The next MMP

I ahve nothing in the bottom left corner. There are buttons for notebook, outline and similar there.

Under the File menu in my Word, I have an option for an RTF file, as well as text only and other foreign terms. I’ve tried Save As, Save, Options,–nada. It’s me, I’m sure it is. :frowning:

Hey…it’s ems! How’s it going? Don’t ever worry about reading the whole MMP. Some people just can’t. How’s the spiffy new house working out?

Work was long and annoying. Although I was offered a way to get a bunch of activity out of my department so we can do our actual jobs. Yay!

Still getting over staying up too late with HP7.

I’m hungry and all everyone has mentioned is food, it seems. So I’d better go find something more to eat before writing anything else.

Back after a bit.

In Word, click on File, Print and then there’ll be a PDF button (lower left-hand corner) with more options. I had no idea it was there (I don’t have Word, but it’s right there in my NeoOfficeJ - yay!). And, yes, Print isn’t the most obvious place for that… Thanks for the tip, Puggy!

I can relate - changing schedule is really really hard. My “natural” sleep schedule is 4am-noon, but the rest of the world doesn’t function on that - I have to get mostly diurnal before I go visit Cheez_Whia, and stay that way the rest of the summer. Blargh.

Hang in there though, it won’t be so bad when you get used to it.
Man I’m hungry. Isn’t it dinner time yet? pouts Why does everyone else have to get home at 7? runs off to forage

Y’all have slowed down! I get to work this monring to find we’re already on page 2, and eight hours later, we’re still on page 2.

Guess everyone’s off reading that book. Eh, not me. I can watch and enjoy the movies, but I’ve not developed the interest to read the books. Looks like I was wrong about UPS last Friday. Weird scheme they used - apparently, Amazon drop-ships books in bulk to local post offices by UPS, and the mailman brings it on the regular delivery schedule. To move that many little boxes, it’s probably far more efficient and far easier to keep track of things that way.

My current aggravating home improvement project is putting tint film on the living room windows so we’re not in so much of a greenhouse. Step One was to remove the previous owner’s attempt, which was done with purple stuff, and only on the upper clerestory windows. Ick. Just ick.

For anyone who’s not done window tint, it’s simple enough, but a royal pain in the tuchus! It’d be no problem for an octopus or two, but the ballet of spraying the stuff, peeling the protective plastic off, spraying the glass, spraying the film some more, not letting the film curl and touch itself before getting it onto the glass, centering it on the glass, squeegeeing the bubbles out, trimming the edges and cussing at the speck of airborne dog fur that got in the middle of the window… It’s impossible for one person, and not at all simple for two.

Not at all squee-worthy! Just squee-gee, over an over, chasing bubbles. But, once it’s up, there’s a noticeable difference in heat coming in, so we’ll save buckets of $$ on air conditioning. The stuff claims to keep out 99% of UV, so that should help prolong the life of the drapes - they shouldn’t fade much now. Our kitchen curtains went from moss green to pale lemon yellow in less than a year from the sun.

Only half a day back at work after over a week and I already took in a new kitten project. An adorable kitten came in with a really bad bilateral eye infection. He had been rubbing them so bad they were bloody. Unfortunately if he went to the shelter he would be euthanized because of the care involved in treating him and not knowing if his eyes will both recover. He acted like he could follow movement so I think at least one eye is still good under all that swelling and inflammation.

So I decided to keep him in the clinic for a while and treat him and see how he does. It didn’t hurt that he was extremely sweet and reminded me of two of my kitties. I didn’t get a pic today but I’ll try and get one tomorrow. If things work out I may have to start a thread to see if I can get a local doper interested in him.

He looks like my Luna, but reminded me more of my Popeye because of the eye problems, so I called him Popeye Junior.

Wile E, I forgot to tell you; you have a lilac point Ragdoll kitten named after you. He is so adorable I wanted to steal him, but since he belongs to my best friend’s daughter I decided that probably wasn’t a good idea.

Good luck with Popeye, jr - I hope at least one eye heals, preferably both. If so, I wonder if we could get him up here? What part of Florida are you in?

Nor I. Honestly, I’m just not interested.

