The On This Day In History MMP

My missing phone has been found! Actually, it was found the day I lost it but the nice people at the store just found the appropriate charger so they could look for a HOME listed in the contacts. Glad I occasionally forget my own phone number or it wouldn’t have been in there.
I love learning about weather and climate. Why is it though that weather and climate textbooks are just about the stalest science textbooks possible?

Speaking of stale, I took the Iliad into the bath with me. I was tempted to drown myself out of boredom. THREE pages of listing the various people going to attack Troy with Agamemmnon, which of course includes who their fathers and grandfathers were, how many ships they had, what weapon or fighting skill they were best at and whether or not they were pretty and on and friggen on. Was that really necessary? No. I think not. Blech. They even had to dedicate a paragraph to talking about how Achilles wasn’t prepping to go into battle because he was still pissed at Agammemmnon for stealing the girl he stole fair and square. Of course this meant that Homer had to tell what Achilles’ men were doing while he was sitting on the beach and pouting. I was supposed to have the first 8 books of the Iliad read for last Thursday. I just started book 3.

I’m almost out of borscht. :frowning: I forced myself to have a small bowl so Sweetie could have the last bowl when he gets home from work.

OK, all caught up with the MMPs I’ve missed. I’ll tell youse guys about my cruise in the next MMP - it’ll take most of tomorrow to summarize it coherently. We left Baltimore on Jan 16 and returned today - 12 day cruise - and really, it was 2 days too long for me.

Thanks for all the nice b-day wishes, altho **swampy **had one egregious error in the OP - I was born in San Diego, not Merrylande. Dad was in the Marines stationed at MCRD San Diego way back then.

And happies (slightly belated) to my twin of different parents and different years - {{{kai}}}

And belated Happy Taterversary!!

Hugs to all dealing with family tragedies and personal owies. Sounds like I missed a rough couple of weeks here. Fingers crossed for **LiLi **and the bebies. Belated waves at rigs.

Three loads of laundry done, most unpacking done, and I’m pooped. Can’t wait to sleep in my own bed. Anyway, just wanted to check in. Happy Saturday, all!!

moooooooooom’s back! yay!

Welcome home MOOOOOOM!!! Sorry about the Lande of Merrye fox paw. Notice, though, that I was nice enough not to mention that you are six months and six days older than me. That should make up for it.

Well, that was a wild first bday party. It was held at a local kiddie place with lots of bouncy thingys for toddlers up to age twelve. Luckily the place also has private rooms cause we were in two of those. Baby Girl hauled in the loot! She finally got into her special cake and it was keeeeeeeeyooooooooote!!!

After that we went out for Mexican sustenance at the local really good Mexican place. All in all not too bad an evenin’.

I’s tahrd and soon will go lie upon the bed with OYKW and watch some teevee 'til sleepy bye time.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Mooooooom’s! back!!! Looking forward to the cruise story.
Just made 'nother batch of borscht but sadly, it’s not for me. Mumsey’s quite sick and now she has laryngitis to boot. Gonna bring it to her tomorrow.
I finally got to the interesting part of the Iliad. Aphrodite stepped in and ended up pissing off a lot of people. I love how the Gods are all sitting around discussing how they can screw over some more humans. Makes me appreciate the Pratchett gods even more.

LOL

Lissla, those internal sonograms are ouchie, aren’t they? I got one, and I wasn’t even pregnant. I swear, the guy took The Doors’ “Break On Through To The Other Side” a little too seriously.

Moooooooom!, good to see you back. Hope the vacay was good.

There’s been no word on my aunt. My understanding is that on “comfort care”, she get an IV so she doesn’t dehydrate, but won’t be given nutrition, and they won’t bother trying to find out or fix what’s causing the coma. Why bother? She left a long time ago.

My mom’s doing better. I made sure there was a bouquet of her favorite flowers when she got home.

I did ask permission to kill my dad. I came downstairs this morning to make some breakfast while he was chatting on the phone with an old friend. Please understand that I’ve made a huge effort this past month to take better care of household chores. I run the dishes every night, off load the washer in the morning, I feed the dog, I set up my dad’s medications. I run at least one load of laundry a day. I’ve scrubbed down the kitchen plus my own and my mom’s bathroom. I make her bed every morning. I clean up after my dad, because he just doesn’t notice the chaos he leaves in his wake.

As I was making my breakfast (and putting away the dishes, throwing out his sweetener packets, and putting away coffee makings, wiping down the counter, and feeding the dog), he was telling his friend, “well, I do a lot of cleaning around the house. Oh, and . . . yeah, we hire a lady to come in twice a month.”

Mom said I wasn’t allowed to kill him until the end of the fiscal year, when the county wouldn’t have enough money to run proper forensic tests on the evidence. I bow to her wisdom.

(takes notes)
Your Mother is very wise.

