The pre-hijacked/tetched in the head MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and, well, been up and caffienatin’ for a while. Thus, not so YAWNY right now. 'Tis 27 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 53, sunny and windy. We have frost. GASP even!

{{{doggio}}} so sorry for your loss. Uncle Mike, you and the family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Turkey is bakin’ away in my big ol’ black enamel roastin’ pan. I really like that pan. Big enough to hold a biiiiiiiig turkey or ham and turkey always comes out so moist and tender. It’ll be done in about two hours. I shall take it out, let it rest (apparently bakin’ is a very tirin’ experience for a turkey :D), and then go ahead and slice it. I’ll keep it covered and let it warm up just a bit in the convection oven before the pigout begns. When Mr. Turkey comes outta da oven, the dressin’ (yes, dressin’, this is the south y’all!) will go in to bake slowly. Bakin’ low and slow ensures a done, yet moist cornbread dressin’ I have learned over the years. I’ll make gravy just before pigout time as well as warm up the collards. I know candied sweet N.O.T, fresh green beans (none of that icky green bean casserole!), squish casserole, homemade rolls, pee-kahn pie, sweet N.O.T. pie (yeah, we do sweet N.O.T. overkill), and homemade cheesecake (YUM!!!) are also on the way. Oh plus wine and some munchies (I have no idea what but I know it’ll be good). Oh and canned cranberry sauce. Get over it. I like it. Plus there’s that satisfyin’ SCHWUMP sound it makes slidin’ outta da can. Oh and also a relish tray. One must have a relish tray. I don’t know perzactly why, but it is a must and must include spiced apple rings and olives at a minimum.

A feast shall be had at da cave!
Anywho…

Happy thanksgivin’ to them what celebrate it!

Horribly overslept for the second day in a row- then smashed my cafetiere while trying to make coffee (I smashed my housemate’s a few days ago when it fell out of a cupboard, after never breaking one before- I have replaced hers, but I thought it prob’ly wasn’t a good idea to borrow it- I think I’ll use my metal camping one for a bit…).

This is not a good way to start a [del]morning[/del] afternoon. I really need to sort ouf my sleep patterns too. Luckily I don’t have much to do today.

We’re showered and having some cereal. All the stuff to go into the car is staged by the garage door, except for the pies - they’re in the fridge. Higgs has been bathed. I’m still in a robe, but I’ll dress after we load the car.

Sunny and beautiful blue sky, but COLD!!! Luckily, the car has a great heater, so we won’t be cold for long. I may take some knitting to keep me occupied during the drive - it’s a bit over 2 hours from here to there. ugh.

**Nuts **- I’ve had fumbly hands of late - I dumped a glass of lemonade over on my desk, then knocked my husband’s iced drink off the end table in the living room, and then there were the oats flung from the bowl to the stovetop when I was baking yesterday. My extremities are out of control!!! So I’m trying to be more mindful - I’ll let you know how that works out.

MOOOOOOM you have a two hour car ride with Higgs and you’re wonderin’ how to keep yourself occupied? :stuck_out_tongue:

Mr. Turkey is outta da oven and restin’. The dressin’ will go in around tenish. I’m expectin’ the arrival of some folks around that time. I think Bloody Marys shall be involved. Heck, I KNOW this shall involve Bloody Marys.

Thanks y’all.

I was up at 7:30 because somebody had to have a psychotic episode at the neighbor’s cat that got loose.

swampy, it’s not Thnaksgiving with out the SCHWUMP!

FCM, Gordie is staying home when we go to my friend’s house. 3 cats, a 2 year old, and Loon Boy would be too much.

Mike, Mike, Mike, What day is it?
It’s Turkey Day!

HAPPY CHANUKAH!!!

And happy Thursday to all y’all gentile furriners!

Doggio, I’m so sorry. Hugs to you!

I was up very, very late last night making sweet potato casserole, cranberry-apple relish, and cleaning up.

I also waxed my floor. Soon I shall commence with stuffing/dressing preparation so it’ll cool in time to put in the bird. While some stuffing will go in the bird, the rest becomes dressing because it will not go in the bird. It’ll have sausage, onions, celery, dried apricots, apples, craisins and seasoning. It will be good.

The only chores left around here are vacuuming and dusting and my son will run the vacuum this morning. I feel smug and victorious because I didn’t let my inner lazy win and got so much accomplished last night. I even waxed my floor!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Mine shall busy, busy, busy, but the kids will all be here and I’m thankful for that. We have “strays” at the table again, and I’m glad for that too.

I’m thankful too, that tomorrow is my RDO and hopefully I’ll put it to good use by not doing anything but relaxing.

yes, I blatantly copied & edited. Sue me. Blurf.

Chag Sameach, and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

What kind of sandwich?

why, applesauce on latkes, of course!

And I was going to say, “Corned beef and sauerkraut.”

These are a pistol shrimp and a watchman gobie.
The shrimp is almost blind. “Aha!” remarks Swampy, “All the more easy to catch and eat!” However, the shrimp digs a tunnel for them to live in, and the watchman gobie stands guard. “Look out! There is Swampy!” He signals the shrimp with his tail fins, and they zip into the safety of the tunnel.

So, when you buy them at the pet store, and they are netted into a bag to carry home, one can hear the shrimp remark, “You had One Fucking Job!”

Mawnin all and happy Turkey day

Got stuffs to say but it must wait as purtification and family thingys must happen. I have a 7" goatee and it must be perfect, ya know

Cheers all

I always wanted some of those- one of the local fish shops has them in quite often. Alas, I can’t afford a marine tank though :frowning:

I like the idea of them having a specific ‘Look out! There is Swampy!’ code, passed down through the generations, just in case…

Sorry about your Uncle Mike, doggio. Hugs.

Yay on being so close to graduation, Sticky! Have fun at the HFUNs, too.

Made the smallest possible turkey in the crockpot. It was meant to be a turkey breast, but my brother was doing the buying and apparently these were in the freezer with the turkey breasts. Looks and smells good, in any case. Will heat back up before we eat. Also made sweet potatoes last night. Am cooking turkey drumsticks now for making stuffing, soup and gravy later.

Happy Thanksgiving, Chanukah, and Thursday, as applicable.

Off to maybe get some laundry done…

Hugs all.

GT

It is certainly a hole for money.
The Swampy Gobie and the Monday Post Shrimp…

The alternative is, “Look out, Shrimp! It’s someone’s hand!”
“That’s the guy who feeds us, dummy.”

{{{{{{{Doggio}}}}}}}}, d00d… :frowning:

I may have a turkey disaster in the making. Remember that brine recipe I bragged on and shared? It called for frozen cranberry juice concentrate, so I grabbed one at Wally*World when shopping last weekend.

What I got was cheap stuff, and it was apparently chock full of red food coloring, 'cuz I dyed the bird pink. :smack: In 2 more hours, I’ll find out if it tastes as bad as it looks.

I am about to put a roast in the oven.

What a morning.
I’ll spare y’all the the details but I am down with the ick.

The pinko turkey was one for the record books, IMAO. For looking like something from an acid trip going in to the roaster, it sure was tasty coming out.
