rebo I am seriously bouncing from excitement that I will see him soon - I miss him LOTS
Hair for the wedding will be straightened with my long fringe pinned behind my right ear as a basis for the Fascinator to grip on to.
Tidied the kitchen, ate a yummy lunch, ordered some stuff from Zappos for the hubby to bring with him and I am lying reading and surfing with my feet up and ice packs on my knee as I am determined to be able to wear my fabulous shoes (Calvin Klein pink snakeskin peep toe heels) for the wedding.
I’m popping in on the weekend to ask for help. I just started a GQ thread to ask for help identifying an unknown plant that self-seeded in my raised-bed garden. If anyone wants to help try to identify the plant, I’d really appreciate it!
Afternoon all. Blurgh! I went to bed last night with a fever of 38.4C/101.1F, and woke up at 5am with a serious dose of the runs! Traipsed off to the horsepistol to rule out flu of the oink-oink variety (since we just came back from “overseas”), and fortunately (?) I just have a garden variety dose of gastro-enteritis. Doesn’t make me feel any better though - I feel like a wet towel that has been wrung out by hand and then stuffed through Grandma’s mangle! At least my bowels have calmed down. Sigh … if anyone needs me, I’ll be over in the sick corner, drinking rehydration salts and eating dry toast!
Sweat break!!! So far this morning, we’ve been out to breakfast, stopped by the boat to get the tool bags, then to Ace for some hardware. My second load of clothes is in the washer- jeans are on the line. **FCD **and nephew cleaned the garage, and now the kid is learning how to pack wheel bearings. I just finished mowing the hill from hell to keep **FCD **from screwing up his knee. SIL sorta mowed the ditch - he’s not good on attention to detail…
And, like I said, I’m taking a break. As soon as load #2 is done, I’ll toss #3 in the washer and hang #2 on the line. Then I’m going to play in my studio. It’s cool down there and I have a fan. I’m hoping to get 4 cats assembled today and throw a body for a fat cat. Plus I’m going to try throwing heads instead of doing them as pinch pots. That way, I can throw the neck, too.
We’re going sailing tomorrow - it’s gonna be HOT, but it’s supposed to be breezy, so it should be nice out on the water. Plus there will only be 3 or 4 of us. Nephew wants to sail one more time. We gotta take the cam so he’s got photographic proof of his nautical adventures.
I need a vacation. Unfortunately, I can’t take any time off for a while. I’ve got 3 weeks to finish up a project, then I’m playing in a 2-week exercise, which sucks since they put me on the night shift. It’s only till 8PM, but that’ll get me home close to 9, which is when I normally go to bed. It’s gonna mess up my internal clock. Boo!
And that sums it up for now. I’ve had enough summer - I’m ready for autumn. Or at least the autumnal temps. That is all.
Went by Bele Chere this morning by myself, freaked out after two hours due to being in a large crowd of strangers, came home, am now preparing for work.
I just walked for two hours. Standing all night is going to be fun.
Ah, it feels good to be clean again. I didn’t get to take a shower before departing Texas yesterday at 3:00 in the morning. That’s what I get for staying out too late and having fun.
So far, it’s nice and quiet. My son is at work, hubby is sitting at the computer gaming, the daughter and her boyfriend are out in the great room chatting.
I need to dry my hair and finish working to clear my slow drain in the shower. I used baking soda and vinegar on it and I’m letting it work before I flush it with hot water.
I guess I’ll need to hit the grocery store today too.
I am waiting to hear from a friend of mine - the with home I’d planned to go to Melting Pot last weekend (but neither one of us had the energy) - to see if we can get together tonight. I may take a nap while I wait.
All my laundry is done and hanging out in the sun - I love clotheslines!!! I also made 4 more cat heads and a fat cat body. Before the day is over, I will assemble at least 4 cats. And make 3 more bodies, I think.
But we’ve not had lunch and it’s a long time since breakfast. I may suggest a late lunch/early supper before I do anything else.
It’s hot here - feels just like summer. I was literally dripping sweat just standing in the yard hanging clothes! That’s enough. Let’s bring back highs in the 70s…
I’ve done two loads of laundry and washed three dogs. Poor old Blaze - last week I gave him his summer haircut, and this week he got a bath. He just does NOT enjoy that sort of attention! Although, I think he did like the cold water from the hose. I still have to brush him out. He’d much rather I just pet him.
I made the jerk marinade for the jerk chicken skewers, and the chicken chunks are marinating. I made beef kebabs last night! These will be completely different, I hope. I didn’t plan the menu very well.
I really need to clean the bathrooms, but I’m thinking that will wait until tomorrow. I’m such a slug.
Does anybody else keep having visions of Mom assembling real cat heads and bodies? I know, I’m a sicko.
Pre-birthday fete was fun. We played in the salt water pool and et one biiiiiiiiiig meal. Ribs, chicken, slaw, pasta sallit, rolls and… ready for this… grilled okra!
Yep. Grilled okra. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM… the okra eatin’ contingent amongst us is gonna love this.
Grilled Okra

Taters Untied is lots of fun too.
Rebo yep, I do picture MOOOOOOM in her basement cacklin’ madly and yellin’ “LIVE KITTEHS! LIVE I SAY!!!”
Tonight was pissing everyone the Eff Off at work. Then two British girls showed up out of nowhere looking for a cab downtown. Cute Coworker put his mac on and offered to give them a ride downtown when he got off work. We all left at the same time and the girls invited me and CC to go with them. I ran home to change and ran back downtown to meet up with them. CC’s roommate was also there. We ended up playing a weird drinking game that probably would have made more sense if we could have heard each other clearly over the music. The girls wanted to go dancing, but CC and I have to work tomorrow (and I have to get up early the day after) so we begged off while CC’s roommate went with the fun of Hippy Hollow in the middle of the night (a lure I have succumbed to many times–like tonight).
Long story short (too late):
Those British girls were fun and crazy and a great destresser after a crap day.
CC’s roommate seems like a cool guy.
CC and I enjoyed hanging out after work.
I have a new friend.
No, not THAT kind of friend. A hang-out buddy kind of friend.
OK, convince me not to kill Taz. This morning, he peed in our bed again, this time, just on the bedspread on FCD’s side of the bed. I’m wondering if a trip to the vet is in order, or if he’s just unhappy about my nephew being here. Except he’s been here 2 weeks… I don’t know.
My job for today is to convince my spousal unit not to do anything, including sail, for the next week or so. He’s got back problems - at one point yesterday, he couldn’t stand up - yet he refuses to just sit and take it easy. Meanwhile, he’s supposed to start a new job next Monday. He seems to think he can spend this next week working on daughter’s boat. He is making me crazy!!! One thing that may be in my favor - according to the weather channel, there’s a small craft warning for today. To me, that equals no sailing. We shall see…
So, apart from laundering the bedspread… again… I have no idea what today will hold. Relaxing, I hope. An argument, I’m sure. We shall see.
Hmmm, maybe Taz has a small UTI. On the other hand, cat can be well…pissy…at times and do stuff for no reason that makes sense to the human mind, but makes perfect sense to their tiny little minds.
We had a great time last night. We went out to eat at Indochine, a great Thai place in downtown Tacoma. After that, we walked across the street and admired the Chihuly glass displays. We kept on walking towards the waterfront and discovered a place with outdoor seating where we all enjoyed a couple of drinks and good conversation.
It was another late night, but I only have four days of work and then I’m on vacation for two whole weeks. I can catch up on my rest then…hopefully.
I need to do more laundry, some tidying, and go to the grocery store. I never made it to the grocery store yesterday.
