I was just browsing around Netflix, and noticed that The Pretender: The Complete First Season is now available on DVD! I loved this show! I typically don’t buy TV shows on DVD (I rent them), but there are one or two that I know I’ll watch over and over … and this is one of them. I just ordered it from Amazon. Now I just have to hope that the other seasons will get released, too, so that I can finally ditch all of the episodes on tape that I have!
I’m not (yet) – I haven’t seen any episodes – but I know I’ll watch it on DVD. A friend bought the first season and is working her way through it, and has forced me to pinky swear! that I’ll watch it when she’s done. I made her watch Arrested Development, and she made me watch the first season of MacGyver. Which, I guess, means that I have to force her to watch something now. Perhaps the first season of Greatest American Hero when I’m done with it?
They do seem to be releasing a lot of old TV shows on DVD, and I’m a total sucker for 'em. I can’t wait until August, which is purportedly when they are releasing Profit on DVD, which I think only ran four episodes before being cancelled. But I’ll buy the DVD!
You must put aside everything else – even The Pretender! – and watch Hogan’s Heroes immediately!
*(“I know nuhthink” – imagine it said with a German accent – is a famous in-joke from Hogan’s Heroes … I wasn’t really insulting you. :))
I think that shows that work on having some HUGE mystery- and then the show goes off the air, and they never reveal the truth- are crap. Pretender even had a “life after death” with a made-for-TV movie, and they still didn’t reveal much.
Same thing with John Doe.
I’m gonna be pissed if they do this with Lost.
