The punisher season 2

So far (I’m only on episode two) it’s not what I expected.

They made the punisher kind of rapey in this season, which us strange.

Also he seems way more incompetent at combat than in the first season.

Hopefully it’ll get better.

I couldn’t get more than a couple episodes into season 1, don’t think I am going to give season 2 a chance.

Didn’t we do the “disgruntled vets” thing last season?

And how do grifters survive when they’re such poor liars? Rachel/Amy kept trying to sell that she’s an innocent college student that over 20 professional killers have come after in 48 hours by mistake. Why not go full Cusack and claim she owes her paper boy two dollars?

I’m on episode two as well. How do you get rapey? He had a one-night-stand in episode one, but even though I’m not a fan of one-night-stands, it was depicted as consensual, and possibly initiated by her rather than him.

Probably because he tied up the drifter, Rachel, who would have run, gotten herself killed, and forced a re-write of the entire season (which I haven’t yet seen, just the 1st 2) had he let her run. Or maybe because he beat up women without pause, women who gave almost as good as they got and were trying to kill him, but suffered by not having the series named after them. She was understandably worried at first, but seems to be realizing Frank’s interest in her isn’t sexual. We’ll see if she gets smarter about not trying to escape from the only guy keeping her alive.

The way he tied up and manhandled the drifter, and how he reached into her pocket to get the film canisters.

I actually found that wonderfully refreshing, so many TV series & Movies go to stupid lengths to avoid a male protagonist punching a woman. I particularly hate the female ‘sidekick’ fighting the female villain trope. Those women were obviously well trained and dangerous, so I enjoyed Frank treating them like the threats they were.

I’m up to episode 8, and personally enjoying the season. Clearly there’s some cliches and silly things, but seemingly not enough to bother me overly, as I’m still watching.
One thing though, is Jigsaw’s face. I don’t think it’s bad enough. In some scenes I couldn’t tell there was anything wrong with him. “Look at my face” Um, it’s not that bad dude.

And Microsoft Surface laptops.

I finished watching season 2 and I really liked it, possibly even more than I liked season 1. The insane cartoon violence is always entertaining (if you like that sort of thing), I liked the characters of Dinah, Amy and the psychiatrist, and the way they went with Billy was interesting (if a little inconsistent). John Pilgrim was a cool (super) villain, and I think they did a good job handling the two storylines.

I don’t know if it’s the writing or Jon Bernthal himself, but out of all the Marvel series protagonists, Frank Castle seems the most like he’s a real person and not just an actor trying not to speak in an English accent (ahem, Charlie Cox).

Also, Corbin Bernsen looks awesome as a grizzled old man.

Billy Russos scars seem VERY underwhelming considering what Frank did to him last season. A few laser treatments would have those 90% gone.

I thought his scars were underwhelming at first, but the writers didn’t dwell on the “oh my god, I’m a monster” bit (compared to the movie Deadpool, for instance, where a freckled bald guy is supposed to be a horrible freak).

Right, but my point was that what Castle did to him SHOULD have left him looking like a monster.
