We divide ourselves over partisan poltics, partisan bickering, and now partisan mocking.
We often focus on difference rather than trying to find commonalities.
This is pathetic.

Coleman is a smarmy, rat-faced little phony who isn’t worthy to wash Paul Wellstone’s underwear. Now, by virtue of a plane crash, he is going to pollute a senate seat that rightfully belongs to a dead man. My fellow Minnesotans, you disgust me.
Don’t get me wrong, I liked Wellstone and was very sad to see him die. Hell, I even voted for him twice. I wasn’t going to vote for him this time because I am getting absolutely sick of the MN government mentallity. The MN government is getting completely out of whack.
They actually do not want to cut the budget during bad economic times while the budget grew hugely during the last ten years.
The government employees actually went on strike to protest they had to pay a CO-PAY on medical visits! The horror!! Must be nice to live in their world.
The government needs to be brought under control and brought to a level of say 1996 and done with all due quickness and harshness. If they are unable to quickly agree on how to do this then lay off 10-20% immediately and cut salaries of the rest 10-20% across the board. Before you cry foul, this is what has happened to colleauges, family and friends so why should government be immune? Especially since they kept harping about the need to RAISE taxes.
Btw, Coleman was going to win anyway if Wellstone had lived.
But that won’t keep you from gloating over a perceived profit from his death.
What will the Republican victory mean? It will mean the same thing it has meant since poor old Bob Taft was beat out by Ike and then went down with bone cancer. We will have the best Congress money can buy.
If you want real fun, watch Louisiana which will have a run-off election with out restriction on soft money. For those of you looking for opportunity in the stock market, start looking at TV station in Shreveport and Baton Rouge.
Am I a poor loser? You better believe it! The only consolation I have is that Bush and Cheney and Rumsfield and Lott and Armey will have no one to blame but themselves every time something goes wrong. You may be assured that lots of stuff will go wrong in the next two years. The arrogance of power will get them, as it will get not a few of my fellows on this board.
Remind me of this in November 2004. If you have one you may bring a crow. I like my crow medium rare.
Does anyone else get the macabre image of the corpse of poor Wellstone propped up in his Senate seat?
A Senate seat does not “rightfully belong” to any dead man. Why? Because he’s dead. The Senate seat rightfully belongs to whomever is elected to replace the Senator who died. The fact that you personally don’t like that individual doesn’t change that.
Now, I’m not gloating about election – I’m pretty ambivalent about it and I think gloating is generally poor form – but help me out here: Is that the same crow we republicans were supposed to eat after this election? You know, after we lost?
Huh?
Obviously you didn’t read the entire post you were quoting a part of.
:wally
No, hon, I was reading the one he posted before it. With the insipid “whoot” thing and the smilie faces. Do try to keep up.
He is probably telling the truth. You don’t understand how the tax cut worked if you think he is lying. Just a quick look at the tax table or a withholding booklet for 2002 will tell you it is true.
Before the tax cut in 2001 a single person was in the 15% tax bracket for the first $27,050 they made. After the tax cut the first $6000 is taxed at 10% the 15% bracket is from $6,000-$27,950. That is why single people got a $300 rebate (which was really an advance on their 2001 tax cut). $6,000 X 5% = $300
For a single paycheck lets compare a single person making $2,500 a month in 2001 and 2002. In 2001 his monthly withholding would have been $306. In 2002 his monthly federal withholding would be $280. (Cite: January 2001 and January 2002 Circular E Single, Monthly paycheck, claiming 1)
It isn’t a lot but is definitely a difference if you are paying attention to your paychecks.
I am sorry andros, but you need to get your facts straight. And, you shouldn’t accuse people of making up stories if you don’t know what you are talking about.
You’re the one planning on eating the crow? Now there’s a man who plans ahead.
Give me the benefit of the doubt, please. I wasn’t trying to be funny, I really feel Maryland would have been poorly mismanaged by Kennedy-Townsend.
Either way, I didn’t mean to offend anyone.
Fair enough, although I was hoping that the person I actually addressed my comment to would be the one to rise to my bait. (See, there aren’t facts to get straight. I never said that no one was taking home more money, just that Sleestak wasn’t. I expected him to put up.)
A few things to point out:
With the Reps controlling both House & Senate as well as the Presidency, it will certainly be their agenda that gets passed. No more necessary comprimises to get things going etc.
There will be no convenient scape goat to blame for anything not turning out the way it’s expected to.
So, I will wait and watch. In two years time, things will be:
and then, we’ll talk.
Sure andros. The tone of your post was not that at all. I will say it then and I dare you to say I am making things up.
I don’t make millions. I earn a modest salary. Probably more then some of you and less then others. Last year President Bush and the Republicans cut my taxes. I bring home more money in each paycheck now.
I wish there would be another tax cut. I even vote Libertarian
in local elections where I think they have a chance of winning. Until they have a chance I am going to vote Republican because I know that they are much more likely to lower my taxes then the Dems.
Nope. No one running on the Democratic ticket for VA Senator against Warner. Free pass for him. There were two indies, but they didn’t amount to much. I think Warner pulled in 93-94%. Or something like that.
In fact, there were four Senate races in which a candidate was unopposed. Three of the four were the Dems chickening out. Nice to belong to the party that tries.
Oh, I see, quote one post, but refer to the previous one. Smart.
Wow, I bow to your logic.

Wow, I bow to your logic.
Roger wilco, Philo. I’ll make a point of divorcing every sentence one makes from every other. That way a conversation can be simply an unconnected series of sentences without context. I bow to your own reasoning, my friend.
In Conceivable, is it my fault that Sleestak asked to be flamed? I’m all down with your defending him against my unwarranted and false accusations, but I’ll continue in the same vein–Sleestak was responding to Libertarian purely to make points agianst him. I’m perfectly happy to claim that he didn’t match his paystubs at all, merely said he did to make his point.
This is a quote from Bush’s statement this morning, right? Or is it the whole thing?
chortle
Carry on with your regularly-scheduled partisan bickering.
