NOW it makes me wait!

Cheesecakeage has been achieved. It shall be the piece de resistance of Easter N.O.L.! I have fresh strawberries which shall be sliced and sugared and allowed to do their thang overnight in da fridge tomorrow night. Eight people shall be treated to an awesome Easter feast!

Guys, I know this is a good problem to have but the stress is overwhelming… I now have two interviews on Wednesday and one on Thursday. Holy cow.

Well good luck on all of them. I think the scheduling would be enough to send me over the edge.

Best of luck Sticky!

Working on a bassoon quartet.

There’s a shortbread recipe that’s not “flour, sugar, and butter”?

I’ve been working on a story all day. Two story arcs I’ve been thinking of (one fanfiction, one a series of “what ifs” prompted by a history book) have collided into one mass and it’s slowly coming out one prompt at a time. In the current episode, someone gets eaten by a bear. And it was well deserved.

I worked, I came home. Really good day, I helped a bunch of old ladies with the photo machine.

: cheers sticky on : You can do it! Breathe!

((Taters)), that sucks, feel free to vent.

rosie, too bad I’m not closer. I rock at moving.

I’m looking forward to our move as I’m using the checkbook tool, rather than tormenting the still-healing hardware in my back.

When it rains, it pours. Or, in my case, when it rains, we get a flat tire. Boo for non-reparable sidewall damage. The tire is visibly ruined, and I’m hoping the wheel is OK. Find out tomorrow,

Why do flats always seem to happen when it’s raining? I’ve never had one in the dry sun.

Would you be happy with four?

Snakes…what about snakes?

I had quite enough of those when I lived in the country.

I had one stretched across the drive way, it was so long you couldn’t see the head nor the tail. One in the living room. One coiled around the post of my deck.

Then there was the one coiled in the front yard.
I heard Sah-son laugh, that laugh that meant pay attention because something is going on that I’m probably not going to like.
Then I see the dogs are circling around a big black snake. The snake was pissed, coiled and striking at the dogs and the dogs were jumping in and snapping at the snake.
Sah-son thought it looked like great fun and went running to join in. Momma was horrified and went running to to stop him. I snatched him up, kicking and screaming to get lose so he could go play tease the snake, and took him in the house. I called to the dogs, who ignored me, so I went out and caught them one by one and dragged then kicking and howling into the house, because they were determined they will going to kill the evil creature that had invaded their space. I got the pit bull mix in, the rottie in, the shepherd in but WoWa (her real name was Sonja but Sah-son called her WoWa) was having no part of me catching her. Think of 120 pounds of elkhound. Eventually she noticed that she was the only one left outside and came in.

Then there was the time I was out camping and almost stepped on a copperhead next to the trail.

I’ve had enough snakes in my life thank you very much. The belong out in the woods with all the other critters that have no business coming close to the house.

Well, I wound up as backup cashier sooner than I had thought.

As in, today. Got grabbed about an hour after arrival to go get a cash drawer and set up to be summoned when needed. At one point, it seemed like I was spending roughly ten minutes in my own normal area between summonses to my register. Got plenty of exercise hustling from one end of the store to the other.

I think I did OK. Only needed to call for help a couple of times and had a more experienced cashier materialize next to me only once. Normal practice is to have an experienced person hovering over the newbie the whole time, but the cashier supervisor didn’t think I needed that much help. Her confidence in me was appreciated, and I hope justified. I did get very good reviews from her and another front-end supervisor after the shift, and cashier supervisor is already making noises about swiping me from present department to full-shift cashiering. I’m flexible on what I’m assigned to do on any given day, within my physical abilities (I really shouldn’t be assigned anywhere that involves heavy lifting, due to hip problems). We shall see.

Swampy, what do you consider minimum stock of TP for a two-bathroom apartment with two human inhabitants? I got a 30-double-roll pack, which was split between the two bathrooms. (I was down to the in-use roll in each bathroom.)

Happy Saturday!

