There was that one guy who was convinced the earth was a hollow sphere. And he had cites to prove it too. Unfortunately, they were all in Polish.
He shows up periodically. Always has the same excuses for why he can’t change his life.
He does however, have a musical anoscope.
(my choice for the gold medal in the “odd, but delightfully funny” category.
There was the poster who was obsessed with the idea that the actress who played Daisy on Downton Abbey might be pregnant.
There was the poster who was convinced that she was friends with a ghost, but, to her credit, seemed at least open to discussing the idea that she might be making it up, and discussing ways to verify its existence.
We still ring that thing here at my office whenever a particularly notable patient gets released or transferred. Staff vie for the privilege of being the ringer.
Freekalette actually. Here’s the thread discussing it. The original “Ask the sex slave” thread was apparently removed by the Mods.
The fact that she had 3 young kids living with them at the time is what made it all horrible.
Ahh yes, thank you!
Here’s the thread in question. I love the part about how he moves the paying, seated customers out of his way, and the Borders is supposed to give him sandwiches. The whole thing is surreal.
I miss Super Kapowzler, I was never sure whether he was a danger to society or if he was the next Buddha incarnation.
And shit.
I can’t remember the poster or find the thread, but Miss “the menu is the God of ordering” was a hoot.
Honestly the real issue there was her adoration for Insane Clown Posse.
Do we count Cesario, or what his impassioned defense of pedophilia too disgusting to be considered odd?
What about the guy that was obsessed with Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ boobs.
I try to keep that to myself now.
Hey, it was JUST the left one.
The right one did nothing for me.
I’m not that odd.
Not me…mine were Richard Dreyfus’ boobs
Apparently, the Dreyfus case is still polarizing.
J’accuse…!
I get it.
There’s Blake who, against all evidence to the contrary, asserted that cats (and indeed all animals) couldn’t jump higher than two feet.
Actually that thread stands as one of the board’s ugliest examples of self-righteous, but erroneous, “group think”. Blake was essentially correct (nit-picking is always possible) and the people arguing against him were wrong in a dozen different ways – but no one cared about the gross lapses of logic from the posters who were on the same side as themselves.

The thread was re-animated this year. Best evidence currently available: YouTube video showing a cougar jumping about a meter, and a Savannah Cat reaching 48". The links in the reactivated thread are still working.
Your “two foot” reference is wrong. That was an initial value from Blake that he indicated was being made from memory, and was altered to “about a meter” after he checked his sources.
Of course if you have better evidence than that presented please offer it up. Better evidence is always a good thing.
My wife just reminded me of this - can’t remember the poster name or anything, but wasn’t there a person who was obsessed with the idea of preserving the placenta post-birth, so that it could be used for…something or other?
