Yes, I would have mentioned him only I was terrified of misspelling his name.
Thanks for replying NoClueBoy. Part of the reason for posting this thread was that I suspected there were fundemental differences between us (and the other ‘part’ being that to my eyes we seemed to have similar posting styles)
So we do have some similarities
I too feel that kinship with you. Life has taught me that friendship is a bond that is much stronger than differences of opinion and philosophy. I hate to sound soppy but I do and have for most of my time here considered you a friend.
P.S. Composing this thread made me think of other close friends I’ve had. And I remembered at University I had only one close friend. And in hindsight he was probably a christian conservative. (me being a leftist atheist) But we were good friends.
Here’s to friendship with people you’ve never met.
Politically, I think I’m pretty close to Lib and Diogenes, though I haven’t really gotten into any hardcore debates here yet. That I haven’t done so is quite odd, now that I think about it, but I guess it’s because I only tend to argue the purely ideological issues, which don’t get bandied about so much lately.
Religiously, I don’t think I’ve found my counterpart here yet – not that I’ve been looking terribly hard. I’ll outline my beliefs here, and if they appear to jive with anyone else posting, feel free to speak up. Under the labelling system most here seem to accept, I’d call myself a soft agnostic. I can accept Deism and spirituality-based belief of any religion, but I have definite issues with dogmatic assumptions of any kind. I don’t care who you are or what you believe; you don’t know anything for sure, and I will not be convinced by repeated insistance that you do. Personally, I haven’t yet had any experiences that affirmed or bolstered any latent spirituality I might possess, so I remain uncertain and unconvinced while retaining an open mind. The only thing I know for sure is that if my beliefs are going to change, it won’t be as a result of anyone’s actions, including mine. It’ll have to be the cumulative result of a series of experiences and subconscious thought processes, and will most likely manifest (if in fact it ever does) as an epiphany of sorts. If this sounds like you or anyone you know, please, do tell.
As far as posting style goes, I don’t know if I’ve been around long enough to have established one…but if there’s anyone else here with a tendency to cram a near-ludicrous amount of semi-related self-analytical rambling into each of their posts, that’d be a pretty good starting place
Oh, and one thing I meant to add: Lobsang, you seem to be almost as introspective as I am, and we seem to think about the same topics, if not always along the same lines.
I’d like to think I share some similarities with Giraffe, Cervaise, and SolGrundy. And I flattered to be compared to CandidGamera and FilmGeek.
And Bosda, as far as piercing pain in my eyes and genitals go, all the nerve endings in both areas were burned out about a year ago when I first saw this picture..
Well, we do have similar opinions on both politics and IKEA. What more is there?
You’re right about pissing people off in the Pit, though. I really need to work on that.
Man, I’m like an individualist! Almost 40 posts and no one is like me!
Well, based on likes and dislikes, I’m probably closest to Fenris, Angua, and Ponder Stibbons.

It’s a start.
Right back atcha, babe.
Hijack.
No offense, Flamingbananas…or can I call you Ms. Bananas? Or just Flaming?
But *every stinking time * I see you user name I swear the image I that goes through my head is very phallic and related to a ghastly STD.
So, maybe that is why no one is like you and your festering boiled covered yogurt slinging trouser snake.
Sorry for the hijack.
I don’t think there IS anyone here like me, though I wish there was! (yes, I mean that in a good way)
Psst Shirley if my memory is working right: flamingbananas is a 14 yr old girl child.
I should also mention Sunspace we both love architecture and we are both the type to be walking along and see a reflection or a shadow and be transfixed forEVER!
WHY??? For the love of Og, man, have you no conscience?!
Oh…goody.
Hi, Krisfer!
Light, colours and architecture… And Krisfer has the grace of mind to live in a desert with its amazing skies and light!
There is plenty for me to learn on the boards from many assorted posters. I am finding it difficult to name anyone.
And besides, no-one else here seems to share my obsession for DVD-authoring, menu design, and DVD virtual-machine programming.
Not at all. strangely, yours was one of the first names that I thought of, even though it looks like a mismatch on the surface. maybe it’s because we both have a propensity for passionate hyperbole that gets us both flamed a lot.
Seriously, I recognize a kindred spirit when I see one. I always sort of “get” where you’re coming from even when I think you’re completely wrong. I think our personalities are probably similar even even we reach different conclusions on some things.
Marley, Apos and tomndebb are some others that I generally tend to agree with.
It changes…but lately it seems to be trublmakr.
Imagine my embarrassment.
14 year old girls should not be thinking about such things as I typed.
Hell, Flaming, you write better at 14 than I do now.
Either your education is superb or I am a dimwit. The latter.
My most profuse apologies to you Flaming. Now go back and do what all 14 year old girls do…read pron and think of ways to get into Maxim.
HERE’s his sister.
For my part, I feel kinship with all the comic-book Dopers out there, and the roleplayers, and especially the double-threats. I’d list lots of names, but I’m sure I’d leave someone out.
The best counterpart has to be Draelin, though, who seems to not only meet the first two criteria, but she’s also seemingly got exactly the same taste in movies as I do.
