The new girl in the office

It’s always weird when a girl bases a career on hotness. What do they do when they end up on the wrong end of 30 and their value declines rapidly? I don’t know what they do in Japan, but in Vegas this happens a lot with the cocktail waitresses. Once they’ve outlived their usefulness they’re taken out back and shot like horses with a broken leg.

I think the typical plan is to be married and camped on the couch watching daytime TV by that age.

I was a contract worker in Japan for a few years, so I worked at about 6 different offices. I never saw it.

Or at least I don’t think so. The last place I worked employed this one lady who was the Japanese equivalent of Adriana from the Sopranos. Big hair, long glue-on nails, tons of makeup, and always in a miniskirt. But so far as I could tell she was just a regular employee; no doubt chosen for the sake of eye candy, but not as anything more than that.

I taught her how to browse through Windows Explorer.

Well the boss seems to have found her a position on his staff for one reason or another.

We occasionally went to Harajuku on Fridays, but we were mostly (much to Sublight’s chagrin, I’m sure) in Azabu-Juban before moving to my friend’s club in Hiro-o.

But at least you wouldn’t have had to buy drinks!

Especially if you were wearing hot pants. [/back to the OP]

I knew a gal like this who was one of our Friends in Accounting. I remember when she began to approach 40 - she began to really obsess over each little wrinkle, etc. as they appeared. The bosses used to take her with them when they took clients to lunch, for no other reason than the eye candy. She certainly wasn’t very good with numbers.

I don’t know what ever happened to her (I left there in 1998).

So business casual then.

:smack: Valgard beat me to it.

You know I think you’re looking at this camera problem all wrong. You don’t need stealth. You need social engineering. Is there any reason you could think of to ask her to take her picture? You could do all the office staff, or like a group photo or something. That wouldn’t look creepy. Then you could circle her i the pic for us.

Why not use a regular camera instead of a cell phone camera? There are ways to be discreet about it.

Agreed. If you don’t think you could pull off either of those, say to her “Look, can you do me a big favor? I told my Grandma I was dating a girl and I would send her a picture in the Christmas card. Do you mind taking a picture with me?”

This has the following benefits:

  1. You get a picture for us.
  2. It will most likely result in a very awkward situation, causing her to avoid you in the future. Now you don’t have to worry about what she does.

The drawbacks would be:

  1. If you have a current SO, they find out you are taking pictures of a woman at the office and pretending she is your SO.
  2. Boss thinks you are moving in, and you get fired.
  3. I can’t think of anything else that could go wrong, but I am sure there are plenty of things.

Take one for the team. Show us the picture!

Or just snap a picture of her ass out in the open and if anyone says anything about it reply, “Well…isn’t that what she’s there for?”

Are some of you really that hard up for a picture of a girl?

But … I mean … read the OP - it’s not just any girl. We’re talkin’ hot pants and smokin’ hot here.

Oh come on! Everyone likes a few pictures with their stories. I think a picture of the boss would be interesting too.

Sorry for being a killjoy, but I think taking shots of my boss and/or his girl friday, and posting them on the net, falls into the VERY BAD IDEA category. You’ll just have to use your imaginations. :stuck_out_tongue:

Older model cell phones that came with a camera, had the option of turning off sound for the shutter. Newer model phones are mandated by law to have an audible sound.

By the way , I did just check my older iPhone 3g and to my surprise it does have an audible sound , when the sound is turned on. Totally silent when it comes to being set on vibrate.

On the other hand , my razr has an audible shutter sound , no matter if the phone is on vibrate, silent or loud.

Declan

The camera click sound doesn’t seem to make much sense when the video record feature on phones is completely silent…

False. I have a brand new phone that takes silent pictures when set to vibrate.

The bill you are referring to, HR 414, has not been passed.
