I know that this whole idea (long form journalism; in today’s world 700 words is TLDR as well as the whole message board concept) is as dead as disco; there’s no doubt an entire generation of people who have no clue of this place. And no interest. And that’s a shame; even though it’s not the latest flashy thing I believe there’s meaning here. Getting people – especially younger people – to view it … obviously we’re not getting the message across.
Reaching out to all our old friends and asking you to join in our reindeer games – and bring YOUR friends. I love seeing all these familiar names and our stalwart Dopers who have hung in through everything.
I can be a good audience member. I’ll clap and stomp my feet, and giggle when you blow a wrong note.
My writing? Eh, tries to think of short and pithy normal person answer - draws blank.
That’s a very complicated question. I have published around 25 short books on amazon.
Most are Femdom smutty shorts. I have a couple nonfiction books under my legal name, a children’s picture book, a couple of sci-fi shorts that are now unpublished, a couple short story Christian romances, and that’s about it, so far.
I have great ambitions, but I’ve got this problem with my brain that makes it a challenge to actually do the stuff I want. But I insist on trying anyway. Mysteries are one of the things I’d like to write and publish, or maybe true crime stuff. But I haven’t yet. Maybe one day.
I’m sort of interested in everything. If you wanted to be nice you could say I’m eclectic.
I’ve also tried the freelance writing thing, but I prefer writing for myself.
When I actually do write, which isn’t often. Coz lazy and confused and monkeys.
Well, I was wondering – fearing, really – where they could possibly dig up someone who had anything like the history and understanding of Board culture as dear old Ed. And whadda ya know, they did!

I felt visible relief when I read this. I’m very glad you were willing to step up. We need someone who knows this place and understands us. I was honestly just expecting not to have anyone who did anything but fix potential tech problems.
I’m also relieved to know the Straight Dope page will be maitained. I was worried it was just going to be left to rot over time.
And, well, I very much enjoyed listening to that Tuba ensemble again. I would love it if we had a thread of that sort of thing. I’m sure you have a lot of Tuba stuff to listen to–Hint, hint.
Just a question: how did you receive the appointment/elevation? Did a dove come down and whisper in your ear? (Or is that only if the new Administrator is a virgin?) Or a blood-on-thumb from Zotti to you?
