soon!!! I won’t be making as much strawberry this year - I’ve still got 4 or 5 jars from last year’s batch. It’s very good, but the peach is better.
Happy Firday!
Morning all,
Rain here too in suthron VA. I passed by a nasty looking accident on the top of the High Rise Bridge (aptly named). I looked like it had just happened. I am never sure if I should stop and help or keep moving out of the way. I think the image of the crashed cars, one right next to the railing, will haunt me for the rest of the day. <shiver>.
Hopefully only a half day at irk today and then SUSHI squee with friends for din-din. Is it 5:00 yet???
I haz a headache and a blurf.
Blurf
Gordie does this. That’s why his nickname is “Princess Pretty Paws”
Would you want to go out in the cold and rain to do your bidness?
One of the good things about when I nannied JoeDawg (may he RIP) was that when it was cold, rainy or otherwise ick out, he would do his bidness on the covered deck which was no biggie cause I could just wash that off with the hose. He would run out the back door onto the porch, head for the screen door from the porch to the deck and turn around and look at me as if to say, “Dang slow poke hurry up! The dawg’s gotta go!” JoeDawg was never known for his patience.
In other news, I do not, I repeat do not, want to be at irk. Tough, I know, but still.
Headed home today woohoo! Then headed to Houston on Monday. I hate this transition part of moving. But it will be over in a couple of weeks.
Still sick. But it is Friday!
I see this rather frequently in my job. Just last week we had a 9 car pile up that had the interstate closed for two and a half hours
it’s better to drive by one than be a part of one
It’s been tough to get started this morning. But I’m finally showered and dressed and ready to head downstairs. The rain has stopped, the sun is shining, the sky is blue, and the temp has leapt to 41 freekin’ degrees!!!
Off to glaze…
Today is beyond blurf. (And try convincing that blurf is so a word!)
Gray, drizzly, icky, and most of the day will be at the infusion center for DH to get more blood. Great people doing wonderful things, but the place itself is blugh.
You can tell they tried, but the mix of dark wood-like formica walls and pale green hospital privacy curtains with abstract flowers and a bejillion recliners that were built with mismatched olive green and teal blue upholstery just says “designed by a committee of straight guys.”
I’m convinced it was BBBobbio, doggio, flytrap, Spidey, lieu and Jim.
Seriously though, hope things go well for DH today.
If you do decide to render aid (which beyond making a phone call to 911 is often about as much as you can do) remember to do the following: upon arriving at the accident scene drive 100’ past the accident then pull over! This allows emergency equipment room to work in and it allows you the ability to* leave easily when you need to*. Park before the accident and you may end up staying there awhile. Lessons learned shooting news.
Boy I am glad it’s Friday. Last week was long but fun. The visit with the kids was good, I even managed an 8 mile bike ride last Saturday at the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Not bad for a guy who hasn’t seriously ridden his bike for decades, and 5 days after a hospital stay. We saw osprey, turtles, geese, great blue herons, ducks, muskrat, bald eagles and a bunch of other critters too numerous to note. It’s actually heartwarming to me to note my children didn’t get too worked up by the sightings (except the muskrat) because they have been on the water with me enough to have seen them all before. Lack of excitement wasn’t due to disinterest, it was prior knowledge. A good feeling. Nice day / week for family.
This week I spent most of it out of my work truck Unit 5. It has been having engine issues - the issue being that it had a brand new GM engine dropped in it late last year and the new engine burns oil at a tremendous rate. It has been in for testing and various attempts at delaying me into submission, but we’re finally getting around to the end game. I got it back yesterday, I have to put 1000 miles on it then it goes back to the dealer for another analysis. After that the likely answer will be another new engine!
GM 7.4 liter V8’s aint cheap. But it’s a warranty job, so it’s not my problem.
You are absolutely correct that your aunt was wrong, but sadly you have to expect ‘loans’ to family and friends are gifts instead. I can only commiserate and say I have dealt with people like that before myself who do not understand the value of a gift and that it actually is valuable to the giver.
It is strange to believe but there are people who don’t give a single thought to the fact that someone may have actually worked hard or made a sacrifice to provide a gift or loan, they are too wrapped up in their own world of self absorption and delusion to consider the giver and the effort they made.
So I am sorry this happened to you, I can only say in this you are not alone.
It’s a weekend with little to do ahead. I have an offer from my boss for a LayZBoy chair, which I may drive up and get this weekend. Good excuse to get out of the house.
Happy Friday all!
(looks around worried that I’m not on this list)
Off to the baby doctor!
