The next MMP

I’ll drink something for ya, rigs. I’m off for a drink with some friends in a bit. If I can get off my lazy ass, that is.

I am up to page 7 but y’all are killing me at page 9 already!

Took some engineers out today and ate at Red Robin - first time for me and I am STUFFED!

As promised Linky to house pictures

I also want a kitty but not sure that I am up to the responsibility

ems, beautiful house. . . congratulations!

Is it bad of me to automatically reject someone who spells “roll” when he means “role”? :dubious:

Reminds me of a stalker I had once. He spelled it “stocker.” I wept.

Don’t take it out on the stocker. That’s just how he roled.

D&R

No. It could be a typo, but do you really want to take chances with things like that? LOUNE, you are an evil, evil person. If you start writing “u” instead of “you,” I’ll pretend I don’t know you.

I just finished it…wow! Great book. I’ve already read Anansi Boys–I didn’t know it was supposed to be a sequel, so I’m all out of order. I don’t re-read books very often, but I really need to read American Gods again, and then I need to re-read Neverwhere. And then I have a couple of Christopher Moore books to read. That should keep me out of trouble for a while.

I like cottage cheese with tomatoes and nuts. Little sweet grape tomatoes and pecans–cottage cheese doesn’t get any better than that! When I was a kid, I used to eat them with fried potatoes and chopped green onions, and my granddad used to eat cottage cheese with coleslaw or salad mixed in. It runs in the family.

swampbeer, keep your butt pointed away from me, okay? I don’t need to get burned to a crisp just because you have gas. Thanks!

SCL, I think you should paint it black. That’s what the song says, anyway.

rigs, I think you need a nice, long break.

You sure he wasn’t into day trading or something?

I think it’s hard when you’re a natural good speller to get past the part where not everyone is like that. (It took me a LONG time.) You really have to focus on the fact that English is a horrible language with really inconsistent rules. Some people just can’t figure it out. I know a lot of perfectly fine and intelligent people who can’t spell worth beans. One of my closest friends in college couldn’t differentiate between anonymous and unanimous. He’s a very bright and funny engineer, but his language skills are sometimes…appalling.

I don’t think it’s bad of you, but this impulse might be one you want to think about a bit more…

I’ve always liked cottage cheese, but it has to be small curd and only certain brands. I frequently buy the 2% Breakstone’s 4-packs. Buying a whole tub would guarantee that some of it would go unused.

I think I have a bit of the Sick. My tummy was a bit upset when I went to bed last night and I woke up with a little bit of an unhappy tummy still (just kinda rumbly and ick; not really nausea). Had to go in for a meeting - otherwise I might have stayed home. Tummy still isn’t 100% and I’m not really hungry. Other clues include the part where I’m running a low-grade fever and had that uncontrollable urge for a nap earlier. So I guess I’ll go to bed early and only go in to work for the absolute necessities tomorrow (I have 3 things I have to do).

Gotta go pull clothes out of the dryer first though…

GT

gt, I hope you feel better. I’m all out of ginger ale, or I’d shove some through the CD slot for you. I love ginger ale when my tummy’s rumbly. It sounds like a good reason to have lots of naps tomorrow. Naps are nice.

what’s with all the fish?

BBBob - thanks - I’ll check it out later or tomorrow - Right now I’m trying to keep from melting in this sauna in which I live. bleh. Have I mentioned lately how much I f#%$king hate humidity?

Anyway - $500++ later, the car is all better. A leaky streeing fluid pump/hose was the cause of all the problems - also some belts were worn and a few wires frizzed. Also had a full tune up and oil change and new wiper blades to boot.

Off to try to cool off in the cross breeze created by my whole house fan.

um okay
was that for real?

Am I too late for the cottage cheese discussion? I’ve always loved it - I can eat a whole 16 oz. container by itself, in fact. My favorite fruit with cottage cheese is pears, and years ago, my Mom shared with me that cottage cheese and pears was a frequent lunch she’d give me as a toddler–inexpensive for their tight food budget and apparently I really liked it.

GT, hope your tummy is feeling better. I felt much better today and went back in to work. Guess it must have been that food I ate after fasting for the blood work. All I had yesterday after getting sick, btw, was some Safeway brand ginger ale (normally I would have Canada Dry, but all I had was the Safeway kind!).

My endocrinologist called me first thing this morning - the blood work showed that the thyroid med still wasn’t enough, so he’s upping me to 175 mcg/day (from 150). The needle biopsy is schedule for August 10th (two weeks from tomorrow).

Thank God it’s almost Friday!!

