The pumpkin spice (bleck!) MMP [Old]

You do know you don’t have to walk around in them, right? :sleeping_bed:

I don’t wear heels anymore but I did wear some last year for some “special” photos. You may now clutch your pearls.

My late aged MIL was born in the USA to a couple who’d met in the USA a few years previously just after separately emigrating from Italy. Italian was spoken at home, plus slowly-improving English.

Anyhow fast forward until MIL is 50-something and finally gets a chance to visit the Old Country for the first time. Her verdict upon her return?

She was not real introspective, but she also was not kidding. Sheesh!

Not a typo. “ever” as in all day long. Don’t get dressed between wake-up and when you’d get undressed for sleep again. But “even” would work there too.

As to FCM and you and portion sizes, just start with the idea you’re buying tonight’s meal, and 2 or 3 more servings of prefab leftovers. Her Ladyship is all over that technique, and I’ve learned to like it too. I end up eating restaurant food for ~6 lunches and ~6 dinners per week, after having gone out (and paid for it) only 3 times.

Wow Shoe you were really on a roll with that mega-post. Lotta good funnies. Nicely done!

After shevel & feed we did go to the art festival. About 1/2 mile of booths. mostly painting & photographs, some jewelry, and a bit of sculpture. About half the exhibitors are familiar from prior shows in prior years; half not. A nice walk.

Back now, snacks consumed, rehydrating in progress, and Her Ladyship is once again watching Mr. Mercedes since her evening will be filled with Zoom social.

I hacked up and vacuum-bagged most of the poke loin, but a hunk of it is in the rotisserie, filling the house with yummy scents. Got a timer set for starting sides. Can’t beep too soon - I’s hongree!

Trash and recycling will go tomorrow. Nothing else planned so far. Chillage continues.

We’ve always had at least two bedrooms and I banished Hubs’ clothes to the other bedroom closet decades ago.

Oh yeah, the sounds of guilt are extremely motivating!

I’d guess that would be expected after the lack of activity for so long. I’m glad that’s all that bothered you

There is a diner at Humboldt Station called Mama’s that is owned and operated by a Mexican family. They do nice sandwiches and good diner breakfast food, but whenever I take someone there I always warn them to ignore the Mexican offerings because they are not good. Every so often someone will ignore my warnings and afterward will agree that they got the worse tacos and beans they ever ate. I don’t get it either, one would think a family of professional cooks would understand spices.

It’s better to do that sort of thing with friends, soooo hard to keep looking engaged and approachable all by yourself.

I have ways of avoiding traffic stops which include setting my cruise control for the speed limit and poking along in the right lane. Lately, I’ve been avoiding interstates altogether but that’s for the scenery.

Not to mention that the older I get, the more invisible I am. I’m not sure if men turn invisible too, but most of my woman friends have noticed this as well.

How very cool! I’m going to scope out all the parking lot trees and shrubs when we get to Dallas so I’ll know where to maybe find keyhole eclipses like that. It will start shortly after noon, so hopefully the clouds will have burned off by then.

Did you know that you can sign up for email pics of your mail pre-delivery? I haven’t done it, but my BFF has because she is almost as lazy as me and doesn’t want to walk alllllll the way to the mailbox if there’s nothing but junk.

BTW, there is no-iron hem tape as well:

https://www.amazon.com/Double-Sided-Adhesive-Ironing-Alterations-Hemming/dp/B08HZ21JHH/ref=sr_1_6?crid=1TD88XBU6Z7YF&keywords=press%2Bon%2Bhem%2Btape&qid=1697401258&sprefix=press%2Bon%2Bhem%2Btape%2Caps%2C162&sr=8-6&th=1

I’ve never used it so can’t say how well it works, but the reviewers seemed satisfied.

It took me a couple of years after I quit wearing high heels before I purged them from my wardrobe. These days, I have quite the collection of sneakers. :stuck_out_tongue:

:shakes cane: Get offa my lawn, both of ya! This is the OJ through the airport commercial being referenced. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s a cool Lego project oopsie.

Sunday chores are done, Sunday dinner (kielbasa and cabbage for those who want to know) fixed and et and chilling in the studio.

I’m trying to get the vid of the piggies loaded. Cross fingers for me. It works for me, here’s hoping it works for you guyz too.

Me, too. Many Skechers. I think the last time I wore “heels” was my niece’s wedding 7-ish years ago, and it was a 1" heel, which really doesn’t count. I never learned to walk in heels - picture Amy Farrah Fowler and you’ll get the idea.

Supper was good. Dishwasher is washing. And once I order a couple of items for FCD, I’ll resume recliner posture. Good times…

Nope. it says we must log in.

Waaah! I want some javelinas! Waaah!

It’s kind of funny now to go to a wedding or similar and see the number of young women all dolled up who cannot walk in the not-too-radical heels they’re wearing.

Funny in a good way in that it demonstrates heels are rapidly becoming not part of many young women’s collective experience.

It’s also funny how many of them look positively uncomfortable in dresses they selected for the occasion. Not uncomfortable as in ill-fitting or excessively immodest. Uncomfortable as in “These clothes are not part of my image of me”. Kinda like I, a non-Scotsman, might feel wearing a kilt. It’s not my clothes, it’s a weird disguise.

Howdy Y’all! Been a wonderfully sloth filled chilly Fall day here at da cave. We did the dawgs for N.O.L. and followed that with nappage. Fartfest has also ensued. Now it’s time for some Netflix and chill.

