Neither is anyone else at present, according to Hugh Laurie:
Last show I remember Fox giving such a huge push was New Amsterdam, which wound up getting a last minute shove into mid-season and instant cancellation. Hopefully this one will fare better.
IIRC yes and next summer
No one is looking forward to Alcatraz?
I know it comes on in 2012, but I’m looking forward to it for sure.
I heard they’re planning to cut way down on the “theme” episodes – which were the weak ones S2. I hope this is an actual plan and not a wishful rumor.
American Horror Story looks mildly interesting, though just from the commercials I really can’t tell why.
Ooof. Alright then, why not just admit you don’t like television, rather than just dissing the good stuff based on watching trailers?
I am so out of touch it is not funny. The only thing I make a point of watching is Breaking Bad.
I used to be a TV junkie a few years ago. Now? meh.
This will be my weekly schedule, until I see some of the newer shows and decide to drop or keep them, and until the networks start shuffling things around to accommodate:
Monday:
Terra Nova
2 Broke Girls
Gossip Girl - I’m a big Gossip Girl fan, I just can’t help it.
House - I still love this show.
Hart of Dixie - A new Josh Schwartz show with Rachel Bilson? Yes, please.
Alcatraz (midseason) - Time travel and Alcatraz are two of my favourite things, and JJ Abrams can sometimes make a good show.
Tuesday:
Glee - This comes close to my favourite show right now, and some of the new cast additions have really sparked my interest.
New Girl
Ringer - SMG!!!
Apt 23 (midseason)
Wednesday:
Happy Endings
Revenge
American Horror Story - Another Ryan Murphy FX show, I’ll give it a shot.
Thursday:
The Big Bang Theory
Community
Person of Interest
Bones - I totally lost interest last season, but I’ll give it another shot.
The Mentalist
The Secret Circle - Intriguing cast, the CW is really looking my network of choice this season.
The Finder (midseason)
Friday:
A Gifted Man
Nikita - The other contender for my favourite show currently. I can’t believe how good this show is, unfortunately I fear its move to Friday will kill it this season. Oh well.
Grimm
Saturday:
NOTHING!
Sunday:
Once Upon a Time
Pan Am
The one with Donny Jones (Silas Weir Mitchell)? I’m all over that one! Love that guy. He can take it to the edge and hold it or push it over, as is needed.
(looking down my shirt and mouthing, “What would you do?”)
Uh, I don’t watch either of those shows, but you can’t just watch best of trailers to judge a show. Things out of context often seem stilted and so forth.
+1 billion
ETA: I’ve been watching all kinds of TV for almost 40 years now, I’d argue that prime-time television is better now than it’s ever been. Of course, 90% of television is crap, but that’s always been the case, even though we have more quantity now.
Oh, dear, I was afraid when I saw the title that this was the case. From the trailers, it looks very much as if they took the title, filed off the serial numbers, and attached a show that has a completely different concept to it.
No. Mad Men’s dialog is just plain stilted. In four minutes of their “best” clips, they couldn’t show a single believeable line? Sorry, I grew up on shows like All in the Family, Gunsmoke, Barney Miller and others. Now, those had writers who could do convincing dialog. If you had never seen any of those programs, and watched best of clips from those shows, you can bet you would at least be able to sit though four minutes without cringing in derision.
Maybe I should watch a newer show end to end. But they’re all like soap operas now. You have to watch a whole damn season for anything to happen. Maybe the old programs deserved criticism for neatly solving problems in an hour or less. But there’s something to be said for a succinct storyline.
Seriously? You’re judging a show based on a four-minute clip of it? And not just any show, but one of the most critically acclaimed shows of recent years.
Is this sort of like one of those “The only good music, was [whatever music you listened to when you were growing up], because the stuff now, is just noise and crap. Crappy noise.” things?
Not just a four-minute clip. A best of clip, specially chosen to draw in viewers. And if that’s the most critically acclaimed show of recent years, then recent years have sucked worse than I thought.
So you haven’t watched TV in years. Any prime-time show?
There’s something of that, true. But really, I’m just sick of wanting to vomit whenever I watch TV that’s not a documentary or a thirty year old rerun.
This? Yer link got hashed.
