MNM can never work again and it will be too soon for me. I’ve seen this act before. A few times. And it’s old. Very old. MNM, the American Males are contacting you. Via counsel. They want royalties. Hell, they’re not even unique RIGHT NOW with the freaking Heartthrobs running around.
HSHP, recycling and outright stealing storylines and character ideas is what professional wrestling is all about!
And the roster cuts just keep on coming:
Dammit! Scooped again!
Newlyweds Haas and Gayda - gone (yet they can have a Diva Search).
Pregnant Dawn Marie - gone.
The f’n DUDLEYS - gone.
Is creative so inept that they can’t come up with a storyline for one of the most popular tag teams out there? The WWE should just throw the tag belts away. They routinely let one man beat the tag team champs. They don’t promote the title as if it means anything. Vince and company are screwing the pooch. Someone needs to wrest control from him, and he set up his “public” company in such a way that it will never happen. The man took wrestling as far as he could, but now he’s just grinding it back down.
Bah, time to watch some old ECW with some tie-dyed Dudleys taking on the Eliminators.
Are all the Tough Enough people gone now except for Johnny Nitro? I’m not sure if Chris Nowinski was let go previously, or is just on the injured roster.
On another note, to make up for the bloodletting, the WWE has hired Big Vito. Nothing against Vito, but there’s 10-12 people on the unemployment line I would have preferred the WWE keep.
They’re bringing Brock Lesnar back too. I guess they won’t have to worry about Matt Morgan relinquishing his finishing move back to Brock now.
How in the blue hell do you let Buh Buh Ray and D-Von go?
The only thing I can figure is that this means the tag belts are going to disappear. That’s the only justification I can find for releasing quite possibly the greatest tag team ever (and I’m serious in saying that.)
I wonder what’s going on over in TNA’s offices right now. Probably the sound of the Jarretts desperately searching for change in the couch cushions to sign the Dudleys. All three of them.
Big Vito?
Tell me I’m beeing whooshed.
His NAME is his freaking GIMMICK, fercryin’outloud.
Haven’t they already fired him once anyway, when they let most of the WCW roster go?
The sad part, brianjedi, is that in wrestling, if you are not working for the WWE, spare change is all you are going to get. I have rarely watched TNA, but I can see giving them my money if the Dudleys will join AJ Styles, Raven, Shane Douglas, Chris Daniels and others. (Plus, didn’t they just get rid of Nash and Page? All the better!) Dixie Carter should be writing checks as I type this. That’s a lot of talent being made available (although WWE generally has a 90-day no compete - they pay the wrestler for 3 months after release to keep them off the air (see Matt Hardy))
To be technical, the Dudleys were not released. It means that they are right now collecting their downside guarantees and hopefully healing and exercising. It also means that they’ll be away from TNA until their contracts expire. One of the reasons for their downtime was Bubba Ray’s back, so hopefully he’ll be healthy for their comeback. And did you see D-Von’s arms at the PPV? The man has been doing some significant lifting - not that he ever had small arms to begin with.
Hopefully Lesnar has matured. He’s got potential - he’s an extremely athletic big guy. Only time will tell.
Kenzo Suzuki has been cut.
God, these roster cuts are depressing. I think perhaps it’s time I learn more about TNA. What does everyone think? Should I buy every pay per view, or do they have a TV show somewhere to catch you up on the action? Oh, and does WWE still do Tough Enough? It seems like it would just be a waste of time. None of the kids that win actually get a decent gimmick.
They’re bringing back Lesnar?
What an ass that kid is. His comments upon leaving the business and taking up football were some of the most egotistical I’ve ever heard.
Guess it’s not all about spending time with your daughter when the fact that you suck at your new profession prevents you from being a conceited ass, huh, Brock?
By the way, does anyone know what the legal troubles that helped speed the decision to release Jannetty were, exactly?
Who? Kenzo is not a loss, talent-wise. 16 cut so far, one pick-up and Brock in negotiations. WWE will lose about $10,000,000 in ad revenue on their new TV deal. That’s what many are speculating is the reason for the deep cuts.
Yet Snitsky and Masters still have jobs.
And the stripper of the month will get a quarter-million dollars, plus they’ll probably keep some of the other strippers around too.
Brock Lesnar: Wrestling is in my blood.
Gee, that 10-year non-compete is really getting to you, isn’t it? Not much big money call for college wrestlers. The NFL isn’t as easy to break into as you thought, is it? Perhaps you should have looked at Arena Football, but that’s hardly the same money you would have been earning in WWE.
You owe Randy Orton, and a few others, a “job”. Don’t let your head get too big on your return and do your “jobs” and take it like a man.
Diva Joy Giovanni makes it 17. How many more before it’s over?
The board ate one of my replies to this thread.
I think we’re gonna see at least two more cuts, maybe 3. If The Hurricane and Rosey weren’t the tag champs, I’d have put my money on them.
Something odd I just noticed: all the WCW belts are on Smackdown now. The big belt, the U.S. title, the cruiserweight strap, and the replacement tag belts (since the originals were either unified with the WWE straps or just disappeared.)
Regarding Marty Jannety, he had some domestic dispute problems in Florida, was incarcerated, and had outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Easy target when the axe started swinging.
#18: Hiroko (Kenzo Suzuki’s wife)