Happy Monday, all!! Going back to work after vacation really sucks. Plus I had 3 meetings today. UGH! The day started great, too - I woke up 10 minutes after the alarm was supposed to go off - we had that AM/PM thing mixed up.

I did a little clay play this afternoon. I made a body for a cat head that was bodyless, and I made the first monster set. I also rolled out the slabs that’ll become a replacement doggie dish for Isaac. And I think I can save the dish I made for Rusty - I should be able to remove all the shards that got stuck in the glaze. Here’s hoping…

One more day with my baby. Then she has to go back to FL. <sniff sniff sigh> Till May…

RooPoo, you worry too much. Leave the banana-inserting to the professionals.
Time to food something. Might come back after fooding.

The carpet is vacuumed and steamed, dinner has been eaten(jambalaya), and I’m having a beerverage or three.

Wille E., hope you get over the GI thing. Done it once or twice. I hope kitty project #3 makes it.

gotti, Moooommmm’s back in town, so everybody’s quiet and on their best behavior.

MMMMMMMM! How’s the house?

Roo, it could be worse. One summer my patio became the secret rat burial ground.

Ooh, I’ve become quite partial to the color-points lately so I’m happy to have one named after me.

I’m in the Tampa Bay Area and we have lots of Dopers around here but even if I can’t pawn him off on a Doper I should be able to find him a home. My last kitten rescue got adopted by a co-worker. The hardest part is resisting the urge to keep them for myself.

Squee! kitties! Can’t wait til I can get a kitty for my very very own.

Ack, so much money spending this month. Deposit for new place and airfare to Toronto. I’m bleeding money here!

Rigs, I made the brownies without peanuts, and they’re just fine. Very chewy and peanut-butter-y and chocolate-y. Scroll up a little for taxi’s notes–they might be fine with less chocolate. Let us know if you try them that way, and if it fixes the crumbly problem.

Wile E I hope the kitty does okay! Are you sure he’s not going to end up moving in with you? One little kitty doesn’t take up that much room!

I just got back from ice cream. The weather’s beautiful, and it was the perfect evening to sit outside in the country with a big cone of double chocolate and cherry vanilla. Yum, yum! The only problem is, I want to do yoga, and it’s not good to do yoga with a full tummy. Sunny days, yoga and ice cream…life is good!

Mama Tigs, sometimes sewing machines are possessed with spiteful demons who pull on the fabric and knot the stitches. At least yours works–mine’s completely broken. :frowning: I guess all of my sewing projects will have to wait a little while. And I have a really cute skirt I need to finish so I can wear it while the weather is still warm. And the coat I’ve been working on for–I don’t even want to say how many years, that still isn’t finished. But there are things about it I’m not completely happy with, so it’s better to take my time and make sure it comes out right than rush it and end up with something I don’t like.

Hello all! Great OP, Sean! I’m sorry for your fiance’s father.

Wile E, hope you are feeling better soon, and Dotty, so glad your little one is doing better!

All the food mentioned in this thread sounds wonderful! Especially jambalaya, I had some amazing jambalaya a couple of weeks ago at the Cheesecake Factory. Mmmm…dinner at the Fearless household tonight was just spaghetti and meatballs with cheesy garlic bread, simple but yummy. (Oh, and Dairy Queen for dessert :). )

My weekend was pretty uneventful, did go to Dave and Buster’s Saturday night for dinner then back home for a whole lotta movie watching. Today - went for a run, did some laundry, shopping, reading, basic puttering around. Count me in as a non-sleeper last night, but I didn’t work today so I can’t even blame it on Sunday night blues! Very odd.

I also have not been reading Harry Potter (haven’t read any of them), but I did start The Hours by Michael Cunningham last night, only made it through the prologue and first chapter but it looks very interesting.

Brownies VERY crumbly and with an odd texture. I added a wee bit of vanilla to them, and didn’t do the whole double boiler thing–I melt my choc in the microwave.

Tupug and gt–I went into Print and sure enough–there it is! Why did tech support NOT share this with me (the uni’s tech support) when I called? They had me download this free program (open access) and that didn’t work etc.

