I love that the writers are consistent with Michael and Toby hating each other. If you go back and watch the first season through now, it’s been building more and more.
It really picked up when Toby declined Michael’s “Hooters” purchase.

I don’t think it was anyone FROM Dunder-Mifflin. They share the building with other companies, don’t they? (There were other companies listed in the vestibule when they were with the security guy.) Dwight just assumed it was a D-M thing.
I completely forgot about Jim imitating Stanley. That was perfect.
I brought a copy of the show in for a co-worker today, who’s also a huge fan of the show, and we’re debating sneaking into the conference room to watch it .
E.
I actually felt a little bad for Dwight having to go against his own principles but the “Supervisor of Security” thing was just the ticket to make him feel better.
There were a lot of good lines…the whole “rules of Jinx” thing was pretty funny (and isn’t Pam just the epitome of the female co-worker that any guy would totally fall in love with?). I also liked Jim’s interview to the camera when he said, “Man, what a day to not be able to talk. Dwight was carrying his own urine around dressed like one of the Village People.”
Huh. What I got from the scene was that Ryan wants to work **anywhere[/b but at D-M. Up to and including travelling through the countryside and collecting peoples’ urine in cups…

I also think this was the best episode of the season. Can someone fill me in on how the whole drug test thing started?I tuned in as Dwight was showing the heavyset lady (I still think of her as Mother Goose)the picure and she said it was marijuana. “It’s labelled”. Ha! Perfect deadpan.
Dwight found a half-smoked joint in the parking lot. He then immediately drew a chalk outline around it, cordoned off the spot with pylons and donned his honorary sheriff’s deputy uniform to solve the crime.
That just reminded me of Michael’s question to Dwight after he took off his uniform.
“Where’s your costume?”
"It’s a UNIFORM!’
Too funny. Thanks.
Alicia Keyes is the sort of safe mainstream female vocalist that someone like Michael would for sure listen to. If it was someone like Nelli Furtado, that would be kind of strange.
Although I don’t think this was the best episode of the season (I think the burned foot and Valentine’s day are better) I did really like it.
The best part of the Creed/Dwight scene wasn’t that Credd new exactly what kind of bud it was …but that Dwight just shook his head and said “No… it’s marijuana.” and eliminated Creed from the suspects list.
Yeah, that’s how I read that scene, too. Sort of like Ryan’s unspoken response was “Um… working anywhere else would be better than working here…”
I think one reason this show is working (at least for me) much better now than when it premiered is that they are really working the other characters more – we’re seeing much more in the way of interactions and subtleties between all the characters, including all their quirks. (Rather than the one “doofus of a manager” joke run into the ground – which is what the series premiere felt like to me).
This was one of my favorites of the season. SO much good stuff in it.
I think at some point this season the whole Kelly/Ryan thing has to come to a head. Kelly has been blabbering on about it for a while. Either Ryan has to yell at her to stop (and then get yelled at by Michael, who thinks he’s being the good guy in the situation) or just give in. Or, Kelly will just end up being a stalker, which may be the funniest way to do it.
I second Monstre in that the show seems to work when you know the characters. The brilliant writing and acting helps too.
I’m just happy it isn’t tanking like Arrested Development.
Can you see Michael coming down hard on him though, for anything? He seems to have some kinda creepy, nonsexual crush on Ryan.
I like the stalker Kelly scenario, though.
Off topic, but my favorite Ryan line this year has to be when he’s talking about Jim’s prospective vacation plans, when Jim was first talking about going somewhere distant and exotic. I think Jim will wind up spending a fun weekend in Philadelphia.
Well Michael does have a mancrush on Ryan, but he won’t want to look like the ‘uncaring’ boss while all the women in the office shoot daggers with their eyes at Ryan (because they won’t know what is going on). He’ll probably do what he did with Dwight in this episode. Do something bad to him and then reward him in another way.
Loved the episode. The Inflexible Rules of Jinx. Dwight re-enacting the last puff and tossing of a joint, to try to determine just where it came from. Jim’s fake crying in the drug seminar.
I still haven’t watched the Season 1 DVD, so tell me—do they ever say why there is a camera recording everything that goes on between the employees?
“Can I have a gun? How many orange traffic cones do you have?”
Oh, that poor guy!
They are making a documentary. I imagine it’s supposed to be like one of those TLC shows like the airline one.
Thank you!
The best episode, in my and my wife’s opinon, was The Injury. Michael burns his foot on his George Foreman grill and makes a huge scene. Dwight was concusioned and acted nice for once.
The whole scene in the car with Jim spraying Michael and Dwight like naughty dogs is worth the whole series.
