Up and blurfy. Got my first estimate for roof replacement and  Have two more stopping by today. Signed up to referee two girls U10 games Saturday morning, and then coach my kids at 1PM, so…
Sari, just make appropriate cooing noises around the kid and try to bite your tongue without drawing blood. The kid is going to have a tough life as it is, doing the little you can to make it better is all you can do.
Butters, if I had walked that many miles in that heat, I’d be a large puddle of goo by now; have a safe trip back home.
The pressure wash guy didn’t show on Thursday, so I presume he’ll be around on Sattiday when I’m not here. I’m a trusting guy, but we’ll see…
Moooomm, sounds like you can’t wait for the weekend. I wonder why?
All the rest of y’all have a good weekend. It’s NFL time again.
Y’know, for a short week, it’s been a really long week. Dance class started last night, and there are two strangers in the adult tap class! People we don’t even know, who didn’t help us force a children’s dance studio to hold adult classes!! So there’s that.
Tonight I have to drive an hour and a half to a birthday party in the middle of the woods for one of my crunchy granola hippie friends. I like this woman a lot and am happy to go to her birthday party, but it’s a long drive. Which will be made even longer by the fact that a mutual acquaintance, who I don’t like very much, has asked for a ride and I’m a nice enough person that I can’t say no without a good reason. So now I’m going to be stuck in a car for three hours with someone I can tolerate no more than twenty minutes of at a time.
Then tomorrow I’m going to clean things and watch television (with the new remote control) before going to get my hair returned to a color we’re going to pretend is natural. Because right now it’s just kind of beige in the front and blue in the back.
Just talked to the boss - he wanted to know if I was getting high from the adhesive fumes (no, but I’m growing a headache…)
Anyway, I mentioned that this particular drawing takes freekin’ FOREVER to load, etc. He’s aware of that. Apparently Andrea, who created it, had the same issues. And no one knows how the fix it. So I’ve been twiddling my thumbs for about 20 minutes now waiting for it to create a PDF so I can check my other models and pass them on to be checked.
Me to, but in the morning, at dark [del]thirty[/del], & I need to take my passport, that’s right I’m going to your favorite place, North Joisey. Then I get to turn around, pick up at home & head towards Paradise*.
Me to…except I’m going by myself. :o
Survived Day One in my new walking boot/cast thingy. Only one more month to go.
Actually going to Bird-in-Hand, which is the next town over.
It’s a sunny 85 degrees outside, going to be another hot day today.
I have to take the truck in as the service center no longer has a valet service. They do have a free shuttle service, so if it’s going to take a long time to fix it, I can get a ride home and a ride back out there. It’s times like this when I wish we had two cars and Sah-son had his license.
I took the day off irk, since I have no idea how long this will take.
MetalMouse, actually this baby will probably have a nice life. As soon as she was born, CPS took her away. My friend had to go through the court system to get custody, so the baby is being raised by my friend and her husband. For a while her daughter had to move out because she wasn’t even allowed to live in the same house with the baby. She went to rehab and is supposed to be clean (I have my doubts), so she is living back in her parent’s house.
I am afraid the daughter is going to say something to me and I won’t be able to keep my mouth shut.
I had to block her on FB, I only allowed the friending to keep peace. But between her sappy bull shit about how much she loves her bf, and the recipes for alcoholic drinks and how she can’t wait to try them, and then her little post about how hard it is for the mothers of addicts and saying that her mothers friends need to step up and be more supportive of her mother - I wanted to smack her for that one. She makes a mess and expects other people to clean it up?
Anyway, I need to start getting ready for the trek to the repair shop, and hopefully whatever it is will still be under warranty or part of the recall notice I got.
Kids off to school again. This may be a habit. Day 1 of Boy child’s school went well. He came home happy and was excited that he had a locker. He’s a little bummed that everyone already made friends (his words) but he’ll get there. Daughter survived Day 2 and seemed moderately less freaked out. There is hope…
Finally created my PDF, and after half an hour of “processing” I’ve also finally got a print of the drawing. Once lunch is done, I’ll give my other 4 drawings a once-over before passing them to Tim for check. Then I’m out of work. I told the boss I’m out of work. We shall see when he responds.
swampy, are you one of those [del]old farts[/del] retirees in the genealogy archives I see in the liberry when I’m doing research?
Moooom, your system sounds about as fast as ours.
Whee! It’s Firday! I should be outta here by 1:30 to do the general household running. Tomorrow, my SIL, niece and I will be at the Hermitage for the Highland Festival, where some of my friends will be playing Celtic music. Sunday, it’s heathenizing and lunch at the Indian place with them.
**Red **- it’s just that particular model and drawing. I’ve opened some other drawings and it’s working fine. So far. I’ve probably jinxed it.
The adhesive stink was due to tile installation in a couple of offices that are being rehabbed for something. They opened the side door and got a big-ass fan blowing from our hallway out and either it helped, or my nose and brain have been destroyed by the chemicals. Either way, they’re done working.
Boss is at lunch and he still hasn’t given me any more work. lalalalalalala
Howdy Y’all! I have one more load of laundry in the dryer. I went to the Pubic Sto’ and the liberry as well. ‘Tis hawt out today especially humidity wise. Thus I am now inside da cool cave and have no intention of goin’ outside until I have to go outside.
red not me. I already know my ancestry is full of horse thieves and revenoors.
Peaches I’m doin’ burgers and oven fries. I suggest that. Or take out. Or tell everyone it’s forage night.
Boss left - I had no idea till just now when I went into the hall and saw his office is dark. Didn’t leave me any work. I have no idea what I’ll be doing on Monday morning. Oh well - I told him. Not my problem.
Not enough time for cooking a pig now, but that sounds like a reasonable plan for tomorrow. The girls want spaghetti, but I’m beyond tired of spaghetti. I might fix a boxed dinner, because it’s easy. I miss brainstorming menus with The Boy.
Mundane and sad and awful: my cousin’s* birthday popped up on my reminders, so I went to his Facebook page to wish him a happy 49th. I noticed that there had been no activity on his page in ages, same as a couple of years ago when I wanted to touch base with him. Back then, I searched for him on Google, to see if I could find out what’s up. I found a recent arrest then, but nothing about the charges. Having known him for a lifetime, I just figuratively shrugged it off - assumed he’d had one too many at happy hour, or something similar.
Nope. Searched more diligently today. After a lot of digging, I found him in prison, serving 13 years to life. Finally found the reason - he was convicted of repeated secular assault of his teenage stepdaughter, over the course of several years. (Which, I suppose, is why the case wasn’t heavily publicized, in the interest of protecting the victim’s privacy.)
Shit.
*Actually, second cousins - our grandfathers were brothers. But we were close in age, and he was always good company at family gatherings. I’m glad I kept digging for information, though, instead of asking another cousin.
I brought my truck home for the weekend but it has to go back Moonday morning. It’s the transmission and it will be in the shop for 4-5 days. The good news is that it is still under warranty and won’t cost me anything.
This way I can do a grocery run over the weekend, but I was advised against taking it for a long drive. If I had done a grocery run yesterday I would have left it, but going another week without groceries would have been hard.
Peaches that sucks. My husband’s uncle ended up going to jail for a serious DUI accident (the other party almost died). A few years later he died in prison. There is still occasional talk about having a family memorial for him, but it hasn’t happened. I guess we all still miss him and are simultaneously deeply ashamed of what he did.
Off to get kiddos from school.
House sale is supposed to close Monday. knocks wood