I’ve got ginger ale. :shoves some through cd drive for gt:
Back from work. Work was very, very loud. Tomorrow I should take pictures so y’all will kow I’m not exaggerating. There were close to a hundred thousand people on my street this evening. Grr.

Going to Dope for a bit, and then bed. Thank goodness.

Oh my goodness! I finally got caught up with you guys! Chatty, chatty bunch, aren’t you?

Firstly:

[CONGRATS BOBBIO, THE VUNDER EMT!

I know I’m late, but I wanted to wish you well. Additionally, good luck with the air bag situation.

Welby, those are very beautiful pictures. Where were those pictures taken? The water shots look so serene. Nice halibut too!

ems, very nice! The house looks ever so much better with your stuff in it!

Rosie, I love red. You all look stunning.

I like cottage cheese with some sliced peaches.

Hee hee! Sounds like Swampy’s butt in gonna be on “fahr” in a bit. Kindly face the other way, m’kay? I don’t want to get burned.

I know I’m waaaay late for this part of the conversation, but I read quickly too. If it’s a book that I find extremely good I can read 100 to 150 pages in an hour. I also re-read books so I can pick up details I may have missed the first time. Additionally, if it’s been a long while since I’ve read a particular book, I find I interpret things a little differently, or, perhaps look at it with a different viewpoint.

Alas, I’m out of books again. I’m not a HP fan, so I think I’ll have to re-read something again.

Next week, I work four days, then I’m on vaction for TWO WEEKS! WOOO AND HOOO! I’m so looking forward to it.

I remember drinking Shasta soda as a kid. I liked the Strawberry Shasta. I have to say, I don’t really like any of it now.

If I drink soda, it’s generally Diet Coke. I’ll drink Sprite or Seven-Up if I have an upset tummy. Occasionally, I’ll get a yen for some cream soda or good root beer. I do not, however, put any down my pants. That’s just weird.

kai, I’m keeping you and the daughter and baby in my thoughts.

I can’t remember who upthread was going to try and guess my TMI problem. Let’s just say they were “woman” problems.

I should start a load of jeans. Tomorrow is Friday, and I don’t have any meetings, so I can wear a pair of jeans to work.

Thanks for the cottage cheese suggestions, everyone. I think I’ll try some tomorrow. I just need to decide what to try with it.

rosie - The story about the fire at the marijuana grow op is real. The stoned fireman is a Jimmy Kimmel tie-in skit though.

Right. Off to bed with me. Friday is upon us!

I luuuuuuurve spicy food! Swampy and I can probably take the world together – I’ll burn the Old World, he’ll burn the New

But I hate Cottage Cheese :frowning:

**Taters **-- congrats on your vacation! I’m going on vacation starting Aug. 1 as well (which means y’all with be rid of me for the better part of two weeks! :p)

Rosie – boo! on the car thing :frowning:

**Roo **-- you aren’t coming out to play this morning/night? I feel so lonely without you…

Good Morning all!! (Rise and Shine!!) and enjoy your weekend!
(Roo – Good Night to you, if you show up in the next hour or so :))

Yay! It’s the weekend!!! Oh wait, I don’t work! I still have to wake up at 6am and feed the baby and entertain her and change her steenkin’ nappies! Well, 6am is still better than the 5:15am wake-up call I had yesterday!

Morning/Evening/Afternoon/Night all!!!

Little to report this morning, and now somebody is decidedly unhappy about her positioning on the play-mat, so more later …

I have friends who are wonderful and intelligent people, but who couldn’t spell to save their lives. Or send me emails that ignore all rules of capitalization and punctuation utterly. Or use things like “u” and “2day” when I chat with them. But I know them personally, so even though it makes me cringe, it’s not that big a deal. I feel like it’s a bit different online, because you don’t know much about the other person - so naturally I tend to be more judgemental about these things. It’s not entirely fair of me - but on the other hand I stated quite clearly on my profile that I’m picky about these things, so when people send me stuff that makes me reach for a red pen I automatically assume that they didn’t really bother to read my profile and only noticed that I’m an Asian girl.

Hope your tummy feels better. I could rub it for you, if you like.

I think I’m developing a sudden stomach ache…

why am I awake?
If I go back to bed now, I can get another 2 and a half hours sleep - and still feel like crap all day . . . .

I think it’s time to invite the luminescent green butterfly over for a week

Rosie, any sounds of gusty wind above your head? :dubious:

In the corner, you see a Jimmy Kimmell bug. His style is to take a legit news item, and add some embellishment.
