Looks like Michael is going up north to Canada.
Meh…not a terribly funny episode, but it had its moments. Did Michael sleep with that woman, or did she kick him out before anything happened? I assume they had sex, since he was half-dressed, and she just wouldn’t let him stay afterward.
My favorite part:
Oscar: What’s first base with Angela?
Andy: I get to kiss her forehead.
And when Dwight interrupted Jim and Pam and asked her to make him copies.
Pam: I’m not going inside.
Dwight: First thing in the morning then.
PAM IS BACK!
I was so angry when I thought they were going to keep her in NYC for the rest of the season!
“It’s cool.”
My feeling was that Michael did not have sex with the concierge woman, although it’s equally possible he did and she kicked him out because she didn’t want to cuddle with him. Maybe the deleted scenes will shed some light on that.
Also, on the topic of the concierge, I didn’t get the ongoing joke of Michael saying, “They had one (a concierge).” Did he think that was a code for prostitute, or something?
I was surprised to see Pam return at the end. I thought they were going to milk her being away for the entire season, only to have her ultimately reappear at the end. I don’t think her return spells good things for PB&J’s long-term future: I think she will be regretful that she left New York for the rest of the show, and could quite possibly leave the unmotivated Jim. I don’t know if they will truly go through with ending the show with them not together… but who knows.
All in all, an OK episode, on par with about each one from this season. I guess I’ve become accustomed not to expect any true knee slapper moments out of The Office anymore; it seems more like a very light-hearted prime time soap. Which is fine. As always, I enjoyed Andy, and I think it’s going to be a shame once his heart is completely shattered; on the other hand, it’s all because of his own dumbassery.
So poor Andy is demoted to kissing Angela’s forehead; whereas she was doing God knows what with Dwight before, and probably immediately after, his phone call. (Possibly during.)
I thought that Oscar played it perfectly during the drunken call to Angela, with the whole-hog encouragement straight into “oh no, don’t really call her” while breaking out into laughter. That whole exchange cracked me up.
Nope. This season has made it quite clear that Pam and Jim are meant to be together and are both emotionally intelligent enough to avoid or resolve the kind of manufactured dramas that usually break up television couples. Except for the separation itself, every hint of trouble has been a head fake, resolved almost as soon as its brought up.
Jim and Pam have won. The show will look elsewhere for its relationship drama.
It wasn’t bad.
I quit pursuing art classes for some of the, (hopefully legit), reasons Pam talked about. I tried it twice, and though I feel I’m fairly creative, it just didn’t seem to enjoy it all that much. I’m trying to motivate myself to find something to work towards. I can’t say I’m not a little disappointed that it didn’t work out, or that Pam didn’t explore possible other options. It was kind of inspiring to me to look into things I may want to work for. I understand why she went back and I was glad Jim supported her staying.
I think the woman changed her mind last minute, or could it have been Michael
(Oh… please don’t call it a soap mshar253!! I don’t watch soaps!!)
I think maybe Michael decided he didn’t want to go through with it. They’re making it pretty clear he’s still stuck on Holly.
I’ve merged the two Office threads for this week.
I was kind of disappointed Pam came back, but that’s probably just `cause I’m anti-relationship and pro living alone in New York.
The actress who played the concierge looked familiar. Where do I know here from?
Reno 911
I feel the same way. Jim and Pam are my least favorite thing about the show.
Yes! Thank you.
I don’t think Oscar meant to get Andy in trouble; he started out seriously asking him, “What do you see in that woman?” which I thought was (and is) an excellent question.
“Wing Man For Life!”
Michael being a big baby is never my favourite moment on the show. He put his finger on something, though - the way they don’t fire him no matter what idiocy he gets up to. It ain’t respect; I’m not sure what it is.
The AV Club thinks that Michael confused “concierge” with “concubine.” I think it was the “geisha” line that gave it away.
Also, is this the beginning of a beautiful friendship between Andy and Oscar? I think it was very subtly played. Oscar’s reaction to Andy’s phone call was perfect. I’m glad that he got some screen time this episode.
Don’t know why, but I disagree with many here when they rate Office episodes. When the majority say it was just an OK episode, I think it’s great. On the other hand, last week’s people thought was an awesome episode. I thought it was eh.
Anyway, I loved last night’s episode.
Kelly and Ryan: When Ryan found out that Darryl didn’t give a shit that Kelly broke up with him, the look on his face was priceless.
Michael and David Wallace: I love it when Michael’s character is lucid and says things that make sense. He absolutely let David have it for moving Holly away and he was completely pissed and in control. Wallace could say nothing back, because he knew Michael was right AND he made a huge sale. Look for Holly to return, possibly in a different role (different job).
Dwight and Angela: Anyone catch when Andy phoned her drunk, you could hear Dwight in the background, “Who is it, monkey?” Ouch. Prediction: Andy dumps Angela. Oscar was good therapy for Andy in the situation.
I don’t care about Jim and Pam anymore. They both have bland personalities and are always criticizing others. The other characters are so much more interesting.
I bet Michael tried to pay her and she was understandably outraged and booted his ass to the curb.
