The Prize Inside - an introspective MMP

Y’know what? I really and truly hate humid weather!

We had loverly rain all evening and all night yesterday. I woke up at 4 to a downpour - lovely sound…

**gotti **- I vote for selling the piano and getting another when you move. Same for the dryer - they can be gotten cheap. I’ve moved my piano from Indiana to MD to FL to VA to FL to MD. Not smart…

Thermal fuse arrived and didn’t fix the problem. :frowning: So I called Sears service. They’ll be here Thurs. When they fix it, if it’s other than the thermal fuse, I’m writing a NASTY letter to the first guy who lied in his troubleshooting. I don’t expect to get any money back, but who knows… Meanwhile, **FCD **and daughter are going to the laundromat tomorrow.

And I’ve decided to take Firday afternoon off.

And that’s all for now. I think it’s a toasted almond night.

Back from dindin with The Vorlon and Mrs. V. A very pleasant couple to hang out with. They drove an hour  just to see lil ol’ me, like I was somebody important.

We talked about local politics and the characters involved, The Big Dig, Lizzie Borden and Fall River, Mass where they’re from, Cottonfield County and the characters there, and a whole lot more mundane stuff. Alas, no more Guinness for a sore throat remedy. I behaved myself.

hi

Two down, three to go. I’m sure you all know what I’m talking about!

Just a bit of steam venting tonight … a co-worker brought me some work, 15 minutes before the end of my day. It was a 4 page long requisition, which they expected me to put in every line. Except, as I’ve tried to explain to them more than once in the past, that’s not how I enter the documents into the system. Gah! As a bit of background here, this is the same co-worker who brought me documents that “need to be done ASAP” at the time our Christmas/Holiday party was starting, then slipped down to the party themself. By the time I got there, people were getting desserts and there were some dishes that were already gone. Ah well, at least there is plenty of work for me to do on the morrow. LOL

I take the generic thyroid med too… and my endocrinologist swore to me that there was no difference. My god. Kaiser Permanente, btw.

Hehehe, I shouldn’t be so grumpy! I’ve got a lot to be thankful for. And tomorrow is Hump Day!

I’m still burping scallops.

Made it home before the rain resumed.

That is all.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. I wanna go back to bed.

BBBobbio glad ya had a good time.

gotti I vote for sellin’ the piano and gettin’ a new one later on. Especially if it’ll need to be stored. Like you said, not good for a piano. Same for the dryer.

The Vorlon how does one burp a scallop. They’re so small, aren’t you afraid you’ll bruise the poor thing?

Just driving by to check out the OP, and wish dearest rosie all love and luck I can muster.

YRDBA,
beebs

Blurf.

I is officially tired today - been awake since about 4am when Ophelia decided it was time for me to wake up and play with her. She told me this by sitting on the jewellery box on my bedside table, and then jumping from there on top of me. That made sure I was awake. Maybe tonight she will just find herself shut out of the bedroom.

In other news, Project House is moving along slowly. We have had three quotes for installing central heating and have decided which one to go with, the same guy is most likely going to do the underfloor insulation too. We also have a quote for new fencing in the garden and the guy who will do that job is happy to do it next week once we’ve ordered all the stuff from the builder’s yard.

There’s still a lot of clearance work to do in the house but at least we’re making some progress with things which means I probably won’t have to move out for the winter! And I lost a pound at Fat Club last night too.

19 days until hollibobs!

Blurf! Caffeination in progress … that is all.

Up for an hour. Listening to Nat whack the floor.

The floor had it coming.

22 days til Hubby time!

Apparently there was a storm at about 3ish in the morning that cleared the air in Paris…I didn’t hear it i’s tahred.

This morning was a lovely summer morning but now it is again hawt and huuumid and the AC has conked out in the office building…nice! I am surprised the french contingent of our office is not out on strike at that

Other than that nuttin going on. Did I mention it is 22 days til I see my hubby again?

Thank you all for the warm welcome to MMP! I understand it is customary to bring pie when you are the newcomer? I have Apple, Cherry, and Chocolate Silk pie. Plates are on the table, help yourself!

How’s it going Anyrose? DId you innerds finally settle down?

As for the thyroid problems… I have been on Synthroid (the generic version, I just can spell the Le… version) for a year or so. It has helped tremendously! My only problem was when I knew I needed to up my dose (those with thyroid problems KNOW when the dose is wrong!), the base doctor woudln’t up the dose because my numbers were within the base’s normal parameters. Who gives a flying fish if my numbers APPEAR normal… I am telling you THAT I DO NOT FEEL RIGHT. Sheesh. Finally, I found a doc who would listen, and upped my dose, and now all is right with the world!

HOuse/squirrel issues… our first home we bought, I had killed 16 mice in 6 weeks. I also had trapped 2 raccoons, 2 rabid squirrels (long story!), and a mole! What a managerie! THe previous owner was a nature nut in the middle of a city. All the local animals knew they could come to MY house to live.

Enjoy your Wednesday, I am off to work! Luckily, there is Air Conditioning!

swampus, don’t they revoke your Gay Card if you paint the walls anything other than tasteful neutrals? And my mother would certainly have something to say about neon purple… just because it’s not her house doesn’t mean she’s not allowed to have an opinion on it.

gotti, I second the motion to sell the big heavy stuff, unless you’re really attached to it on a sentimental level. Pianos don’t generally deal well with being moved anyway. Sending lots of good thoughts to you and DH… hopefully something will come through.

mmmmmmmmm, do the French have a moral opposition to A/C or something? I’d go bonkers without my central air… I can’t sleep when it’s hot and muggy, and no sleep makes Muppet a very very cranky girl.

