Enjoyed our three day weekend then one day at work then we are off to the UK for my sisters wedding. We wanted to leave a couple of days ago but flights were 3 times the price!
Houston has been surprisingly cool so far…we are waiting for August to hit with a vengeance. No summer plans this year other than try to get to know the new area a bit.

Spidey I requested the pic for flytrap’s benefit. If I see a pic of PB in his boxers then I can judge whether or not it’s worth it for Mrs. Plant (V.3.0.) to get up at six in the ante meridian to look. It’s all really just for research.

Up early on the last day of houseguests. **FCD **and his folks are all still sleeping. Higgs has been fed and she’s been out to potty, cat’s box has been scooped, the sprinkler is started on the front lawn, and I’m caffeinating. We’re leaving around 1130 for lunch enroute to Union Station. The train leaves at 3 and we want to get them there by 2, so there’s no rushing about. They’ll be back in FL tomorrow morning - I don’t envy them spending the night trying to sleep in the train (not in a sleeper compartment.)
So other than getting the inlaws on their way, we have no plans today. I’ll need to empty the dishwasher, but that’s pretty much it. Tomorrow I’ll labor, today I’ll chill. The next 5 days are forecast to be uncomfortably close to 90° and sunny - I see a lot of watering in the coming mornings. And, alas, I see the house being closed up and the a/c being turned on again. Dammit.
Still, it beats a sharp stick in the eye by a Sri Lankan spider…

Summer vay-cay will be a 16 hr+ car ride up to Maine to spend a week in the Great Out Doors on a lake with Jynxster Mom, Jynxster Mom’s relatives (my cousins & their families) and Mr. Jynxster Mom. Hold me. I am NOT really looking forward to this but its for my Mom so there ya go. Jynxster Dad wisely refused to go.
Fabu weather over the weekend. Grilled out with friends last night. Not ready for irk, but yet here I am. Mr. Jynxster starts his new/old job today so yay for that. Oh yeah, Mr. Jynxster was also in a little fender bender on Thorsday, but he is fine. The car has some damage and is in the shop but will be ok, took out the passanger side turn signal and damaged the front bumper some. Low impact collision. Luckily, it was the other person’s fault (she pulled out right in front of him and the cop gave her a ticket) and she does have insurance so that is all covered, just will be a hassle dealing with everything.
I need to get it into my head that today is Tuesday, keep forgeting.

I have let loose the Sri Lankan spider complete with pointy stick. Believe me, if it wasn’t necessary I wouldn’t have done it, but I am irked beyond reason with A Certain Member of Staff. Thus the ninja attack spider has been sent on a mission.
We have three more days of exams here, so the countdown has begun. I had one student who came in for a departmental exam which had been arranged on the assumption that she was using an amanuensis but she turned up alone, having decided she didn’t need one. Well, that was a waste of resources…she could have sat the exam with the rest of the extra-time students instead of requiring a room by herself and an invigilator that has to come out of department funds. Apparently she pulled the same trick last week too so I will be having stern words with the student support office about that.
For the next two days, I have a student coming in for departmental sits who is pregnant so she needs to take her exams alone due to the high frequency of loo breaks required! Luckily I have booked her a room right next to the facilities so she won’t have far to go. Roll on Thursday afternoon, that’s what I say.
In other news, my assignment here was only meant to be for 2 months, now they are asking me to stay on as they have failed to recruit to the post yet so it looks like I will be here for a while longer.
Tonight is Fat Club and I’m not looking forward to getting on those scales after a week of living on beer and lard, then coming home and completely failing to get back on my diet and exercise plan. Oh well, tomorrow is the start of another week, right?

Well, after a full two years of moving, the Pepperwinkles are finally esconced in Chateau Pepperwinkle, the last few items having left storage yesterday.
So, we just want to sit in our new house and vacation in the cozy warmth of home. Next year’s Princess Pepperwinkle’s wedding, so that’ll take up any budget for vacation that year. Somehow we won’t miss it.
Especially in plaid boxers.
Even folks who play for the Other Team must have some taste.
Oh that’s right, it’s Tuesday!

Was going to take a shower, but have to wash clothes first. So my clothes are in the wash.
I’ll be playing my bass clarinet at work today.
If you showered with your clothes on you’d take care of both at once. Just a little helpful household hint.

It’s 61 degrees, the ground is wet and the sky is grey.
It feels like Moonday.
Today is laundry day, pizza day and walk hell pup day.
I may get pizza for Sah-son and Chinese for me because I’ve been wanting Chinese.
I think :::crossing fingers::: that everyone is leaving this week so it will be just me and the Sah-son for a week or so.
I feel disorganized today.
I hate filling out application after application, especially when they ask for stuff I don’t remember (how am I supposed to remember exactly what day a temp assignment began or ended five years ago?), or coming up with work-related references when most of my more recent work experience has been temp assignments and no one still there would remember me?
Just make it up. They never really checked that stuff anyway
Certain research should not be conducted. Mike Rowe did a whole show on research that should not be conducted called “Dirty Jobs” yeeccchhhhh!
