Finally!! What a day. I kinda, sorta slept in till Higgs started barking around 6:30. Then I crawled back into bed, but Higgs and Taz joined us, so not much snoozing at that point. So we showered and went to breakfast, then to WalMart, then to Tractor Supply. Once we got home, we pulled the fridge out and I finally cleaned it. LOTS of out of date stuff in there, including some syrup dated 2002. We moved here in 2004, so it means I brought that stupid stuff from Florida!! It’s gone now. Along with some ancient CheezWhiz and some old pickles.
It’s break time and I’m going to relax a bit. Cleaning the fridge is a pain in the patoot!
Oh yeah, we also stopped at Food Lion and got another London broil - **FCD **wants a batch of teriyaki jerky. Maybe tomorrow…
Not worthy of its own thread, but I frequent a local fast food place called Moe’s, which serves Mexican (which you would never guess based on the name alone).
Anyway, they are tuned to some station somewhere which plays a ton of cover songs, in between some of the genuine articles.
Well, today I go in, and hear Bob Marley’s One Love, which is cool.
Then a new song came on, which I soon realized was a cover version of Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love.
Sung by a female artist.
I mean, what does this line imply, if you are female?
Back from the volunteer gig in Nashville and grocery shopping. My heathen group filled bags of toiletries and small household items for low income seniors and people who are disabled and live in a local high-rise then distributed them. The response of the kids in our group made me hopeful for the next generation.
Now, it’s housework before going out into the sunshine again.
I’ve got some teriyaki-soaking beef in the fridge - it’ll become jerky tomorrow. Supper was leftovers and puppy is fed and snoozing with her daddy.
When I resume reclining, I’ve got a few more crocheted squares to sew together, then I need to edge the whole afghan. Don’t think I’ll finish it today, but maybe tomorrow.
pokes head back into the SDMB after a couple days’ absence
Hi all. waves
I went to a nice concert today. It was entirely music by a late teacher of mine. The third piece was for organ and choir. It was lovely, though I didn’t much appreciate the candy-wrapper accompaniment… The last piece was a one-act opera sung by a friend of mine. It was nice to see her again.
Howdy Y’all! Home from cookin’/feastin’ over to the church house. ‘Twas a maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahvalous time! Serious amounts of good food, a hyuuuuuuuuuuge (for us) crowd, and, of course, green beer. Da bear is exhaustated but had a ton o’ fun.
Ok, that’s all I got. I’s tahrd and am Lector (the readin’ not cannibal kind) tomorrow so I need me some sleepy time.
Wow - 2 days in a row of sleeping till 6:30 - this could become a lovely habit!! Except for the part where the alarm will go off at 5:15 tomorrow so my sweetie can go to work… Oh well, nice while it lasts.
Higgs has been fed, the cats have had treats and **FCD **is still in bed - I’ll let him sleep in, sans critters this morning. The only plan for today is to jerky-ize the teriyaki beef strips that have been marinating all night. I’ll empty the dishwasher at some point. The rest of the day will happen as it happens.
Second full day of spring and the temps are going to be way below normal. At at the moment, we’re promised snow on Friday and Sat (altho that’s far enough out that it’ll probably change.) I’ve got tons of grow-y stuff poking thru the mulch and I need to get some preliminary work going, but I don’t do yard work with temps in the 40s. Stoopit weather.
At least it’ll be sunny. So there’s that. Happy Sunday!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 62 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of <snerk> 69! <snerk> and rain this afternoon, night, and tomorrow. Also temps only in the 60s for the next three days. Well BRRRRR!
My yahd looks awful! I will no doubt have a day of yahd irk in store for Sattidy. OYKW’s yahd needs a good spruce up as well. I know the mowers are in good shape so there’s that. Also at some point durin’ the week I will need to get the gas cans filled. Fun times ahead!
Ok, that’s all I got for now. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. I have some Irish soda bread from last night’s feast. YUM!
Smokey has developed an annoying habit. Beginning around 6:30 every morning, she stands next to my head and meows. Then walks across the pillow, stepping on my hair in the process, to the other side of my head and meows again. She repeats this until I relent and sit up. Cuddling her doesn’t help, kicking her off the bed doesn’t help, tossing something for her to chase doesn’t help, and ignoring her helps least of all. Stoopit cat.
