When he played here in Toronto he was worshipped as a God (speaking of God: God, I hate the Maple Leafs) and yet the numbers and playoff performances just weren’t there. For a guy who has precisely zero Stanley Cup rings and a long list of playoff failures, he is amazingly overrated. Does he pay off the sportswriters or something?
It means that in some areas of the midwest, too. I’m not into hockey (much) and when I first heard of the teams name in High School I couldn’t stop laughing. My hockey playing friends didn’t appreciate the humor after I explained how you earned your ‘red wings.’
If I have to blame someone, it’s the entire Red Wings’ offence.
In reality, I think it is pretty clear that the Ducks’ goalie simply beat the Red Wings. No blame to pass around, just a solid four games from him.
I’m amazed at how little I’m let down. I think winning 3 Stanley Cups recently makes me not get as mad when they don’t advance through the playoffs once in awhile. I was far more upset a few years ago when they lost early, before the cups.
Now I just want the Pistons to make it at least to the Eastern Conference Finals. I will be a bit upset if they don’t make it that far.
I don’t really blame anybody. There were things that could have been done better, probably, but it happens. I had somebody tell me today that Hull was too old and should be taken off the team. I’ve heard that a few Wings players are too old, but Hull?
