The Office 10-9-08 - Business Ethics

Was it really that long ago?

Jeez, time really seems to be running together lately.

Yep, I just looked up the actress in Wikipedia. It said that the accident she had (fell down a flight of stairs) occurred in May 2007.

Did anyone else think the corporate HR guy’s voice sounded a LOT like Oscar?

I think you’re right. That is, I remember the situation, and think it was Hammermill.

If you wanted to fankwank this one, we could posit that Meredith’s meet-up guy was previously the rep for a different supplier, and that they continued their arrangement when he moved to Hammermill.

I guess Meredith’s best line sort of sums her up: “Maybe it’s a girl thing, but . . . after we do it, when he gives me those steak coupons . . . I just feel good about myself.”

Was Andy “in on it” with Michael when he was egging on Dwight?

I liked this episode a lot. I like the simple in office episodes and I like that Meredith got some more air time.

Yeah, but I’m pretty sure she recovered before shooting began for this season.

The best part about the Battlestar Galactica conversation is that Rainn Wilson didn’t have have to do all that much, because the BSG fans were just bristling along with Dwight.

With Jim, you mean?

I didn’t think so. To me, Andy seemed a bit clueless but earnestly interested. Especially the ‘That doesn’t sound right’ when Jim got a bit too outrageous at the end.

Too funny

I definitely want to watch that show where Dumbledore Calrissian has to get the Ring back to Mordor.

I guess it’s an accurate reflection of the current employment picture that Holly caved to corporate, but it was disappointing. But one side of me says so what to Meredith and the Hammermill guy making their own deals. There’s no intimidation, so who are they hurting? Guess I’d fail the ethics test too. Was the Hammermill guy doing something special to get the Outback coupons? I’m picturing a flow chart, with penises instead of arrows. Outback to Hammermill to Dunder-Mifflin to ?

I’m curious about Holly’s social life, before we met her. She’s just odd and geeky enough that it might be hard for her to find the right guy.

I know!
I wonder about her youth. We’ve been fed bits and pieces of info concerning Michael’s childhood that may have contributed to attention/approval-seeking behavior. So, what the hell happened to Holly!? I wonder what helped make her such a goof. Not that being a goof is a bad thing. I like women with unique personalities, (to an extent of course).

She did said she used to get picked on in school.

I thought this episode was hilarious. I was snickering the whole time. The only thing this episode was missing was Creed (aside from in the intro). I expect he’ll show up in some deleted scenes on the Season 5 DVDs.

Hammermill’s exclusive arrangement with Staples was for them to distribute their product, afaik. Meredith was just banging the rep for a discount on their office supplies. Huge difference.

Yeah, I thought that the joke there was that Hammermill is Dunder Mifflin’s biggest competition, but even D-M uses their products.

Go here:

if you want to see a deleted scene with him in it.

The Unkempt One Should too.

Creed’s confession’s fitting, but Phyllis’…! Neither were office related though.

I thought the funniest bit was when Michael was very seriously asking the camera, “How do you tell someone you care very deeply about ‘I told you so?’”

As if there was no question that he HAD to say it; it was just a matter of how to best go about it. I’m still cracking up over that one!

Holy Crap! Phyllis!

I kept expecting her to be joking. I think there’s a reason they deleted that scene… it went WAY too far, imho.

I was just happy to see Meredith finally get a good part in an episode. She was barely in Season 4 at all–she didn’t even have many lines in the season opener, where she was central to the story.

Dwight’s look at the camera after admitting that he wasn’t 100% ethical was great.

You beat me to it…but I was beginning to wonder “jeez - don’t these people have the internet?”