Still hoping to see RT today. Before that, though, I’m off to the super secret location to buy more silverware! Yay!

ShortCAKE is what I meant. :smack:

I don’t mind snakes in general, altho I’d rather not have a close encounter with a poisonous model. One of our dogs was killed by a coral snake in FL - he was a terrier mix and the terrier in him got him bitten. I cried for 3 days - he was a particular favorite of mine. But I think snakes are kinda cool. I wouldn’t want one for a pet - they do less than fish do - but I like the feel of their skin and I think they’re interesting critters.

Good luck with the interviews, Sticky!! Being with the gummint for most of my career, I’ve done very very few job interviews. I’m probably not very good at it, altho I did get 2 of my temp gigs after interviews, so there’s that.

**Nettie **- I predict **swampy **will say that you should dedicate one of the bedrooms to being a TP storage room.

I’m hoping to get some paint on the shed today. Later - when it warms a bit more. The paint cans say it can go on at any temp above 35°, but I don’t intend to be out when it’s that cold. I want it at least in the 50s. So we shall see. My only other chore will be running a load of clothes so **FCD **doesn’t run out of unders. That would be bad.

Speaking of him and his folks - his dad has surgery on Firday, with some tests on Thurs. His mother is having a heart catheterization on Tues, and she intends to go to Raleigh-Durham with them on Weds. The woman refuses to accept the limitations of being 83! So my poor sweetie will be driving alone with 2 parental units with serious health issues. And I can’t go to help because we can’t afford a pet sitter for however long this will take on top of the cost of the trip. And if his idiot brother wasn’t such an idiot… never mind. Not gonna go there…

Anyway, Happy Saturday! Is it too early for a drink?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 53 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 62 and more rain for the day. We are not amused. However, the weather PTB promise a return to normal Spring weather next week.

StickyBuns you’ll do great on the interviews. Appropriate/inappropriate appendages are crossed for the interviews and for gettin’ to see RT today.

gotti flat tires only in the rain is just a rule. A bad one, mind you, but still a rule.

Nettie as a general rule I always say there’s no such thing as too much tp. More specifically I say there should be at least two unopened twelve packs on hand just in case of a tp emergency such as what happened in Venezuela. A thrity pack between two bathrooms should suffice for a while but you should consider the two twelve pack emergency provision. One never knows!

Today holds not very much in store in the way of havin’ to get things done. No prep work needs to be done for tomorrow’s feast. The biggest thing to be done is bakin’ the ham which I shall accomplish early tomorrow mornin’. It’s not a big ham and should take no longer than two and a half hours to bake. Other than that I think I shall just steam the asparagus and make a Hollandaise sauce which is easy enough to whip up in a few minutes.

Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, well, who knows!

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Happy Saturday!

I’m tired, got woke up too early and couldn’t get back to sleep.

It’s a cloudy 40 degrees with a projected high of 65. I should be irking bit my eyes are burning so I may surf bit, then see if I can fall back asleep for a bit.

We have termites but there is no structural damage and the seller has to pay for the treatment. They won’t pay until after settlement though, which is weird to me and I don’t know how the mortgage company will respond to that. It seems to me that if the seller knows they have termites then they should fix it now. Sounds to me like they don’t want to pay to fix it unless they are sure the sale will go through and I guess if it doesn’t they are hoping the next person won’t find out and will be stuck with the bill.
Banks are crooked SOBs but we all already know that.

blurf

Went back to sleep for a bit. Nice thing to do on a cloudy dreary mornin’. I shall now go make myself presentable to receive. Not that I expect to receive company but I like the idea of bein’ all presentable should company call. Who knows. Some one may well want to drop by to present me with a big box of Easter bonbons!

I am now presentable. You may feel free to call on me with boxes of Easter bonbons. I prefer the ten pound box, but if you’ve already shopped and gotten the five pound box you may still call on me and present the bonbons.

Well, I do have some Easter cookies and not too many people to eat them, so…

I’m up and caffeinated. Laundromat time, then work. Crappy rainy weather outside.
