Well, my journalistic friend, if you’re going down for the day, I am well and truly ska-roood.
On the other hand, I can navigate that stretch of the GSP with no problemo, even under cover of darkness.
Think about it…

Not sure … I have unconfirmed reports that the missus may be visiting at some point, so we may be able to do this after all …
Though when I’ll speak to her I don’t know.
Comin’ down to the wire, eh?
Well, if it happens, it happens. I’d hate to miss getting together with some really fine people (I mean, I haven’t seen Wonko in, like, a year or so! And I haven’t seen Zappo in, like, two weeks or so!). But things being what they may, if I have to take a Pasadena, so be it.
If my saying I’ll be designated driver helps (at least to my house), then, hey, I’ll teetotal.
Not to worry; she called last night. She does intend on coming up tomorrow, with a slight chance of her not being able to. (frustrating, isn’t it?)
She would really like to go, as would I, but I would feel bad if we left you all alone at home. :sad
What time will you be home from your vanquishing vermin?
I’m thinking, if I can talk her into it, that we just meet at Casa Dave-Guy at about that time and skip out as soon as you’re ready.
How’s that sound?
I will be there, but I do not know when I will be able to arrive.
The suspense is killer, is it not?
It’s killin’ me!
Death by Suspense, the latest Stephen King thriller. In it, the audience simply dies waiting for J. D. Salinger to write something else.
It is. And don’t worry, Dave, I would just as soon avoid the outsidedness anyway: it’ll be chilly for the kid, and I can’t hike.
We may as well wait til later and go together ('course, you’ll have to sit in the back with the other kiddie).
Oh, yes, and I finally get to meet …
ZAP!
Aaron’s pretty much the same. He’ll probably fall asleep in the car on the way over, be conscious enough to say hello for a few hours, then pass out in his carrier when he’s ready. And he can sleep through anything. He’s slept through fire-engine sirens before. [sub]Like father, like son.[/sub]

Well, I’m pretty sure the doctor’s not going to let me do this. I’ve been wearing this boot for a few weeks, and it’s tough to walk in, let alone hike. And I don’t think - but I’ll still check - he’ll let me go without it.
Which means you guys are gonna have to survive without me. Sure, it’ll be tough at first, but you’ll manage. Just think of me whilst hiking. I’ll be on here, posting. Or maybe I’ll be napping. I have a lot planned.
Woohoo! I’ma meet Gorgon Heap & The Gorglet, see The Dave-Guy AND meet the lovely and talented Pucette!
Plus a road trip with MsRobyn and Young Mr. Doors!
And Green Bean and The Beansprout?
Yowzers. This is gonna be fun.
[sub]Note to self: remember to use utensils and inside voice.[/sub]
Zap!
Well, does the doctor still allow you to eat? If so, maybe you can make it for dinner at 6 in Cranford. Come on! The more, the merrier!
Naw, he’s against my eating. He recommended an IV.
Oh, I could do dinner! But you see, it’s a long drive for me - I’m down here in Maryland. I have family up there, though, so I did have a place to go to.
Who knows, maybe I can still work this out…
[Bumpkin]
You can do iiiiiit!

Well, there’s a possibility that the Tees won’t make it after all. BabyTee has an ear infection and a cold. He’s got two days on antibiotics to feel better though, so we’ll probably show in Cranford, but we’ll have to see.
If Mr.Tee and BabyTee can’t make it, I’m sure that Mr.Tee will send me forth alone into the night by myself, so hopefully I, at least, will be there. Too bad–I was hoping that my Aaron (BabyTee) could meet AaronJustinDoors. And of course, he’d love to see his friend Arthur.
Mr. Tee… :snicker snicker:
I pity da foo who don’t post on the SDMB!
DrMatrix and I will be there for the evening festivities.
Okay, here’s the deal.
I got a cold. I doubt I’ll be contagious by Saturday, but I just may not feel up to it. I won’t know until Saturday.
And, while I would miss everyone terribly, I wouldn’t wish to be a wet blanket and spoil everyone else’s fun. Nor would I want Gorgon Heap and the beautifully elfin Acrylic Vessel to feel they had to leave early to taxi the sick guy home.
I’m on the fence on this right now, a lot depends on how I feel Saturday, which would be the fourth or fifth day since the onset of this whole thing.
Can we leave me up in the air (in a nice way, I mean) for now?
I’ll be getting home probably around 2:00 or so. If people are meeting at the restaurant at 6:00, we should leave my house at around 5:00.
Since the board is being crotchety, can I suggest email for solidifying plans?
I’ve hedge more than a flotilla of suburban lawns, but…
I talked to my doctor tonight, asking him if exercise would be good for the foot. He asked how it was feeling, and I said it wasn’t feeling all that great. He said he definitely would prefer I rested it, and he added he was going to order an MRI for me to see if there’s a tear somewhere.
So, in light of that…
I know what you’re thinking. HEY! you think. Why can’t he just drive and dine? Trouble is, this is my right foot, and driving adds stress to the ankle.
I’m such a schmuck!