I now know for next time (although, truth to tell, I’ll probably forget–puters are not liking riding a bike for me).

Off to work on project. Instructor bored me silly with lecture about western genre books. I don’t like them and they don’t interest me. But I spent the time “whispering” (think IM’ing) my friends in class. Yes, we are all 14.

Still working my way through HPV, on the re-read it seems that the length is not compensated by the content, lots of talky-talk, and now that I am just past the halfway mark things are getting serious. HPVII is sitting next to my bed, beckoning me…but I am fighting the temptation.

Dinner is cooking, I am teaching daughter #3 a bit more cooking this summer so I am out here smelling the bacon and onions she is softening up, and then she will add the sliced carrots and water and split peas and put the pot on simmer. Then the brownies will go into the oven, and when they come out she will put together a cheesy green chili cornbread to go with the soup. The men who marry my daughters won’t go hungry!

It’s cold and damp enough that I gave in and turned the heater back on. The forecast is for yet more rain. Good thing I have books lined up! Oh, SCL, I joined your book exchange this morning, now I need to begin going through my books and get a pile ready to offer up. It looks like fun, and after hearing you talk about it for so long I gave in. Won’t skiffman be thrilled when I begin to send books off! Won’t he be even more thrilled when I begin to receive more books! :stuck_out_tongue: The man does not read for pleasure, and really does not understand it. When I first moved to the village I left behind a huge library of my own, and one of the first things I did when I arrived was to check out the village library, where I found one wall filled with Danielle Steele, another filled with Louis L’Amor, and another filled with copies of the National Enquire, True Confessions, and other tabloid magazines. I thought I was gonna die!

Back to HPV, I’ll check in again before bed…ta!

Local???

Florida? Well, that’s KINDA near Illinois, right?

Cuervo needs a little buddy…

My sewing machine does fine with non-stretch stitches, MagicEyes, but as soon as I set it to one of its fairly sizable variety of stretch stitches, it proceeds to loose the dogs of war, or the gremlins, or something. At least once I finish the last couple of shirt hems tomorrow, I can go back to what it likes better.

Let me know if you want me to knit teensy clothes for the monsters, FCM.

I hope the kitten’s eyes recover, Wile E. Poor baby, I hope he feels better soon, and I know he’ll end up in a happy home. And your Luna is beautiful!

When will you hear on the results of your test, BBBobbio? I too have every confidence that you’ve passed, and probably with a better score than you think you’ll get.

Papa Tigs came home tired and hungry, so instead of cooking we walked to a yummy rib & seafood place just down the road. (Not Crabcake Central, another place equally convenient.) It’s such a hardship living so close to so many awful restaurants.

just now feeling human after dealing with another blasted migraine style sinus headache which struck me right after I posted this morning. I bent down to pick up something the cat knocked off the desk and when I stood up, my sinuses were pounding. So I called in, and crawled back into bed until after 2pm. Then I lazed around watching TV until 8pm-ish, crawled back into bed, fell asleep to the Food Network and woke up when the cat decided I was a good launching pad for the window sill. So I really only skimmed the thread but I had to comment on a few things:

a compliment, of course, dahling. And since it’ll be an all virtual production, I get to play Tracey

Hell, honey, I was already doing that last week

I never said I was drooling over HP7. In fact I posted links to two humor lists with funny last lines of the last book. My cousin, however, now owns all 7 books, but has only read 2 and a half of them.

I watched it all the way thru, once. Now I only watch the competition scene, up to where he loses it because he realizes his wife and daughter are in the audience. I’m thinking if I watch it enough, I’ll learn the dances by osmosis.

I am going back to bed now, hopefully the headache will be completely gone by morning

Two more windows are tinted. That leaves two to go. After that, DH is saying I’ll then have the dining room windows, the kitchen windows, the family room windows…

Uh-uh! I’ve learned my lesson, and if he’s that desparate to do more windows, he can do them, or he can investigate what it’d cost for hiring someone to do it. Besides, the stuff is a bit pricey. My labor has somehow become free. :dubious:

Off to watch Gordon Ramsay terrorize more would-be chefs.
