The official election day 2012 thread: 11/6/12

I felt old a while ago.

No it’s not. The only way he’s going to leave office is feet first.

It looks like the proposed amendment to Minnesota’s constitution that would ban same-sex marriage will be narrowly defeated. MPR is currently listing 83.1% reporting with 50.6% opposed to the amendment, 48% in favor, and 1.4% blank (which are counted as "no"s).

I think I can finally go to bed now. (I’m glad I took today off from work.)

I still hold out hope that he’ll leave office in handcuffs.

Big surprise in Arizona. Most expected Gifford’s hand picked successor to easily hold the Dem seat. He won a special election in June.

Looks like a run off to me. A Rep win would strengthen the majority they already have in the House.

Is anyone watching nbcnews right now? Do they just not give a fuck anymore because it’s late? Their commentary on the marijuana initiatives was totally unprofessional and hilarious.

I guess you didn’t watch the Comedy Central news coverage. There was one that played 36 minutes before your post, right after the Colbert Report finished. It ended it pretty definitively. I think you’ll like it.

Do share

Anyone stepped outside recently? Smells decidedly less rapey outside my kitchen. I’m so excited Ima go to Maryland and marry a hard working, professional woman with a thick binder.

Goddamn I’m loving this evidence of social evolution. Lying here beside my snoring infant, just full of certainty that she’ll be the captain of her life. If things had gone the other way, I couldn’t have said that.

I had to go to bed early on… but I just now woke up, hours before I’m supposed to leave for work, and found myself half afraid to check the election results.

Jesus Haploid Christ. After the last few weeks I’ve had, it feels damn good to have some good news. Everything I voted for passed, both here in Maryland and the entire country. I must admit, I’m a little weepy. Or maybe a little sleepy; can’t tell which right now.

Ha! NBC’s 2:30-3am EST…
Lester Holt: “its been a good night for pot smokers”
Brian Williams: “Leave your personal life out of this.”

They were talking about having the munchies, and one said to the other something like, “So, I’ll see you in Boulder next weekend.”

I mean, it wasn’t funny for regular people to say, but on a national newscast? “Hey man, let’s go out and get fucked up on tequila this Friday, okay?” That’s all the way legal and you still wouldn’t expect to hear it on national news banter.

I voted in Latah County, Idaho today. The woman who was taking the ballots and dropping them from the cardboard privacy cover into the actual ballot box screwed it up and my ballot slid outa bit. She was pretty old, and I’m quite sure it wasn’t on purpose. Also, the votes for the actual people were on the second page, so all anyone could have possibly seen in the few seconds it took to get it in the box was how I voted on education-related propositions.

The Independent candidate for State Representative in my district is Pro-Life. Not his platform…his name!:smack:

Beautiful post.

I am proud to be an American today.

OTOH, reminders of a commie hippie liberal like Nixon might not be at all soothing to the current crop of Republicans.

Same here, in Virginia (President, Senate, House, eminent domain amendment).

Well, you can’t very well expect the voices inside their heads to penetrate their tinfoil hats and reach your TV, now can you?

Now that there’s no longer anything to be gained by fellating the wingnuts in his party, he is free to salvage what he can of his reputation by acting gracious.

And they’re partying in Obama, Japan.

Don’t you mean Washington and/or Colorado?
