Holy cow! I can’t believe I get to start the thread on the first official look at the new Doctor Who in costume! Here he is in full kit along with new companion Amy Pond. Here’s the announcement from the BBC.
I’m very impressed with the costume! They even made Matt Smith look handsome, which is quite a surprise based on his earlier pics, where he was wearing a dark t-shirt and dark suit jacket and looked quite outre. Here his quirky facial features blend nicely with an old-fashioned button-down look (and quite a snazy shirt, when you look closely). I think we can gauge quite a bit about Eleven’s character from the costume, but I’ll let others elaborate on that. All I’ll say now is that I’m extremely excited. I can’t wait to see what Smith and Moffat do with Doctor Who.
Writing in all caps has been unofficially banned for quite a while now. Some sort of filter keeps it from working. But there are lots of workarounds.
As for the Doctor, I think he looks great. I would like to see some of that speculation about his character, though. Spoiler it if you think it’ll bug people.
Heh! I think you’ve ruined the new Doctor for me. I just keep imagining his companion saying, “Gee, this is the 12th straight time we’ve tried to disrupt the life of this Barack dude. Is he going to be some evil world conqueror someday?”
Yep…click on the ‘costumes’ link at the bottom of the announcement, and it shows all the Doctors in costume (3 of Ten, and 1-3 all together). Seven’s watch isn’t terribly clear, but it is visible. (He’s picture 6.)
