The Price of Owning Vehicle That Supports Terrorists

Hovercraft have fairly lousy acceleration, braking, and cornering ability compared to a car. That’s one of the reasons we don’t see them on the roads.

SUV HA! :badda boom boom:

Funny. We got 27 inches just the other week, and my POS 12 year-old econobox was tooling around just fine.

It’s not the cars that get stuck in the snow; it’s the idiots who drive them.

[sub]I just looooove watching SUV owners creep up a snowy hill, confident in their 4 wheel-drive, only to be disappointed when they discover that 4 wheels on ice + no momentum = stuck as hell[/sub]

Our dollar bills like your women! About 20 or 30 of them rolls up buys a real pretty one.

Even if you had a whole TWO FEET of snow, you’ll STILL have a nice story to tell your grandkids before they move here to escape what’s left of your air and water.

We understand you Americans like to exaggerate the …ahem… size of your five inch objects, but try not to get carried away, eh?

Dollar bills? Earth to whistle, we haven’t had DOLLAR bills for about a decade now - they’re using 5-dollar bills, I guess?

(either that or they’re using a roll of loonies for a tampon - I’ve heard things about those American women… )

The rest taken as tongue in cheek… of course.

The SUV is the sleigh of the devil!!!~

Go ahead and laugh it up, tough guy. Every time I see one you hyper-aggressive pricks cut me off and spin out into a snow bank I laugh, Every time I pull into the Parking garage late and I get that tight spot you don’t fit in, I laugh.

SUVs have a way of taking normal folk and making them into lunatics on the road. You heard me.

Wow…ok this is what I been waitin’ for.

Do you see these thing happen often?(spin-outs)

Beagle you 5.7 Chevy luvin’ stick-in-the-mud, when I’m done with my car you and I are gonna dance (on the track of course)

For the record, Gangian:

It’s a pickup not an SUV.

I’ve been driving pickups since 1970 or so. I know how to drive a 4x4.

I’ve a very considerate driver. I’m rarely a “hyper-aggressive prick” and NEVERbehind the wheel.

I laugh at SUV people that can’t paralell park. And they do bring out the idiot in some people.

“You heard me.” Yeah, and it sounded like a wet fart.

Whistlepig

oops I got threads mixed up, nevermind Beagle…:smack:

Yeah, I was typing that last night with something in the back of my mind saying, "Wait . . . "

Apparently, it wasn’t the memory of walking around Vancouver with a pocket full of loonies last spring.

FTR, we officially have had 28 inches of snow. With .30 of an inch of moisture. It was interesting driving around town this morning - I counted less than 10 cars. Everything else was pickups. And work is the city won’t even bother ploying anything other than snow routes, since it’s supposed to warm up this week.

I’m off to snowshoe and take pictures of the malamutt.

Whistlepig

Yeah… the self-conscious dickheads that don’t have one. You heard me.

Whistlepig, I drove through a giant snowstorm (well over 20 inches ) in CT with my Honda Civic. I didn’t get stuck, didn’t drive off the road, I was just a cautious smart driver, and didn’t have a problem. Contrast this with a doofus I know who drove through the same storm, on the same roads, and wound up in a ditch, with his SUV.

Smart Driver vs. Complete Jackass, I know which one I’d rather ride with, 4WD or no…

Just an honest question.

Did you drive on plowed roads or did you actually drive in 20 inches of snow ON an unplowed road?

I drove my Subaru Impreza through a 3’ snow drift once. Zipped right though it. Amazingly, there are AWD cars in the world. Go figure.

Cost of telling your boss, “I’m working from home today because my car can’t make it through the snow” while surfing porn on the net in your underwear instead of going out in the snowstorm like an idiot: even more priceless.

I pretty much stayed on “plowed” roads. Given that there was a LOT of stopped traffic due to a zillion accidents, the amount of plowing was laughable. After spending a few hours stopped on the interstate, I did work my way around on the unplowed shoulder, drove around surface streets covered in thick powder to get back on the highway, past the accident, to have the road all to myself. It was an ugly, ugly storm, I spent about 5-6 hours stopped, and had to get a hotel at midnight because I was going to fall asleep at the wheel. I didn’t see actual pavement until the next day, on ANY road I was on, it was either powder or packed snow.

I gotta say though, if my municipality let 20" of snow pile up on its roads, I’d have a 4WD truck, too. What kept me on the road was knowing the limitations of my car, many 4WD owners don’t understand their limits, and think they can throw caution to the wind. They wind up in a ditch, while the car owners just stay home.

I’ll add my two cents, since I, like whistepig, am enduring this wonderful weather of ours.

Having to dig my car out of the parking lot at work, wearing leather loafers… $20.00 (inevitable replacement of shoes)

Running to the local Big R to find adequate footwear for weather… $45.00 (PolarTec Snow boots)

Purchasing used snowblower to clean off driveway… $75.00

Emergency grocery trip so that I don’t have to venture out of my house for 3 days… $99.26

Being told by upper management that the offices are closing early due to inclement weather and that everyone gets to leave at 2:00 p.m… FREE!!!

As for the SUV debate… I ain’t going there. My Intrepid made it home, without getting stuck and is safely parked in my driveway. We live on a side street that has never and will never see the blade of a snowplow, and in places is knee deep. Everyone on the block owns a 4WD or AWD vehicle. We’ve been cruising around in hubby’s 4x4 truck if we had to go out at all. It’s a big ol’ gas guzzling 98 Dodge Ram, and today, I wouldn’t trade it for all the oil in the world.

It’s snowing again. I’ve heard tell of rising temperatures by the middle of the week, which then means flooding for the valley inhabitants when all this shit melts.

I fucking hate winter. I am living in the wrong state to bitch about it, but I really, really hate winter.

Wake me when summer is here!

Didn’t hear much of a response there, whistlepig!

So, how’s that 29.6 inch penis you’re driving??

4X4 Trucks support terrorism? Where was I when this news report went out?

FTR, just as many 4x4 Trucks end up upside down in the ditch here (Alaska) as SUVs.

Other than that SUVs seem to be owned by soccer moms and 4bys seem to be owned by under 25 snuff chawin’ testosterone overdosed young males, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of difference.

(hehe).

Seriously I like 4x4 trucks, just not the “hipper than thou” Alaskan version of 4by drivers.
