Most of us know Odieman for his insightful and kind posts, and for his wit and intelligence in chat.
I’ve been one of the few Dopers to meet Keith IRL, and I can tell you he’s like that tenfold. He can read a phonebook and make it hysterically funny. We spent an afternoon at the mall in Minot, North Dakota one weekend in March, and it was definitely an afternoon well-spent. While browsing in the Waldenbooks, he recommended several good detective novels, some of which I’ve since read, and none of which have disappointed.
And, he’s one of the chosen few to have been welcomed to this board by Cecil himself, and if that doesn’t make him a folk hero, I don’t know what does.
You’re right, Robyn, Odie is a great person. Caring and supportive, a very good friend. And since I found out that he actually does talk, I’ve enjoyed chatting with him.
Keith is an awesome person. He is warm and sweet and gives great hugs. He is smart and funny and ALWAYS there when you need him.
I am lucky to be able to say that he is one of my best friends. He deserves only the very best in life, and if there is ANY justice in the world, he will get it soon.
Odie rules! This man knows his music, lemme tell ya.
he write great threads, too! I especially love that one thread? What was it called? Oh wait, that was someone else…
Just kiddin’, dude. You know I dig ya.
Coldie, that one was way too easy…especially for Odie.
Keith is also one of my closest friends on this board, and I love him dearly. He never fails to make me laugh, whether it be by reading my (dirty) mind, or just by his great sense of humor. He doesn’t mind when I call him ‘Odie Of The Frozen Tundra’ or ‘Odie, The Weird Canadian’, or even when I blame him when the soda machine refuses to take my useless Canadian quarters.
Seriously, Keith is a great person, I know I can go to him for anything, and he’s always willing to help. I know I can trust him, and I hope I can be half the friend to him as he is to me.
Love you Keith,
Rose
Odieman has been there for me a number of times when I needed someone to talk to. Thanks for being so understanding and supportive. And thanks for the laughs, too.
Well gee Keith I don’t know where to start - I can’t begin to tell you how much I’ve enjoyed getting to know you these last few weeks. And I’m definitly looking forward to getting to know you even better… How far is it from here to Canada?

Hey - I think you’re the first person I’ve ever hugged here. You must be special!

Keith is a great guy. We had a small bit of drama a while back which some of you may remember, but he was very open and honest, and tried to see everyone’s point of view.
He’s always been incredibly nice to me in chat, and always has a hello. Knows the music trivia for sure. Is usually a bit shy, and a little quiet, and modest, but I’m saying those are good things that go to make Keith who he is.
Odie is the bomb. I met the guy for 5 minutes, outside my old house in Minot, and he scared the bajeezus out of me. I mean, who parks their car behind yours as you are pulling out of the driveway, and slowly approaches your car with his hands in his pockets?
The guy rocks. Any fellah that would voluntarily come all that way from Canada to hang out with some complete strangers in Minot, ND is an okay joe in my book!
Tripler
I just wish it wasn’t only 5 minutes.
I don’t know what to say here…I am a bit embarrased to have a whole thread devoted to me…but it is nice to see a lot of my favorite people in one spot. I would like to thank everybody for their kind remarks (god why do I feel like I am giving an Oscar speech). I would like to thank everybody who I haven’t thanked, and I would love to be able to meet those of you I haven’t met before…although I will warn ya…there isn’t a lot to see up here if you are planning on travelling. Minot is in the scenic part of the world around here…it just gets flatter and emptier north of there…
Keith
P.S. Contrary to popular reports, I am not a trivia master…I just find it hard to forget some of the horrible stuff I hear on the radio…:shudder:…
