There’s a G’Nort joke to be made here.
Big Bad Voodoo Lou:
Where the heck can I find the Starman one? Being a Starman fan I’ve wanted to own one since I heard they were going to make one, but he isn’t in any of the racks I see in Toys R Us or Target.
I think the Starman I have was in a three-pack, but I’ve seen him by himself at Target too.
Ow, my brain. There was no cause to inflict a flashback of that travesty on me, sir.
Particularly since I then had to Google to see if it was as bad as I’d been successfully not remembering. It was. And, worse, I realized that Matt Settle – whom I normally like – was Green Lantern. sigh
I might be wrong and didn’t tape the episode so I can’t confirm - but -
I thought in the first shot in the villains bar, the camera panned from right to left: from a hooded villain to one wearing a “gas mask” type mask. They sure looked like Doctor Alchemy ® and Mister Element (l). The inside joke - both villains were the same man, Al Desmond.
I have the show on my hard drive. It is terrible, but if you want to see it let me know and I can burn it onto a CD for you. Where anymore episodes than the pilot made?
You know what? I’d love to see it, but I’ve heard it’s really bad, and not even in a “laugh and embrace the badness” sort of way. I would appreciate it, but don’t go to ANY extra trouble or expense on my account.
I know they never produced any more episodes after that pilot, and I don’t believe it was ever even shown in the USA. I understand most copies that are circulating are taped from European broadcastings.
cmkeller, The Ditko Starman was available for a short time in a 3-pack with Superman and Amazo, and then released single-carded with his cosmic rod (since the 3-pack figures never come with accessories). Otherwise, the figure is the same. E-mail me at saxman2@hotmail.com if you want, and I’ll see what I can do about finding you one.
What a strange grouping.
As to the JLA pilot. It’s…something else.
Pretend it’s not supposed to be the JLA and it’s moderately bad. But in a fun way.
Remember that it is, and…well, I actually had a lot of fun nitpicking how they changed the powers and histories (well…there’s not much nitpicking to that…they were completely unrelated to their comics versions - Barry was an undermotivated slacker of moderate intellect).
There generally hasn’t been a lot of rhyme or reason to the 3-pack groupings. In addition to that, we’ve seen:
Batman/Hawkgirl/Elongated Man
Batman/Wildcat/Metamorpho
Superman/Aztek/Sinestro
Flash/Green Lantern/Red Tornado
Flash/Green Lantern/Atom Smasher
Flash/Hawkgirl/Waverider
Green Lantern/Martian Manhunter/Booster Gold
Supeman (metallic)/Wonder Woman (metallic)/Brainiac
Batman/Wonder Woman/Bizarro
Green Lantern/Martian Manhunter/Black Canary
And coming soon: Superman/Aquaman/Dr. Light 2
At least they’ve grouped Justice Lords Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman together, a Green Lantern 3-pack with the usual GL John Stewart/Kilowog/Tomar Re, and a villains 3-pack with Lex Luthor/Mirror Master/Copperhead.