Looks like I’m on another of my wake-up-at-ridiculous-hours cycles… 4AM and I was wide awake. blech. So I left my sweetie snoozing, and here I am. I may crawl back into bed, tho - I’m starting to feel drowsy again.

It was nice sleeping in my own bed again, and I think Taz thought so, too. He plastered himself to my side quite solidly. Ziva finally came out from hiding several hours after daughter left with Cozmo - she does not like that psycho pug.

Speaking of pugs, the secretary at daughter’s school does animal rescue and she’s trying to place 2 pugs. Naturally, she contacted my kid right off, and said kid contacted us because she can’t afford 2 more dogs. I had to call her and tell her to stop texting pug porn to her father. :stuck_out_tongue: We both said “No more dogs” after we put Scruffy down, but I know he was wavering. NO NO NO NO* NO more doggies!!!* NO!!!

I’s hongree too. Maybe I’ll go back to bed and snooze till **FCD **wakes, then get him to take me to breakfast.

Happy Last Sunday of January!

Here and making tea. Mr. Lissar has the terrible cold I had last week- he was up between three and four coughing until he threw up. TomKitten and I are hanging out watching Toy Story. TomKitten has got Buzz Lightyear confused with GOd and possibly all the saints.

My MiL comes tomorrow- I should do some food prep for while she’;s here- she’ll be great with the kids but isn’t a very good cook. I have a bag of chicken breasts I can poach and shred, and I could make a casserole today.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 37 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 61. Not too shabby. I do have heat on to warm up da cave. The past few days have been wunnerful as I did not have to have heat on cause the weather was warmer. However, 'tis Winter time so whachu gonna do.

So MOOOOOOM how long before y’all are in possession of the pugs? :stuck_out_tongue:

Roo your mom is a wise woman.

Heh LiLi you sound like me. Someone comin’ to look after me and help out and I’d worry there was stuff to eat and be cookin’ up a storm. Speakin’ of cookin’, I have a <snerk> Boston Butt <snerk> hangin’ out in the slow cooker to warm up so’s I can shred it. I made N.O.T. sallit yestiddy and have baked beans ready to go in the oven. MOG and a couple of folks are comin’ over after deheathenization to have bbq cause I am in an eat bbq kinda mood. Oh, and of course, Bloody Mary mix is made so’s we can have that oh so traditional after deheathenization Whiskypalian cocktail.

Speakin’ of deheathenization, I am a Lector this mornin’. Since I practized yestiddy mornin’ a lot, I should do good. Or mess up. Who knows.

Now I need more caffiene. I also need to get the beans in the oven and find sustenance for rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

I just have this post-traumatic flashback to the last time we were at her house, when she was supposed to be cooking lunch for four adults and four kids, and proposed to make one package of Kraft macaroni and cheese. Divide that by eight, you get… a teaspoon each?

I think I found another package and made some sort of vegetable side dish, and we still sort of ran out.

Food= security, always. And I envy you your <snerk> butt. I haven’t had barbeque for ages.

We’re not deheathenizing today. Mr. Lissar is probably immobile and I shouldn’t walk the twelve blocks.

Oh, and in case you missed it:

Busy night running bambilance. I see a story coming.

Blurf.

Moooooooooooooooommmmm! You came back!!! Yay!

Am up, have breakfasted and am going to run errands and do some cleaning.

I have a dinner invitation, so I don’t have to worry about food too much.

Aren’t you supposed to be resting, LiLi? :dubious: Although I do understand the concern.

Happy Sunday!

Hugs all!

GT

Well, yeah, but there’s four loads of laundry to do and all I have to do to the chicken is put it in a pot with some broth. I’ll shred it later, sitting down.

And Mr. Lissar just let me have an hour’s nap- hey, I was up just after five.

Quesadillas for lunch.

Morning erranding is done. We had breakfast, ran by WalMart for a few grocery items, ran by the Hyundai dealer (they were closed) to see what Sonatas they have on the lot, stopped for some car wax to gussy up FCD’s Miata prior to trading it in, and finally to PetCo to get some food for fishies and a thank-you fishy for our house sitter/daughter.

Oh, and have a virtual sea-gar (heh - clever how I modified cigar, eh?) - our bubble anemone cloned itself last night and we now have two!! Apparently anemones and corals really lurve our tank. In fact, we were talking about building a shallower tank to raise anemones and corals to sell. We seem to have the water and light issues just right, and coral frags sell for decent cash.

**FCD **is doing a water change now, then he’ll acclimate the new fish, which we’ll hold till tomorrow when our daughter comes by and picks him up on her way to school. We’ll keep him in the breeder box - he’ll be able to swim around a little but we won’t lose him among the rocks so she can get him easily in the morning.

I really need to start writing tomorrow’s MMP - so much to share!!

About to leave for the gym and hear a knock at the door. Who is it? Girl scout. $25 later, I’m ready for the gym.

I forgot to link to thisearlier… Our little miracle of life!
