So, I’m guessing the cellphone photo that Michael took of Dwight making out with the basketball chick was sent to everyone at the office, right? If so, I’m surprised we didn’t get a reaction shot from Angela.
I thought it would have been funnier if the sun would have been rising over the building when Hank pulled into the parking lot, showing that it really did take him *all night * to get there. Of course he was pissed that he got yanked out of bed for nothing, but it took him half an hour to put on his socks.
Also: Did Michael go home after his peanut-butter scalp massage? If not, didn’t he smell like peanut butter all day and why didn’t somebody mention it? That might have been a conversation-starter for him at the club. “I bet you wonder what cologne I’m wearing!”
I think the peanut butter incident was supposed to have happened on a different day than the clubbing.
And he was rambling intensely about nonsense.
And he was happy to see Michael and Dwight show up at the club
And he was talking jibberish to some weird random guy.
Is any more evidence needed?
…Or makes fun of his height. Or his half beard -
Ryan: Ok
It wasn’t that small. As I recall, it seemed pretty high-up with a nice view, and I imagine that Ryan would live somewhere midtown-ish. I would think that apartment would be at least $2000 a month. I know people who live in Hell’s Kitchen who pay more than a grand for apartments like that. Heck, I don’t think I could get an apartment like that in some Brooklyn neighborhoods for under a grand.
Overall, I liked the episode more than the previous two, but it still felt sort of off.
My favorite part was probably Jim bungling things again. I also liked Ryan calling him out on having spoken to one of the higher-ups about his concerns with the website. Taking him own a few pegs keeps him from being a total asshole, which has been a problem since he got together with Pam.
Now we know what Michael is looking for in a woman: Crawford-ness.
And that guy did look a bit like a hobbit. I’m just sayin’.
“Do you live in a normal sized house?”
And his hobbit friend said “Don’t take him to a hospital”.
Why didn’t Phyllis call Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration, to get somebody to open the gate? He’s one of the Five Families!
I agree this doesn’t hold a candle to the season 1 & 2 episodes, but the more I think about it, the more I like it. Not only does Jim’s “good idea” backfire monstrously, he actually started to meander toward a Scottesque casual racism. The only thing he really remembers about the security guard is he’s “ah, er, African American,” and he automatically recruits Oscar to communicate with the cleaning crew.
I also liked Michael having a couple redeeming moments, like his backhanded defense of Ryan and his “half beard.” I also felt deep empathy when the young chick said, “I’ve never heard of that movie.” (The other day I realized that the distant future in the BTTF franchise is only six years from now - ouch!)
Thank you, this was driving me insane the entire time.
Also, I assume Jim didn’t call Hank back because Toby was the only one who had his number, and he had flown the coop.
Actually, it’s seven years. 2015
In my head I just said Bob must be off at the Annual Refrigeration and Storage Expo in Reno, Nevada.
This show is getting brutal. I love it.
My thoughts exactly.
The cringe-worthiness is spreading to other characters. It’s a good time to be watching The Office!
As much as I’m usually the one defending the newer episode, I have to say that I wasn’t blown away by this one.
This episode and the last one seem like obvious throwbacks to the UK version, which makes me think that they’re running out of ideas.
ie. Michael meeting and being underwhelmed by his blind date = David on his blind date with the fat woman he met on the net.
or
Michael and Dwight going to the club with Ryan COULD equal Tim, David, Gareth and Finchy going to Chasers that night. In last night’s episode Dwight is the only one that hooks up, and in the UK Gareth was the only one.
I fail to see these similarities as an homage, but more as writers scrambling for ideas.
Also, I wish we had more in-office episodes, it seems these season is wrought with episodes that take place out of the office.