PandaMom, that’s quite the collection of critters! I’m glad it’s just the occasional dead squirrel at our house, rather than dozens of mice… the couple of times that we had a mousey intruder, Ariel the Wondercat dispatched them posthaste and left a half-chewed corpse on my pillow as a love offering. I know she means well and all, but dead critters fall very high on my list of Do Not Want.

Time to go grab some brekkie. I’s hoooongry.

Happy Hump Day Mumpers!

Yo, beebs!

Thanks for the pie, pmom. I’ll have the chocolate silk. Nom, nom, nom!

Well, looks like there’s a bunch of us hypos here then. I admit I am a very bad patient. Although I will take all medications faithfully, I better be damn sure I’m on board with the reason for taking them. That is why I am grumping about this. So far improvements are minimal.

Today we are having a bon voyage luncheon for our summer interns. A catered luncheon. Each intern will also be given $150 in Visa gift certificates. Have I mentioned these are paid interns? Boss lady is inscrutable.

I am very sad for an old friend who’s mother is dying. He’s wearing himself out taking care of her and can’t bring himself to accept “helping” her to pass. Wish I knew the right words.

Tupug

Welcome, PandaMom! Pie is gratefully accepted. Eww for dead critters. The worst I have to deal with are petrified lizards.

{{{Puggy’s friend and mom}}} {{{Puggy}}}

mmms - I heard you get to see your hubby in 22 days! Did you know that? (No A/C is unacceptable, BTW.)

LiLi - knick knack - Nat a whack - give the floor a pound… <sorry>
Happy Hump Day! I had cold pizza for brekkies. Yum!

'Ullo, all. I am off work for a day. Howaboutthat?

Sorry to hear of your woes, Rosie, but glad to hear of your initiative.

Pug: I also had some problems getting regulated on my thyroid med. I am on the Levo one right now, but I am thinking of asking my doctor to switch me back to Synthroid. Thing is, I’m on a very low dose at present, but have started having palpitations. :dubious: (those usually come with higher doses). God knows. I am hoping to have time next Tuesday to get my blood drawn (I have a script for the labs) and then make an appointment. Life seems to be getting in the way of life right now.
I am sorry to say I skimmed through the thread. BooFae seems madly busy, Swampus is Swampus and I do hope LiLi’s floor has learned its lesson!

Evening all. {{{Rosie}}} You sound like you are on the right track sweetie - just stick with it!

w00t for LiLi’s new baby bump! Sticky sticky sticky!!!

And and and … I forgotted the rest. But it’s been a very long day. It started when HRH woke up in the hotel room at 6:30am. We then proceeded (about an hour and a half later) to breakfast, before adjourning to the beach. But the heat index was about 120F/49C, so we then proceeded to the refrigerated swimming pool to cool off properly. By 11am, it was time to go back to the room to pack and check out. By 12:15pm, we had checked out and went to get some lunch, before our car (a late model BMW 750iL :D) turned up to take us to the airport. HRH fell asleep in the car and slept through check-in, passport control and security. We faffed around the airport until boarding at 3:45pm, got on the flight and all proceeded well, until the seatbelt sign came on for landing. At that exact moment, HRH told me she needed to go wee-wee. I raced her off to the toilet, where she promptly told me she needed to do poo-poo, not wee-wee, then proceeded to have explosive diarrhoea in her pants. Sigh … it took me a while to get a frickin’ flight attendant to understand that, yes, I knew it was time to return to our seats and fasten our seatbelts, but would she mind very much if I cleaned the LIQUID SHIT off of me and my daughter before we did that! GAHHHHH! What a perfect end (NOT) to an otherwise wonderful holiday! Is it bedtime yet???

I haven’t started feeling sick yet, but we have emergency contingency plans in case that happens= everyone eating takeout and peanut butter toast for a couple months.

If everything goes well (which, statistically, it should, which doesn’t give my inner neurotic any hope), anyone got any good Coping with Toddler and Morning Sickness advice?

Muppet, I agree about air conditioning. Necessary.
Dotty, yuck, and I’m so sorry. Explosive kids are not fun.

Mmweegdfbdgd. Naptime. Tired.

I’m going out on a limb here to say that I have yet to meet a female flight attendant who 1). is truly nice and 2). is truly helpful to ME or MY KIDS (when they were little). But (oddly enough) when TH traveled with our small kids, those flight attendants fell over themselves to help.

I am not a fan of flight attendants.
#2 son had explosive diarrhea on the ferry back from Martha’s Vineyard, in the (borrowed) Combi stroller. I am still not sure how much shit came out of such a small person. He had already soaked his change of clothes at the beach. The head didn’t have much in the way of paper towels or cleaning supplies. I ran out of diaper wipes (I believe I used about 25 or so) before I ran out of shit. It was not pleasant.

And TH had the nerve to ask me (once we got back home–he was not with us) why I didn’t enjoy traveling with the kids more.
ETA:
LiLi–the only advice I have is endure and nap when Nat does. What else can one do? You might want to mark off the days on a wall, much like prisoners do, but maybe I’m being a bit negative there…
