Being just as quick to speak out against sleazy Democrats as against sleazy Republicans?
Refusing to sling partisan “So what? SomeRepublican did it to!!!” tu quoques?

“Did it too,” but whatever. Isn’t it self-serving to expect the other side (whatever side it is) to be more nonpartisan with no intention of doing so yourself? Last I checked, the Republican voters were still gloating over re-electing one of the most profoundly incompetent presidents in history. I’d support a mildly corrupt Democrat over anyone who supports that SOB, and I’d do so out of deeply held principles.
That, plus not letting them have nominations, party money, and all the trappings and trimmings that come with magisterial power.
And these are non-sequiturs, I don’t know or care about you’re voting behavior specifically.
So point 1 is just a volley back with the tennis ball. “You should hold your own side accountable” <thok> “You go first.”
Point 2 is, I am not going to serve the more-corrupt GOP by repeating their talking points about minor flaws of Democratic candidates.
My own opinion of rjung is that he post an on-topic anti-Bush statement, then sticks around and defends it. Not that it needs much defending, seeing as how Bush is often genuinely guilty of what he is being accused of.
Yeah, but my music taste is mostly several decades out of date, hence the whimsical reference to “the kiddies”.
:: turns up his Charles Mingus album ::
Well, he had to do something to make up his lack of “Get a Mac!” drivebys of late.
Yes, but rjung’s use of the characterization “evil” is not fairly described as hyperbole, since he defends it literally.
As do you, if I’m not mistaken.
Now, admittedly Mr. Moto’s Air America thread was not a great example of the genre. I don’t think it’s particularly admirable.
If I were guessing, though, I’d say he offered it in reaction to the many similarly-weighty threads that appear here criticizing the right. No excuse, perhaps, but I can testify from personal experience that after you have clods and clods of mud tossed at you, the temptation to throw one or two clods back can get pretty strong. And yet when you do, some …er… clod immediately points and screams at how you’re tossing mud. In particular, the reputation **rjung[/] enjoys on these boards makes his decision to post this screed particularly questionable. Physician, heal thyself.
That’s not really the point. Partisan shit stinks no matter whose ass lets loose; it’s not OK for you to be an asshole just because some Republicans are assholes too.
This is exactly the sort of partisan bullshit that needs to stop. From both sides.
What you are imploring is for people to willfully divide themselves and allow themselves to be beaten easier. Been there, done that. I’m not voting for any more purer-than-thou Nader candidates. I’m going to beat the really bad guys and go back to the sorta bad guys, back to the good old days when we had time to give a shit about Interns and the Lincoln Bedroom.

You insinuate that after all this time, rjung is partisan??
Veritably, the world totters upon its axis.
Incidentally, in that thread on what new members should avoid when it comes to selecting usernames, I was going to suggest Ides of December.
I’m trying to decide whether calling me a Christian is an insult to me or to Christians.
I double-dog-dare ya to read my posts in Cafe Society or IMHO and reiterate that claim.
He say things like “Bush is evil because of A, B, and C.” He then defends his statements. That is quite literal. However, any comment SIMPLY STAING “bUSH IS TEH EVAL!”, after he has posted why, is quite clearly hyperbole.
Problem is, the liberals are throwing accusations which later are proven to be true, while the republicans are throwing little harmless balls of paper. You see this as having clods of mud thrown at you. So what? You are genuinely guilty of support a horrible president.
Mr. Moto’s primary sin is not agreeing with the vocal majority in GD. I have always found his posts well written.
If you’re asking me to pretend that Bush is really a not-so-bad president and that the country even MIGHT be in the wrong direction, out of diplomacy or anything else, I cannot. It just feels like a lie to me. I think Republicans are imploring Democrats to enable the lie that Bush isn’t completely fucking up the country, and I sense that as Republicans get more strident it’s because they’re coming to the realization that they’ve made a horrible, horrible mistake.
Won’t that turn the “sort of” bad guys into “really” bad guys? Giving them power and our checkbook?
Well, you know, if you cook shit up, it’s shit for dinner.
Nah. The Dems aren’t smart enough or ambitious enough to achieve the levels of profoundly evil that Republicans achieve. Dems are mostly happy with a little nooky on the side and few dollars under the table. I know I would be.
What did YOU have for dinner? Are you living in some shadow country where the purity of your ideology has created a tax-free, pollution-free Nirvana? Or are you rolling in the shit that other people shat, like the rest of us? And what do you propose to do about it, besides tsking at a bunch of strangers every 38 seconds because they haven’t achieved a Jesus-like love and understanding of their political opponents that you’ve not demonstrated once on this board?
