The Pitt, season 2 (TV show, open spoilers)

Asking ER doctors/nurses to become foster parents is insane and probably the least realistic thing they’ve pulled this season. When Dana started going around sniffing for anyone who might be interested, I thought, “You have GOT to be kidding me”.

And of course, it’s not up to her to find someone. It would be up to someone in the state or county agency. My guess is that there will be another gap when the next season arrives, and if Robbie is the foster father to that baby, we will be told that he went through the process of being approved for this. But again, how would he manage care during his shifts?

I got the impression that the fostering Dana was soliciting was short-term … quite short-term at that (maybe less than a week). Perhaps to get over a delay in resources coming to help Baby Jane Doe. Dr Robby’s ~3 month sabbatical is more than time enough.

In retrospect … though Dr Robby talked up his motorcycle journey quite a lot, it seemed that he was consistently looking for reasons to delay (escape?) his departure. The fact that he never sat on Bonnie again on camera (i.e. within the show’s audience-facing narrative) has to be a major plot point. Baby Jane Doe is the perfect excuse to hunker down (as opposed to what Duke called “running”) and re-evaluate.

And hey – Dr Robby can ask Whitaker to still pass by and help with the house just as planned. That will free up Robby at least a little to tend to Baby Jane Doe. And if Amy comes with, all the better for teaching Dr Robby any infant-care ropes he hasn’t yet grasped.

I wondered this, too. After some thought, I think I have it:

Dr Al-Hashimi knew, way down deep, that she had to be sidelined but she couldn’t do it herself for whatever reason. She needed someone else – and at least a professional peer – to realize the situation and make the call. Counterintuitively, she was still angry when Dr Robby made the call … but I read that as being angry at the overall situation versus being personally angry at Dr Robby.

If we’re voting, I say have at it sans spoiler tags. Showrunners almost never get specific with plot-crucial elements in advance.

The least realistic thing was having a bunch lawyers working on the Fourth of July taking depositions.

That’s true.

Some plot threads were left completely unresolved, weren’t they? Like Whitaker’s badge. Or were the implications available only to bingers looking for clues sufficient?

Yeah, you missed a scene where it clearly showed who had it.

Digby took it along with the dressed up CPR dummy.

I saw that scene, but it didn’t go into how or why Digby grabbed it, did it? And the people who said they saw it disappear into the ambulance were wrong about that?

We’re getting into “how did they get there if we didn’t see them drive?” territory here. We saw him have when he was getting into the ambulance. We saw he didn’t have it after. No one saw what actually happened it it, but I think it’s pretty safe to assume it fell off and Digby found it.

I almost missed karaoke scene because I normally don’t watch credits on TV shows. Glad I stayed for it though. They both needed it.

Little things. I liked that they showed people with 4th of July jewelry like Dana’s Liberty Bell brooch and Javadi’s red, white (silver) and blue stud earrings.

The alternative to which is “Nobody ask too many questions about the hows and whys. We were going to explain it but we ran out of time and figured people would make imaginative guesses about how it happened, and why.”

But what other explanation is there other than “It fell off, and Digby found it”?

Did it fall off in the ambulance? Did Whitaker fail to attach it properly to his scrubs (after losing one ID badge already) ? Did Digby filch it from Whitaker’s person? Does gentle Digby have an unscrupulous side to him?

Not a big deal, just “unresolved.”

He did take the dummy. The ID was obviously not his. You need more? I thought it was a nice touch

Digby made a new friend! See what a good haircut will do for you?

None of that matters. It’s not “unresolved” at all.

How much of that would be known in real life? We can probably assume Digby didn’t take it off Whittaker’s person, which probably means it fell off somewhere. But if I had exactly the same view in real life , if I didn’t see the badge fall off and I didn’t see Digby pick it up - then all that I would know is that Whittaker lost it and Digby got it . I wouldn’t know exactly how or where it was lost or where it was found.

The only thing I’ve seen is that they renewed for season 3 early so they could keep to an annual schedule. Too many streaming shows make you wait 18 months. Looks like they are shooting for a January premiere for season 3.

My personal guess is season 3 will happen during a blizzard.
