The Official New York RibFest Thread

Anita! Wooooo! So glad you’re gonna be there. Can you entice your wunnerful sister and bro-in-law to come, too? Or is that just too much to axe?

We may need more green veggies, like a salad or sumpin’, but we can hold off for another couple months on it, sure. And Casa Dave-Guy will be crowded, yes, but as long as the weather holds out, a lot of people can hang out on the palatial less-than-a-quarter-acre grounds. This is why we desperately need lawn chairs, kids, unless you wanna park yer carcasses on the front steps, the bumpers of cars, or smack in the grass (or moss, as is more likely the case).

Oh yeah. Kids make awesome footstools! I’ve got three!

You’ve got three feet? Does Patrick know about this?

Sounds like fun. Back in March, June seemed so far off, but now it’s just right after May. Two months away!

It will be nice to see people when it’s not in the frigid depths of winter. And it’s closer to CT than Manhattan, so that’s a bonus.

So count me in, and I think I can manage to bring a pot of chili. And diet soda if you need it.

If anyone in Connecticut along the coast (below Bridgeport) needs a ride, I can oblige.

Mmmmm, chile [drooooool].

Sounds good to me! Are you planning to stay for Sunday brunch?

No, no - that’s all wrong!

She’s Anita Vacation. You’re Dave Wooooo!

Sheez.

$&

This does sound like a great idea.

Of course he knows! He gave me the third one!

Smack Fu, I’m glad you’re coming. I’m going to post an update this weekend, so I’ll be sure to put you (and your chili – I’m really looking forward to that!) on the list. Part of the five bucks you’re paying goes to cover the cost of beverages, plates, utensils, napkins, so don’t worry about scoring any diet soda. We’ll have diet and non-diet formulas aplenty, rest assured.

Sorry, RT, I got so excited, I had an out-of-body experience.

Persephone,

Next, on Ripley’s Believe It or Not …

There’s also the Green Inn Motel On The Lake At 65 N Route 9W, Congers a few miles north of 87 & across from Rockland Lake. Never been there but it looks clean and reasonable. Thery’re so fancy, they don’t even have a website, but they do have a phone (845) 268-6836. (Just don’t make the mistake of passing it and pulling into the Sec. 8 hotel a few blocks north on the east side of 9W)

That’s not bad info, JohnBckWLD. Thing is, Congers is further away from my house, and further from the Thruway and other major arteries (f’rinstance, it’s pretty far from my femoral artery right now).

Still, I could give directions to and from.

Just smile and nod, dang it! I’m trying to make you look good!

Sorry I didn’t update sooner. Work got crazy-busy all of a sudden, and I’ve been either too busy or too tired to do much with this.

Date and Time: June 14, 2003, starting roughly at noon and going until whenever
Place: Casa Dave-Guy. Please let me know if you need directions, and from whence you are coming. I am easily accessible from the NYThruway, the Palisades Interstate Parkway, the NJTurnpike, the Garden State Parkway, and the buses from PABT and the GWBridge.

If you have folding chairs or lawn chairs, you might want to bring them. Also, maybe another grill. I’ll supply the charcoal.

We could still use some more side dishes on the order of salads (green, macaroni, Jell-O, etc.), and maybe more veggie sticks and bread. Desserts look like they may be covered pretty well. And anyone else who wants to bring chili or baked beans or something, please do. We’ll have over 30 people if this list holds true, and there needs to be enough to go around.

Anything I’ve forgotten?

Hey, Jello-O and Jello-O shots are the same thing. Right? Right?

Having met Cosmopolitan at the NYFest in January, I can attest that she’s a dish.

Sure! If you don’t mind a station wagon ride with MsRobyn and BombBay Doors as well as Verrain and TruePisces My email’s in my profile. . .drop me a line and I can give ya a ride out.

I’m staying over Saturday; will that be a problem for you?

Oakeley-dokaley!

A sleeping-chamber at the palatial Days Inn has been reserved in my name and I have cleared my calendar for the afore-mentioned date.

All that remains are the procurement of some chipped potatoes and other snack-comestibles and I shall be there.

As opposed to being square.

Only in that my kids and my wife will partake of neither of them.

Zappo, you da MAN! And don’t forget the Vernor’s on pain of having Mrs. Dave-Guy be annoyed with you.

I think it’s safe to add Airman Doors to the list of attendees.

He can keep us entertained with war stories.