I wore those until they didn’t work for me anymore. Now, I tend to wear Brooks or Reebocks, with rogue pairs of Wave Inspire, Nike, Puma and Chucks.

Please PM me the restaurant so that I will never stop there.

Happily, I am ensconced in a Mexican-heavy part of town right now and there are a plethora of good food choices that I will get to explore.

Cortlands are great baking apples. Enjoy them!

I cleaned. I watched Miami curb stomp the still winless Panthers(they have a bye week next week, and the bye is favored by 14). I napped. Now I’m having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned and watching some hockey.

Mrs. Robinson, are you trying to seduce me?

As a cat owner, this sentence is not something I want to visualize.

If a package is in real bad shape, I give it Late Rites(Viaticum if you’re really Old School Catholic)

Howdy again Y’all! Sunday evenin’ winds down and I shall start to wind down for sleepy time soon. Tomorrow night is men’s night over to the church house, thus steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’. OK beer is always chillin’ here. Also, the biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. It’s a never endin’ thrill a minute here!

CupCakes I told on myself. I texted the other Verger about some other stuff before church time and told her I wouldn’t be there this mornin’. I then watched the service online. So I kinda deheathenated by proxy.

shoe I would not object to a Rosary. Whiskypalians and other Anglican types use Anglican Prayer Beads. The link is to way more information than one might possibly want as to what Anglican Prayer Beads are and how to pray usin’ them. I have been known to do this especially durin’ Lent. Hey, we’re part of the Dope so knowledge, however weird, must be imparted.

Having a fine evening.

Her Ladyship was busy w Zoom so I went out for dinner alone. My first choice was closed (surprise!), so continued walking to the second, our Spanish Tapas place. 2 rounds of two montaditos & a Ribiero Duero Crianza each, and all was right with the world.

Once fed, our local music venue was dark, so I headed home. Her Ladyship and I passed unwittingly in our elevators, me on the way up to home and her on the way down to nearby dinner after her Zoom ended early. Soon she was back; a bowl of soup is a quick meal.

At which point my SIL called; we’d been playing phone tag at my behest for a week now. She’s out in SoCal and between flaky phone in her home’s canyon, busy schedules, and a 3 hour TZ difference it takes something to actually talk. All is well at the other end of my geographically extended family. My bro, her ex-husband and best friend, is stupid busy & never answers his phone but is otherwise healthy & happy. Their kid, my nephew, is killin’ it in IT & the world continues to vex everyone. Yaay!

Now with the last episode of Mr. Mercedes winding up I’m about ready to wrap this MMP and see y’all in the next one tomorrow.

Should be clear and cool first thing; Fall = dry season is upon us. Might beach; might not. Did pre-arrange my beach gear. About ready for more UV if it’s warm enough to be outdoors naked.

Cheers all & see you on the flip side!!

Evening all. Olive Garden was fairly good as usual, then watched some tackleball and about 2:45 headed over to the College Soccer game. To be honest, it being only 55F and windy with complete cloud cover and some rain in the area, I expected none of the boys to show up, so I could duck out whenever I felt like it without any guilt…yeah, right.

Two of the boys with their dad’s showed up so we sat through most of the game together, don’t know if they were waiting for me to say it was OK to leave or I was waiting until they said they had to go, but nearly two hours out in bad weather was all the fun I could stand; fortunately we all had the same idea when the score got to 4-1 with 6 minutes left and I am still warming up at home. 6:14PM on 15 October is when I programmed the heater to come on, and it may stay that way for quite awhile now. Down to 49F heading for 43F later, and the 10-day forecast says the evenings will remain that way with highs not over 73F. So Fall has fallen at last on N. Ali-bama.

Thank you and just FYI, I take it with fat Free Ranch Dressing…

Well, in my defense, I did say ‘light’ snacks, got a box of 10 Smartfood popcorn bags (about 100 calories per bag) and am trying to eat them at one per day (tough) and carrots and celery also are on the list. Have managed to avoid the Siren song of Cheese Balls for several weeks now, but temptation is growing…

I can understand that, my parents were working-class folks so eating out when I was young was maybe McDonald’s on Friday and Sunday dinner out about once a month or so. Moanday is Jersey Mikes and then some hamburger place, and Sunday Dinner out, but most of the rest is what I fix in-house.

My phone (Verizon) gives me a message that I have (pick a number) updates waiting and if I have the time I just tell it to do them all.

Have read all but absorbed little, so will make ready for bed soon and try to do better on the next MMP. Take care all.

Me either. Wore one and an half inch heels on my wedding day, for about two hours. Again, kitten heels for a total of maybe twelve hours altogether in high school, for two proms and two homecoming dances. 50 years later bought a pair of kitten heels to wear to my daughter’s wedding~chickened out and wore a pair of fancy patent leather flat. No one was looking at me anyway. Gave the expensive kitten heels, still in the box, to a drag queen friend. We wear the same size. I’m guessing he got more use out of them. For my son’s wedding this summer I wore Birkenstocks, with pedicure nail polish to match. A girl has to make an effort, yah know?

I enjoyed the link~this old catlicker (tre, tre lapsed) never knew. I think you whiskeypalians do it better.

It was a different era. My parents were two-Cadillacs class in the 1960s when I was a youngster and we still ate out maybe 2x per month. It just wasn’t part of the zeitgeist.

Now I’m pretty hard over the other way, and not real proud of that fact. Though more from laziness than extravagance.

Now I’m picturing y’all with Anglican prayer beads whenever someone says clutch your pearls.

Well like the hymn says, O, Cum, All Ye Faithful…
